Police 68th Precinct

I’ve been to several in my life. I went here a few years ago to obtain federal finger prints for a job abroad, and they were very kind to me. However, back when I lived in their neighborhood, I was being sexually, physically and verbally harassed daily by my neighbors. They laughed at me when I went in and asked for a restraining order. I also asked to be escorted home once when I had death threat voice mails on my phone (which I shared with them), and they also refused. Isnt that what the police are for?
Finally, the people harassing me threw a brick in my window, broke my husband’s nose, and sprained my hand as I was trying to defend myself from being hit with weapons. I called 911. Despite the 16 months of reports and attempts and literally begging them for help and safety, they decide to arrest not only the kids harassing me (with warrants for felonies) but also myself and my husband, both hard working citizens with no legal record. The treatment I received at the hands of the cops who wrongfully arrested me was terrible. They were so physically rough with me and gave me no explanation as to the arrest, which shocked and baffled me. When they did finally «explain», it was by screaming insults and condescension at me. I was freezing and denied a blanket (they confiscated my coat). They were disrespectful and demeaning and called me a spoiled princess when I complained about the cold. I’m not a veteran of being arrested, so I found this treatment entirely inhumane, especially when I was the victim calling 911 in the first place, and after months and months of other 911 calls regarding the same perpetrators.
Of course, they fingerprinted me and interrogated me about my scars and distinguishing characteristics and further treated me like a criminal, not a victim.
Then, my case was thrown out of court. (to artificially keep crime levels down!!). However, in court I had problems because the arresting officer got my birthday wrong on the paperwork. His fuck up — my problem — took a lot of phone calls and paperwork to fix this cruel cop’s mistake.
I went back to the precinct to obtain paperwork, as I had a lawyer looking over the case and its mishandling before my court date. I was refused two times, very rudely. Not only by their desk worker, even when I asked to speak to an officer, he dismissed me rudely.
These typical power-​corrupted brooklyn cops fit the stereotype for NYC police and are sure to inspire rap songs. Thank god I don’t live in their jurisdiction anymore. They were useless, allowed me to be harassed constantly. Allowed me to live in fear of my life, my sexual freedom, the the safety of my husband and family. They allowed my family to be seriously injured (with weapons) multiple times and they allowed my property to be damaged (which I couldnt file a claim against because this precinct lost my paperwork!!!) They allowed wanted felons with warrants to harass me until I had to move away.
They do not respond to 311 calls or anonymous tips. they claim to be too busy.
my car was stolen in 2014, they were useless.
My home was broken into in 2009, they were useless.
My RV was stolen in 1998, they were useless.
I cant remember a time they were actually helpful in stopping or solving crime. Theyre just good at scaring innocent victims and allowing crime to continue. Theyre good at messing up paperwork and depriving people of justice. Theyre good at making assumptions about people based on the way they look, instead of their criminal record and job history, etc.
No one really has a choice when it comes to neighborhood locations where crime occurs, but if you DO have a choice, DON’T GO HERE! They don’t care. This is not a precinct of compassion or respect for justice. I see them at the bagel store every morning being loud annoying entitled cops. Theyre walking stereotypes.
Hopefully they have to wear cameras soon so I could have proven my mistreatment at their hands.

No one ever answers the phone… Just go there and hope to find someone. I called the 72— they helped me. They also answered their phones.

Three robbers were finally caught by 4 outstanding detectives from this 68^th precinct! These three crooks had been robbing houses all over Brooklyn targeting Chinese residents for years. They robbed over 30 houses! So these officers really did a great job of keeping our community safer! Job well done!

Yesterday, March 26, 2015. A 12 year old old boy stole an item from a store and the owner dialed 911 immediately. The arrival of the so called «police officer» came in a few minutes and the young boy accused the owner of harassment. The owner gladly told the officer that he can view the surveillance and prove his innocence. However, this jackass officer refused to review the video and automatically sides with the kid without an explanation from the owner side. Right after, he arrested the owner and took him to this precinct. And now the officer states that the owner will be charged. WHAT THE HELL? How does a kid enter a store, shoplifts and yet the owner is pressed charged? The officer is white, the kid is white, and the owner is chinese. I’m concluding that this is a racial discrimination!
This man that claims he’s an «officer» clearly marks up the stereotypical statements about cops. You guys are incompetent, racist, can never get the job done correctly. Even me, a petite 5 feet– 95 lb girl can just throw on a uniform and offer better service for the community than you guys. It’s a shame this man calls him self a cop. A security guard could of done a better job than this idiot… #handsupdontshoot #getyourshittogether

This is the worst of the bunch. This whole place needs to demolish. I think the officer are great. The community outreach is piss poor the Building looks like a 1970 library. The foot patrol is never out. Basically increase foot patrols get a new building do better community programs

Affectionately known (by some) and not-​so-​affectionately known (by others) as ‘Ft. Snooze, Brooklyn’. It kinds stands to reason, why that is.
Parts of Bay Ridge are very wealthy; all the big mansions have their own alarm systems. Not much for cops to do around here I guess; (hence, stories of them spending their time doing donuts in the Andrew Lehman ballfield on summer nights).
I mean, they could start using their police cars to pursue more of the reckless 20-​somethings zipping down our tree-​lined residential streets like Colonial and Ridge, in new hotrods bought for them by their daddy’s plastic; but maybe this idea simply doesn’t occur to them.
Maybe they leave everything traffic-​related to their demonic counterparts in the meter-​maid corps; a horde of vampires so rapacious they will ticket you even if you’re loading your disabled relatives into a van via wheelchair.
To me, the really egregious «black mark» for this precinct is their handling of the obvious string of Mafia hits which gave the St Gregory hotel a long string of clearly faked suicides. Or, the notorious Lowen’s Pharmacy fake-​suicide. Let me ask you: who commits suicide with their hands duct-​taped behind their back? Why would a *pharmacist* repeatedly shoot himself with a gun in order to die; missing twice before succeeding? And just because there’s suicide notes, that makes everything legit? I mean, come on. It is a scandal that those cases remain unsolved by the ‘detectives’ of the 68^th.
Otherwise I don’t really have a lot to complain about with this bunch of blue-shirts…there’s just not enough activity to grade them on. At least that I ever see. Maybe they are a gung-​ho strikeforce thwarting some kind of insidious crime-​wave which I’m oblivious to. Maybe they are keeping this neighborhood from exploding. Hey, it might be.
On the other hand – once, an acquaintance of mine called them from the apartment towers two blocks away (falling bullet embedded in her floor) and they totally ignored her. Only two blocks away.
I have heard that the 68^th is preoccupied with ‘clamping down on drug activity’ which is reassuring because there is currently a *river* of hard drugs funneling through Bay Ridge. Teens in this neighborhood are high as kites from crazy mixtures of heroin+angel dust. Just ask yourself: how many nail salons, 99-​cent-​stores, and tarot-​card-​readers do you think this neighborhood really *uses*?
Oh well. What can you do.
