They don’t know where my contacts are still since the doc is on vacation, but they are decidedly so nice I just give them another star…

I came here specifically for an eye exam to renew my license instead of going to the dmv. Everyone was extremely friendly including the nice older man who administered the test. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Save a trip to the DMV and go here!

Horrible place. I’ve worn glasses since the age of 5, I’m in my late 40’s and never had such horrible service. The older gentleman that measures you for glasses kind of conned me into getting an extra pair of glasses that I really didn’t need. He promised I would have them in a week. 2 ½ weeks later and they still were not done. When I went to finally pick them up, as soon as I went to try them on, the glass fell off. He specifically pushes you to get what you do not need and on top of that he’s rude.
I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS THE LAST OPTICAL PLACE IN BROOKLYN!

Not sure what some of the other reviewers are talking about. Doctor was great. Exam was thorough and he took the time to answer my questions. Staff was wonderful and very patient when I tried on what seemed like a million pairs of glasses. Good selection, reasonable prices. An overall great experience!

I had an experience similar to Vincent. And in the end this «doctor» charged my insurance company $ 505.00 for an eye exam !
Something to hide? Maybe just contempt for the insurance system

If you ask the optician for your PD, then be prepared for 10-​minutes of his personal opinion on why online eyeglass retailers are the devil, why he is the best, and why I had better not be using an online retailer and coming to him for a prescription update. Keep in mind this angry rant will be delivered in the confines of the small, dark room where they determine your prescription. It will feel a bit like a trip to a used car dealership.
Also, be prepared for him to NOT give you your PD unless you are buying glasses at his shop. This optician and his shop confirmed just how big of a threat retailers like Warby Parker are. In other words, go Warby Parker!
This optician has something to hide — Plaza Optical Center’s margin on glasses!

I had a great experience here my first time! Yes, it is kind of shabby but everyone was nice and glasses are reasonably priced. They have a large assortment of vintage frames from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s for a steal! Super excited to get my new glasses! Shouldn’t take more than a day or two I was told!

Two stars for the doctor. He is amazing and knows what he is doing. If not for him there would be one star. The girls working there are very rude and it is ghetto and far too expensive for the kind of service. I called the day my glasses were promised to me and got a very rude response and ended up getting them later than expected.

I love the doctor here. he’s totally cute. the place is slightly ghetto — has been in business forever in this spot — and along with the neighborhood charm — you get a lot of attitude from the staff who don’t feel like explaining anything to their customers. They act like I am some huge problem customer because I ask questions! Maybe their usual clientele doesn’t care or don’t have other options, but I have been to many other eye doctors who go about things very differently, and don’t get impatient or easily miffed.
They also charge comparative prices to much nicer (sorry, it’s true) places in Manhattan, and mark up their orders quite a bit — enough that I had to cancel my last order, which as you can imagine was met with a lot of resistance, guilt-​tripping and finally a dismissal — leaving me feeling unwelcome as a customer though I’ve been going there for over four years!
