Peter Pan & Wendy Daycare

Our 6 month old daughter has been at Peter Pan for 3 months now, and we couldn’t be happier with the care she has received. As new parents we were initially very nervous leaving her, but it did not take long to feel completely comfortable and know that she was in great hands. Tanya and her assistants are very conscientious care givers with great attention to detail. They are warm and gentle with our baby and always give us a full report at the end of the day. They are quick to spot if anything is up or unusual and have given us good advice when dealing with many issues like diaper rash, teething, bottle feeding and introducing solids.
Our baby has thrived under their care. She has become so sociable and especially loves being around other children and babies. They have also got our baby on a good napping schedule which we try to follow on the days she’s at home. I would have no hesitation recommending Peter Pan to anyone looking for daycare. We hope that our daughter will be with Tanya and her assistants for many years.

Our daughter has been at Peter Pan and Wendy for 4 months and during this time we’ve seen a major change in her development and socialization. She loves the entire staff and will reach for them to be picked up each morning she arrives. They make it easy for us to drop her off by warmly welcoming her and letting her know her friends are already there and ready to play.
They taught her to use the potty at 15 months and she has picked up words and knows all of her friends names. You can see how proud she is of all the things she has learned there.
We like the activities and variety of food she is given each day.
At pick-​up time we are given a summary of everything our daughter did throughout the day — her art projects, her sleep schedule, her diaper changes, etc. They let us know how she played with the kids and what she enjoyed doing.
She is stimulated, happy, and tired at the end of her day at PP &W. They are flexible if we need an early drop-​off and are open except for major holidays. They clearly communicate when our daughter needs more supplies (wipes, clothes) and always communicate when a monthly bill is due and break out the details for us.
We feel very fortunate to have found a local neighborhood daycare that provides reliable care for our daughter.

We got very lucky when we found Peter Pan and Wendy Daycare. My son started there at 6 months and is almost 15 months now. I would have started him there soon but thought I’d use up my company’s 3 free weeks of childcare in the city first. I love Peter Pan and Wendy more than the place in Manhattan because of the outdoor space and wonderful healthy meals they include daily, which makes drop off a breeze because I don’t have to prepare his meals for the day. Plus Tanya and all the girls there love my son so much and take extra special care of him. They give me daily updates and genuinely get excited to tell me about new things he’s doing. They also teach him stuff I wouldn’t necessarily teach him at home. One of the first words I heard him say at home was dog and he pointed to our dog. This was amazing to me because we always call our dog by her name but never say the word dog. When I asked Tanya if she teaches the kids about dogs she said «everyday, we say doggie goes woof, woof and cats say meow.» This is just one example of many things that my son learns with Tanya and the other caregivers and then he connects with something at home. Secondly, Tanya and the girls take the kids outside as much as possible. They have a huge outdoor space and lots of outdoor toys. When my son was very young, they would set his stroller up outside and let him get lots of fresh air. The place he went to in Manhattan was in the basement of a high rise and during the 3 weeks he was there they didn’t take him outside once. Even now that it’s summer they try to take them out in the mornings before it gets too hot. On the rare day it rains all day long, my son will have a couple of extra art projects for me. What I also love about Peter Pan and Wendy daycare is they have a separate room for naps, which the place in Manhattan didn’t have. Tanya and the other caregivers have my son on a great nap routine and he’s very happy on the weekends to take naps too. Most importantly, my son loves Tanya along with the other caregivers and kids in his class there. He’s super excited in the morning to press the buzzer to the daycare and see the caregivers smiling faces and play with his buddies. He also comes home happy too. Overall the place is a 10 out of 10. I would gladly recommend this place to anyone I know who is looking for an amazing daycare.

My son’s time at this daycare will end in a month because he will be starting pre-​school, and it is going to be a bittersweet transition. He started at PP&W at 20 months, and took to it immediately! His caregivers have been loving and attentive with him. The daycare is engaging and keeps him physically and mentally busy throughout the day. He has quite literally stopped in the hallway of the building, before we even got to the door of the PP&W itself, and tried to push me out, simply because he was so eager to go to daycare! I think that speaks volumes about the center.
The prices are extremely reasonable, the place is clean, there is an outdoor area for the kids to play in, and the caregivers are sweet and love him to death. I can’t ask for much more.

I am very happy with the daycare. The caregivers are loving, warm, and attentive. The provide a great environment for fun and learning. The daycare also provides healthy breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack, which means I do not have to worry every evening about packing my son’s lunch box for the next day. The place has a backyard where kids run around, play, and grow plants. My son loves going there so much that even on the weekends he grabs his back pack and starts getting ready for the daycare.

Our kid loves this place. He’s been attending for almost a year (since October 2013) and here are my impressions:
— very caring and attentive staff
— lively atmosphere
— very well stocked
— a lot of fun for kids in the summer with the backyard
— great food menu for kids
— staff communicates with you constantly
— splendid list of activities that kids enjoy (there is a project that our kid brings home every day!)
— best hours (this includes holidays) of any day care in the area.
In general my wife and I are very pleased with this establishment.

Let me preface this by saying that I sent my older child to another daycare for 3 years, until he was ready for preschool, and we were in love with that daycare. The woman who ran it out of her home became like family to us. So, when we moved and needed a new daycare closer for our younger child, it broke our hearts to have to switch.
I’m glad we found Peter Pan & Wendy. We have been with them for 9 months now. My younger child, N, absolutely loves it! He was 19 months when we switched, and took to the new place right away. Part of it, I think, is that he’s the «baby» at home but got to be the «big kid» at daycare, with so many infants there. He eats well at PP&W, naps fine, plays a lot, and they tell me he loves to help the babies. He comes home each day with a new «project» he did — one week he even brought home his own plant! He did special Mother’s and Father’s Day projects, and they had a little Halloween party for the kids so I got to send him in costume. He’s always in a good mood when I pick him up and loves to tell me what he did and who he played with.
PP&W have a separate play room, kitchen, nap room, and covered outdoor area with plenty of toys. They make all their own fresh food for the kids; N eats lots of vegetables there! Kids can nap in a crib, pack n’ play, or on a mat, and are welcome to bring their own loveys.
The staff are extremely accommodating and have been flexible the times I need to adjust N’s hours or do extra time, such as when I’ve been sick or need to go to a school function for my older child. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because they charge extra for any time outside the contracted hours: vacation days, which start after 6 months, are still 50% of the rate; late fees start 5 minutes after the scheduled pickup time; and extra hours (early dropoff or scheduled late pickup) are time and a half. On the one hand, since N only goes two days a week I find this kind of bothersome; on the other hand, they *are* running a business and their rates are more than reasonable (much less than other big, fancy daycares in the area and much, much less than a nanny) and their business is taking care of my child and making sure he’s happy — which they do well, and he is!
The bottom line is that this place is clean and cheerful, the staff are friendly, warm and professional, and the children are happy and well cared for, all for very reasonable rates. I highly recommend.

Our son has been attending Peter Pan and Wendy Daycare for 3 months now. We could not be happier. I conducted a lengthy and thorough search of daycare providers upon our move to the neighborhood in January 2014. He even started at one daycare, but after a week, I sensed he was not thriving, and I had a knot in my stomach every time I dropped him off. Then I found Peter Pan and Wendy and I discovered it IS possible to feel nothing but fantastic and 100% sure of your decision, and to leave smiling when you drop your child off with someone.
Tanya, the owner, is warm and sweet with the kids, but also very professional and wonderfully direct. Our son has learned so much in only 3 months in her care. He is a great sharer, and I credit her with this. Also, Tanya has initiated potty training, and it’s going very well.
The atmosphere is cheerful, impeccably clean, and there is a huge yard that she has covered with soft black playground material. They even do gardening! Tanya won me over in the initial visit, when she said, «We want the kids to know tomatoes don’t come from the store.» Food is provided, and it is so nice not to have to scramble to get his lunch and snacks together every morning.
Tanya is opening a new location nearby very soon, so there will be space available! I cannot say enough good things about this daycare. Oh, and when we pick him up, our son points to the door and says, «More, more?» because he has so much fun there.

I really liked this place. The place provides children with a fun and exciting learning environment in a loving and warm, home-​style atmosphere. It is safe and fun!
