Pathmark

I’ll be generous with this oddball supermarket when others might not be. Three stars for a set of ‘intangibles’ which appealed to my sense of the absurd.
First, the neighb where this rather glum store sits is in a sullen, resentful-​looking neighborhood near (but not near enough to derive any benefit from) the Brooklyn Chinatown. Bare-​bones urban blight. One of the sidewalks leading up to the store is dotted with tiny pyramids of human waste; thanks to local derelicts and winos. Now, while this environment would make girls squeal… I’m amused. At least its ‘for real’. Crumbling curbs and mealy asphalt and unearthly quiet. No signs, ads, neon, or PA systems. Morose blocks of hangdog window-&-door shops; kitchen-&-bath; wheel alignment, tire supply, iron works. Places that don’t care about foot-​traffic. This Pathmark apparently doesn’t either. Not sure this Pathmark cares about anything very much. Eh so what?
At least its BIG. Its the size of a Pathmark you might find in the suburbs. Probably the largest I’ve seen actually in Brooklyn (not in a plaza or adjoining an expressway). This is a giant store for one you can actually walk up to, straight off the sidewalk. The parking lot is a trudge, okay. And its such a huge store that if you find yourself in the back of the store… in that lot. well then, you just enter-​through-​the-​back rather than going around to the front. It feels ridiculous. Its like, for forklifts. You feel like you’re a Mexican who forgot his hand-​cart. Its so strange that its kinda fun. No frills, no signs, no help, no nothing. Refreshing, somehow.
Inside, the store is pretty… seedy. No other word for it. Cracked linoleum; not swept; everything a little tired and sad and ratty. All of the departments (bakery, deli, etc) look threadbare. But the aisles are enormous. That’s a treat. Room to swing a cat in. [Nothing is more irritating than shopping in demographically dense New York and constantly having to shift and move and adjust for other bodies milling around you, ghetto-​drips always in one’s way. That’s the norm.] But not in this store. You can hover in front of an item for fifteen minutes – reading labels – without having to move. Bravo!
Next: the store design is weird with aisles in strange places and queerly organized. But there are a lot OF aisles – and a friggin’ ton of items in each one. An explosion of product variety. Choices GALORE. The aisles are actually so long that just one aisle can contain things-​that-​normally-​stay-​separate. Cleaning products, baby gear, pet, candy, and dairy, for example. But the main thing is the crazy AMOUNT of choices, not their arrangement.
Hoot: the signs dangling above each aisle are only readable at the start of the aisle. NOT helpful, but again: wtf? Just gonzo.
Checkout: gum-​chewing, hoop-​earringed, big-​boobed, good-​natured cashiers; with smiles and wisecracks. More merriment.
Bottom line: a place so slouchy, its actually good. Gritty and raw, rather than phony and plastic. An enormous atoll of food in the middle of the Sargasso Sea of Brooklyn. Pro tip: close to a ‘D’ train stop and a ‘B9’ bus stop! Now, you can’t beat that with a stick!

This is one of the worse supermarkets that I’ve ever been to.
Came here by accident, meant to go to the pathmark near gowanas, and will never return.
My main issue is their meat selections. There aren’t many and what they have is either expired or close to expiring.
The place also isn’t as clean as it could be.

I come here when there is usually good deals or I just want to shop. It would’ve gotten 5 but I thought that they didn’t deserve it. I was in line with more than 15 items. There was only one available cashier and as I was waiting, she decided to tell all the Chinese customers waiting in line to go to the express. Everyone on the line had more than 15 items so it offended me since she was like there are express lines, go there.

My family regularly shops here and this is why:
*This is the closest thing I can get to an affordable grocery store in New York (sssshhhh.other than Key Food).
*I like that it’s open ²⁴⁄₇
*Yay, it actually has a parking lot
*I found organic coconut oil for $ 4 and some change
*There’s a wide selection of foods to stock the fridge, freezer and cabinets with
*Plenty of in-​store deals
*They also have a downstairs parking garage which is convenient to use during inclement weather
But, I will say this:
*I never bought meat here, it didn’t look fresh
*It doesn’t look as fresh and clean as I’d like
*I didn’t buy from the bakery or even produce come to think of it
So yeah, they will see us again and again.

This is my neighborhood Pathmark closest to me, it’s a decent location, clean, shelves are well stocked, totally the opposite of the location that is near the Atlantic Center. However, it still does have some flaws.
*It is often very crowded in here, so give yourself some extra time before arriving
*All of the staff isn’t so friendly
*The fruits seem fresh, but for some reason all their bags of grapes were open. I found that to be very odd
*Supermarket wise, they usually have the best sales, but some of their items are overpriced.
* You have to bag your own groceries, probably my biggest issue with Pathmark
* Good luck finding a working cart if you come on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
In sum, take advantage of the sales, try to shop late at night since the store is 24 hours, and bring a newspaper for long wait on the line here.

This is the closest pathmark to where I live. This location is a little weird, there are 2 parking lots. One entrance is on 60^th street which is the lower level and the other entrance is on 61^st street which is the upper level.
Came here on a saturday around 7:00 PM. Store was not too packed. Not much of a line at the registers. March is frozen food month and most of their frozen items are currently on sale.
Overall, it is your typical pathmark but seemed like it is a little smaller than other locations.

I have visited this supermarket well over a hundred times. It’s one of the biggest and closest supermarkets in my vicinity so if I ever feel the urge to go on a binge for junk food and soda, I would just head on over to this supermarket!
Pros:
— It’s got pretty spacious aisles so you can maneuver two shopping carts around each other easily.
— There is a wide selection of products, and they have a weekly changing circular available to browse online at their site to show the various items they have on sale for the week.
— There aren’t many spills that aren’t cleaned up immediately, and there’s no strong awful odors in this supermarket from any of their products.
— If you are like me and like wasting spare dollar bills trying to be the next millionaire, there is a vending machine to buy lotto tickets of sorts! (Good luck!!)
Cons
— Staff aren’t what you would call friendly.
They honestly aren’t. Don’t expect smiles or friendly conversation here ladies and gents!
***With the exception of one amazing red haired cashier here whom I talk to whenever I check out and she’s the cashier helping me! She is the only exception! ***
But I also have never gotten into any disputes with any of the employees here so I would say it’s more they are there to do their job and not be your friendly neighbor as well type of attitude.

Expect to be treated like a jerk. Get in and get out of there.

No more Pathmark Savers card. I lived watching my balance go down. Also I went on line and out coupons on my card. I AM NOT HAPPY.

This place needs a ton of work from management. Lines are always pain staking long. The upside is the deals you can find on almost everything every week. Meats and produce your better off staying away from. To sum it up your better off coming here in the overnight to avoid long lines and packing your grocery or going elsewhere altogether.

I’m about to go food shopping… This is either going to go really well or put me in an awful mood…
Iv been here infinite times! And I had ups and downs coming here but even with the ups and downs I still enjoy my weekend food shopping trips here…
Ups:
–they never seem to run out if any produce…
The way the area is sectioned out
–lots of weekly sales
–cheaper then your local supermarket
–restrooms clean
–self check out is actually fast
–huge parking lot
–AC is always up high in the summer time
Downs:
–the staff can be pretty rude…
— Really impatient…
–the store can be messy
–weekends are cowered
–the bakery section is limited
The customer service is the worst… there’s no actually service
The good and the bad kinda evens out… huh… Oh well… been food shopping here since I first moved to Brooklyn… feels like home…

Writing this review as I’m waiting on line to checkout. Long lines and empty registers. Can’t complain about others having more than the 15 items limit at the express self checkout lane since I go there, too, right now, literally. Haha.
This Pathmark is always stocked up and is very clean. Don’t usually pick up fruits and veggies here cause their produce aren’t that fresh (make a trip to Circus Fruits instead, just a couple avenues down).

Using a raincheck here is ALWAYS a hassle since the cashiers can’t do BASIC math.
There is a woman that works in the Customer Service desk that is plain NASTY and RUDE to customers. I’ve overheard her talk down to people (It was soooo bad, I had to contact their corporate and report her!) UNACCEPTABLE.
Lines can get ridiculous. I don’t understand why they never have enough checkout lanes open on weekends!
1 Star for being the closest grocery store near me.

Let’s be honest, this is not my favorite place to shop for groceries. However, they are open 24 hours; so they get a star for convenience. They have a good sized parking lot for those who drive but this place looks like an abandoned warehouse from the streetside.
When we walked in, there were no carts available and no one to welcome you. No one even asked if we needed help the entire time we were there. I think you would get more attention at a bodgea then at this place.
The cleanliness was satisfactory. I saw more than a handful of open items. There also was a lot of clutter (carts, boxes, etc) everywhere.
A pet peeve of mine when going into a store (of any kind), is when the shelves are not fully stocked. UGHHH! If I go to this store to buy it, then why is it not on the shelf?!
Anyway, they have good sales in their ad which is why I assume people come here in the first place. You just need to be careful what you buy «on sale,» because you can easily make your wallet cry. Our cashier was super nice; but also, super slow!

This place is getting two stars. One for a huge parking lot and another for being open 24 hours!
The produce is fine, although you always have to check the expiration date! I’ve found several things expired here before. They do have good sales and it’s cheap. They do not have a lot of healthy alternatives but they are trying a little.
The worst thing about this Pathmark though is their nasty employees. I’ve encountered many of their staff who have been rude and talking about the customers. They stand around and laugh at some of the customers that don’t speak English. I don’t want to be mean but you work at Pathmark!

We came here few times with my wife because they had great sales, but the sales where misleading, shopping cart broken, front of the store always dirty, i came to ask customer service lady question she leaves and ignores me, then after she comes to speak to me shes then on the phone screaming to get the meat dept which they never respond, then we go to the register cashier looked sad, didn’t know what she was doing, only gave then one star because of the sales if not the sales theirs nothing to do here, oh and be ready to wait long wait long lines… also when came out parking lot some one hit my car which sucks new white car, alot of old foks come here who don’t know how to drive becareful

Cons:
1. Staff are somewhat unfriendly.
2. Crowded!!! If you ever want to experience Manhattan rush hour traffic without driving. This is your spot to do it.
3. Prices are somewhat on the expensive side, so check the circulars for deals.

I’ve been coming here for many years some of the problems I have with this location is theres always cart in the parking lot. Who ever is in charge of keeping the carts out of the lot is not doing their job. I’ve told then
This multiple times and they tell me their manager can’t do anything about it to call corporate… the selection is ok. For whatever reason they almost never have Arizona green tea. I’ve since stop going I this location and stared going to shop rite and key food. Way better selection and they keep the stores cleaner.

The signage isn’t too great. I walked around inside the building and was about to give up when I saw a woman with a cart get into the elevator. I figured it couldn’t hurt to follow her and I found my way into the store. This is a convenient grocery store with low prices, especially if you pay attention to the advertised sales. You do need a card to take advantage of the savings, but the sign-​up is easy. While it’s not the closest store to me, I’ll be returning here because they accept American Express, which is always a plus in my book.

It’s a pretty big supermarket with a parking lot on the outside and in a garage. If you park in the garage you’ll have to take the massive elevator lift up to the main floor. It’s a bit creepy taking the elevator, but it’s your only option from there (unless you walk outside and around to the market.) All the options you’ll find at other supermarkets can be found here. I’ve never had an issue except this one time when the cash register refused to let me use my discount savings card after she had swiped thru all my items already. How hard could it have been to just take my keychain and swipe it for me to save $ 15? Anyhow that’s the only complaint I’ve had here.
