Pat Votta Piano Tuner

Mr. Votta tuned my piano last week and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The instrument hadn’t been tuned in 15 years and he was able to bring it back to pitch. He went above and beyond by adjusting some of the mechanics, keys, etc… and did so at a great savings to me, thus avoiding any outsourcing. He is one of a dying breed of true craftsmen in his field and is fee is extraordinarily reasonable. He tunes digitally as well as with the traditional forks, thus ensuring a fully comprehensive experience.

I had my piano tuned by Pat for the first time this morning. He is extremely experienced, knowledgable, meticulous, and skilled at his craft. The job was a bit more involved than he had anticipated, but he spent as much time as he needed to get it exactly right. Pat was great! He talks to you about what you tuning needs are and doesn’t try to push extra work on you to get more money. With how often I played and how often I intended to tune the piano, he knew that it wasn’t worth it for me to go the whole nine yards in terms of tuning. Instead, he suggested I go for a basic tuning. The piano sounds great, and it’s just what I needed!

We have an upright Steinway piano that hadn’t been tuned for over a year. Our daughter is a serious classical piano student and practices for about two hours a day. Even though the piano didn’t sound particularly out of tune to my ears, I knew it was overdue for tuning. The guy who used to tune our piano was out of the country and I really wanted to get the tuning done already.
So I turned to Unilocal and saw Pat’s stellar reviews. I gave him a call and he came over today. It was like he did some kind of magic. He spent a good two hours meticulously working on it. He is so knowledgeable about pianos and their mechanics. It was fascinating to talk with him. After he left, my daughter came home from school and tested it. The piano literally came back to life — it was as if someone had wiped a dirty window clean and everything was in gorgeous color again. It brought tears to my eyes. Pat is truly a magician. Lovely person, too and he charges very reasonably.
We’re considering upgrading to a medium grand piano and will bring him with us to help us choose. I trust his ears better than anyone in my family. He’s an incredibly capable and honest piano expert. Thank you Unilocal for helping me find him!

Pat is the best. He not only has over 40 years of piano tuning experience (if I remember correctly), but he’s also really sweet. It was great conversing with him as he figured out all the weird quirks of my piano (which I had gotten for free off of Craigslist). Even though the piano had not been tuned for quite some time and really isn’t anything special, Pat was extremely thorough and thoughtful. He was very careful not to over tighten the strings or accidentally damage the piano in any way, and he explained what he was doing throughout the whole process. It was also very easy to schedule an appointment with him. Overall, I would highly recommend him!

Pat came to our home and tuned our Yamaha beautifully. He was very dedicated to getting the sound exactly right and talked us through his approach. He was totally pleasant and professional, and we felt very comfortable with him in our home.

Fantastic. Pat tuned my grandmother’s piano that had not been tuned in over 25 years. He was incredibly patient and thorough. I had total confidence in his ability and approach. We got a free spinet piano that was a full note flat. Pat was lovely, and tuned it as though it were for a turing professional. I couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Pat has worked on my pianos in Park Slope (and those of friends) for at least 20 years now, always doing fine, careful work (these days on a Kawai studio upright). He’s based in brownstone Brooklyn (Brooklyn Heights), but takes care of pianos in Manhattan as well, and has worked for various of the schools and piano companies over the years – a man who knows his pianos, not just a guy with a wrench and an electronic tuning fork. And I wouldn’t think of buying another piano without his OK.
