Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge

When I went there last, they told me my daughters eyes were fine. Didn’t feel right after the 2+ hour wait. Went to my family eye specialist and come to find out she was border line to have her low vision reversed. Horrible! Never going here again let alone bring my children!
Oh and they have their workers and patients daily trying to run people over! If you’re going to try run over kids on their way to school at least make sure you’re not pulling into your place of work. Just saying, not the best idea.

On Monday, August 31^st I had very limited vision in my right eye, On, Wednesday, September 2, 2015, (Yes! Two days later!) I could see better than I’ve ever seen,. I was born sixty-​six years ago with a myopic right eye, and over the last five years the vision had deteriorated to a dense whitish fog. I was bumping into walls, objects and people on my right side.
On Monday, August 31^st, Dr. Elias Aliprandis, encouraged me to consider cataract surgery, as he had six months before. He pretty much repeated what he had said six months prior. Dr. Aliprandis gave me all the information he possibly could and left the decision up to me. He said he felt confident he could restore the vision I had prior to the cataract forming, and that he felt he could probably even improve on that vision as well. I had a choice of the type of surgery I preferred and I chose the laser surgery.
I spoke with Cheryl Tait in the front office about scheduling and the added cost of the laser surgery, inasmuch as that portion of the surgery was not covered by my insurance. Cheryl provided me with financing information, which was seamlessly processed while I was there. She scheduled me for surgery on Wednesday; gave me the necessary prescriptions for drops to take along with other necessary instructions. She told me to call her if I had any questions. And call her I did. Each time, Cheryl was calm, professional, clear and helpful. A darling.
Efficiency didn’t end with Cheryl though. Don’t know how they accomplished it, but the entire staff at the Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge is extraordinary — pleasant and efficient from the front desk to the technicians who conducted tests and gathered information about my vision prior to my visits with Dr. Aliprandis.
The offices and bathroom are bright and clean. The waiting room is spacious and new. The equipment appeared to be more technologically current than equipment I had seen in other ophthalmology offices. A video was available to educate me about the procedure I was about to schedule. Everyone was on track.
Doctor Aliprandis performed my surgery at the Brook Plaza Ambulatory Surgical Center. A car was sent to pick me up, and car was scheduled to take me home. The facility was a repeat of the Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge. From the front desk, to the anesthesiologist, to the prep technicians, the nurses, and other staff — all were friendly, efficient, professional, clear and helpful. After the operation, there was a slight soreness and a small bloodshot area at the bottom of my eye. That was all. No swelling or need for pain medication.
The staff of both organizations, and Dr. Aliprandis served to eliminate any fear I had about my surgery. I felt I was in good, knowing hands and a fearful dilemma was changed to anticipation and curiosity. Very nice.
I am very fortunate to have been referred to both of these organizations through Health Check Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY.

So I urgently needed to see an ophthalmologist two days back for an eye infection. I started my search at 10:00 am calling at least 10 offices throughout Brooklyn getting declined each time with responses like… they are booked up and wouldn’t take a quick emergency case, the Ophtha. was on vacation and the front desk associate was unhelpful appointing another in the practice.
Finally and Fortunately! I called Ophthalmology Associates of Bay Ridge, Rosemary at the front desk was very helpful and patient in getting my information and assessment before setting up an urgent walk-​in appointment.
I had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Stephen Conrad who was knowledgeable of my symptoms and had a compassionate approach, gave detailed instructions on applying my treatment and did not rush my visit. Although, my eye sight is well I would certainly use them again for emergent care and recommend them to all that regularly need eye care.

My fiancé went to this place two years ago to get his eyes done with LASIK. His results were wonderful. Now that my wedding is coming up, I want to be able to see without glasses or hassle of contacts. The doctor is thorough. I went to surgery and by the time it was my turn I was relaxed in good hands. I was ²⁰⁄₂₀ by next day. I have to do some follow-​ups for my eyes and he is thorough. He is reassuring that everything is going right as plan. Their finance plan helps a lot and you know if you qualify right then and there. I feel that everyone should take the time to do the free consultation.

I am writing this review for my dad who recently became a patient of Dr Conrad. My dad had an urgent eye condition and had to be seen as an emergency, and the staff was so helpful, especially Monica the office manager, in giving him a same day appointment. Dr. Conrad is an excellent doctor, patient and willing to educate and explain my dad’s condition which ended up not being as serious as we thought. The office is busy, but that’s to be expected as the doctor did not rush the exam, and really has an excellent bedside manner. I really liked that they have a bilingual office staff and Monica was able to explain some stuff in Italian for my dad. Really appreciated the care he got for his condition which will have to be followed a few times a year. Great experience all around.

Wow… Beyond ridiculous wait time. Don’t come here if you take appointments seriously/​value being on time.
As previous reviewers have stated, it’s at least a two hour wait to be examined by a doctor. Not sure how a modern practice/​business is able to run this way.
Dr Conrad was really great and very thorough. I you don’t mind waiting all morning then it might be great for you. I don’t think I would go back because of the time issue, since then I’ve found a great doc who is closer by and has better scheduling.

Well, it seems that excuses are being made by management of this place. I don’t think that the disorganization in this office should be blamed on one specific person not being there. Not finding my appointment, attitude, and ETREMELY long waiting time can not be because one person was not there that day, this is not a one person operation.

Excellent doctor but the front of the office staff is horrible, rude and unprofessional!!! Also the wait time is never less than 2 hours, what’s the point of an appointment if you have to wait this long. Hate to say good bye to a great doctor but not enough to keep coming back.

These doctors and the staff are thorough but be prepared to wait HOURS. My daughter waited 2.5 hours on a Saturday morning for the pediatric specialist and my mom & I have both waited 2+ hours for the retina specialist. I understand that eyes need to tested and dilated, but I shouldn’t have to wait 2 hours to start the process.

The actual Ophthalmologist that work here are very nice, and just based off that i would give this place 5 stars.
However, the front desk receptionist can be so rude (depending on which one you get). Kinda a long wait as well.

While you can get frames anywhere, I do NOT eff around anymore when it comes to my actual eyes — That’s why I travel into another borough for MY eye Dr.
–Not so quick little eye story:
I woke up one morning with that nasty virus/​infection that B&L bottles were so generous to carry a couple of yrs ago. While I didn’t know what was going on at the time, I did know that I was in severe pain and had an extreme case of photo-​phobia (that means i constantly felt like i was staring right into the sun even in the darkest of rooms). At the time, I lived across the street and somehow successfully was able to stumble my way into their offices at 8:30am. The receptionist, upon viewing my agony & discomfort, immediately ushered me into an examination room and turned off the lights for me. When the Dr arrived shortly after, they made sure he saw me first. As it turns out, I would’ve had permanent vision loss if i was not treated immediately and correctly. oh, btw — i obviously didn’t plan my little situation so, no — i did not have an appt and yes, they were more than accommodating.
Its important to LEARN THE DIFFERENCE kiddies! Do your research and learn: Optician vs. Optometrist vs. Ophthalmologist
My point? I’m just glad it wasn’t lenscrafters that was located across the street from me. I trust my eyes to the only Ophthalmologist center I know around.
