This is my go-to neighborhood produce mart that usually has great deals on fresh fruit. I always make a point to see what the weekly deals are whenever I walk past OJ’s, which is pretty much every day. This week, I’ve been taking advantage of 2 for $ 3 sales on blackberries, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, and mangos. Jackpot! I don’t usually buy vegetables here but I believe their prices are usually comparable if not slightly more expensive than Associated and Pioneer, though I don’t feel it offers as much variety of green veggies than another produce mart further down Flatbush towards Parkside. Pantry items such as sauces and canned goods are typically a bit more expensive.

In a neighborhood where everything seems to close at sundown, 24-hour food stands like this one are life-savers.(What’s the deal with that, anyway? Vampires?) OJ gets 4 stars for simply existing when I needed it most. Also, they have almond milk. I don’t even think the Associated down the street carries almond milk. But then, that Associated kinda sucks. Oh, and a super cute kitty cat that just sort of hangs out being cute.
