i have NEVER in my life had such a bad experience at a nail salon. first, and i know this shouldn’t even be part of a review, but perhaps it’s an ongoing problem, because the previous reviewer mentioned it… when i stopped in shortly after 8pm, as the salon up the street i was meaning to go to had just closed, there were two very loud, angry women getting their nails done, with three running, screeching children in tow that they were screaming at and beating the entire time. one of the patrons was shouting at the woman who was about to do my nails that she«don’t know how to do nails.» i should have taken that as a sign and left. i REALLY needed my gel manicure changed, so i tried to stick it out and hope for the best, but it was SUCH a mistake. they had no wheel of gel colors to look at, and tossed a tray of about 20 different unattractive bottles of color at me. the older woman knew i had to remove a gel manicure and had hardly had me soak my nails in acetone for 30 seconds [gel manicures are difficult to remove] before taking an electric nail file DRILLTHING to my nails which are already very thin and sensitive. as she was VERYROUGHLY doing this, i attempted to ask her to be more gentle, my nails are thin, etc, but she was too busy arguing with the adjacent client and berating me to «CHOOSE A COLOR!!!» perhaps she could tell by my terrified look, but more probably my reluctance to decide which lurid, opalescent polish i wanted her to wield against me, but she was a BIT more gentle with my second hand. thank god it’s the hand i use to write with. however, the damage had already been done. on one of my hands, two nails are filed through TOTHENAILBEDINTHEMIDDLEOFMYNAIL and are raw and painful. my fingers are tender and touching anything with my fingertips hurts. [my boyfriend is unsympathetic and doesn’t think this is an excuse to get out of washing dishes, but ITHURTS. it hurts to type right now, in fact.] just as she finished the second hand, i asked to pay for the polish removal and tried to leave, but she protested: «WHY? YOUNOLIKECOLOR???» in the background, someone was beating their five year old. i threw ten dollars at her and ran out. i went to the nail place i love today and got a fabulous gel manicure, hoping it would strengthen my nails and make them less sore. and it did. but only marginally. i have no idea how long it will take this horror to grow out, and how much longer my fingers will hurt. i guess i’ll have to get used to it… :( PLEASEPLEASEDONOTPATRONIZETHISESTABLISHMENT. the staff is rude, the place is dirty, the other clients are off-putting, and you MAYVERYWELLLEAVEINJURED. really, this is the worst experience i’ve had anywhere in a long time and i hope someone will see this review and decide NOT to go here. try Long Nail up Broadway. they are professional and sweet and inexpensive, and they do an AMAZINGJOB.

So the $ 15 mani pedi caught my attention, I’m not going to lie. My expectations weren’t high by any means… but seriously?!? Nothing could have prepared me for the hot ghetto mess I encountered. At first glance the place is clean enough but the clientele is scary. I had to listen to someone talking loudly on their cell phone about their baby daddy and his philandering ways… The entire time I was there. A group of about 5 girls came in for the drag queen special eyelashes and of course even more loud and ridiculous conversation. In terms of the actual service, I didn’t find the place to be very sanitary. I mean I had to ask the technician to clean the sink in which she wanted to put my feet and she looked annoyed about it. I’m usually not a germ freak but if you would have seen the like of which walked in there believe me you would understand. The manicure was nothing more than what I could have done at home myself which was not cool. I kept having to ask the lady to fix and file and what not and I just get a basic manicure. Why is this so complicated. Perhaps I should go easy. I’m sure she was distracted by the ghetto chronicles in the back ground too.
