Yeah this place is bad, but it’s so close to me I keep on ordering from it. Pretty sure they make the fried rice with yellow rice. The lo mein noodles are some very odd noodle consistency I’ve never experienced before. The main dishes are generally pretty tasteless, particularly the noodle dishes. The last lo mein I bought had a weird chemical scent to it, but I ate it anyway because food. The egg roll was alright. This place pretty much just serves to fill a void of chinese food options nearby.

I am so sad to write this update, but the truth must be told: I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice with 4 fried chicken wing. I get my food and start to eat it. Then I see one of the rice that did not looked like a rice. It was a Worm! a freaking rice Worm. How do I know is a Worm, well very easy. I do know how to cook, and I had had spoiled rice that it used to grow this type of worm. That was the Carolina rice. For unknown reasons, this rice would produce worms, that is why I stop buying that rice. I never expected to find it in any restaurant’s rice, for the obvious reason that if the rice goes bad, and a cook can easily notice it, the rice must be thrown in the garbage. So that is it. I don’t think if I will ever be able to eat chinese food ever again. I do have a picture of it as evidence. The rice is straight, the worm has lines across the whole body, the worm at the end is pointy, not curved like the rice, for those who would doubt how I know the difference.

Good — The food is greasy but it tastes good. The portions are huge. Bad — In the 10 or so times I’ve order from here, one time there was a green caterpillar in the steamed vegetables(dead) and another time there was what looked like a thin wood splinter, about 2 inches long in the lo mein, or maybe a bristle. It actually seems pretty clean in there for a Chinese takeout place, I’ve seen them scrubbing the cook surfaces down with soap and steel wool, and they have an A grade( ) with 7 points, which is very low, whereas M Noodle got 63 last inspection, which is like a C grade, but it looks cleaner on the outside so you might not realize it.(Even Per Se has 7 points). Anyway, I’m giving 2 stars because this is the second time there’s been something weird/inedible in my food, but I’ll prob order again in 4 – 6 months when I get an insatiable craving for Chinese takeout. The food tastes pretty good and you probably won’t get sick eating it!

It’s not perfect, but then again neither am I, and I love myself just fine. They do a few things well especially dumplings and they are very budget friendly so start there. I also enjoy the hot and sour soup. Beyond that I have not tried much, as I am often regretful when I order things like chicken or beef from places with backlit glamour shots of greasy entrees framing the takeout window. Bonus: Takeout gal is super cute and efficient and posesses some Jedi mind force for sensing what you ordered when you walk through the door and just magically pulls it onto the counter.

Been to all the Chinese spots in the neighborhood, and I will say that New Hong Kong Kitchen is the only one that I will ever return too. I get extra crispy deep fried tofu with broccoli in garlic sauce, size large with white rice– enough food for two reasonable people or the perfect amount for one gluttonous person like myself and they usually throw in a free can of soda and deliver it all for $ 7.95

Ordered from them three times already. The free soda thing, u have to ask for it but I careless about it. It’s the food. The portions are generous, price is cheap but food isn’t that great. Ordered general Taos chicken, taste was fine but way too much flour on the outside, could barely taste the chicken inside. Rice was cooked too soft and I think they added sticky rice to it. I’m Chinese myself, I know rice, period. Second time, ordered chicken broccoli, way too much sauce. Third time, order shrimp with lobster sauce. Smaller size shrimp than nearby Chinese places but taste alright. As long as the place gets an A from the health dept. it’s still worth a try. I would try the dumpling and ribs that lots of Unilocalers are saying good…

Best, cheapest and fastest Chinese take out/delivery in the neighborhood! I have tried many but none are as good. Veggies are abundant, fresh and cooked perfectly. Cho ho fun noodles are delicious and bean curd home style(crispy tofu) are awesome. Delivery is amazingly fast.

HONESTLY, that was the most terrible ‘chinese’ food I have ever eaten. I ordered the kung po shrimp which consisted of 4 soggy miserable looking worms that can hardly be expected to be considered prawns by any person with a sense of taste, a strong, healthy amount of raw carrot cubes, peanuts and celery. Digging deeper into the unkown realms of this questionably sized styro foam tray exhibition, I was greeted with only an overwhelming quarry of what seemed like a week old, aging brown rice. Thankfully, I ordered a combination plate and proceeded to plan B. The spring roll side order… My God. I thought, as I foolishly dived into the misleadingly crispy, steaming exterior of the New Hong Kong Kitchen’s finest brown vegetable pod. I cant even put a name to what was inside as whatever it was, died a long time ago and had be mutilated and raped to the point of non recognition. Gasping for relief, I practically inhaled the orange soda I order, the one thing I knew could be trusted in this display of unholy destruction of sustenance. My wording in this review may be alarming only because it is essential that you do not, under any circumstances buy their food and allow their business to continue serving our community. My dining associates were equally unsatisfied with their order of pork fried rice(it is beyond me how cooking rice can be done so horribly wrong), chicken wings that were undoubtedly taken from creatures depraved of sunlight and essential nourishment as even the almost blinding garlic sauce could not mask the hideous limps they had cut from these poor animals, and spare ribs that had less meat then a starving african child soldier. We immediately reacted and began our mission to end this injustice. Ringing New Hong Kong Kitchen to explain the situation, we were met with an incoherent buffoon of a man that was assumed to be the manager of this house of horror. Demanding a refund and his resignation, he assured us of a full refund(after we denied several portions of more unworthy worm shrimp) but we would have to wait 30minutes. Left to nurture our still hungry stomachs that began to feel ill(they still do as I write this 1hour after the matter was ingested), we waited, and waited, and waited. Call number two to NHKK headquarters, we were met with another proposal that was dismissed in round 1 of this war against tyranny, ‘give us back the food and you will be refunded with the amount you did not eat’… Any decent restaurant that decides to play games with customer satisfaction does not even deserve one star in my opinion. Left to stand naked in a corner against all odds, we regrettably fell into line. Digging thru the trash, we found most of the food and recieved 20 $ out of the 30 $ we spent back, still hungry, feeling ill, we use resort to fighting for justice online throught the media of restaurant review forums. We are making a plea for you to take your business anywhere else. I feel so strongly about this that I will leave my email address as a guarantee of my backing in this campaign to end the reign of chinese food terror that plagues New York City. Please do not undertake the risks of ingesting NHKK ‘food’. thankyou for reading.

I am giving them only one star simply because the delivery guy was such a jerk. He called my phone and told me to come downstairs. I was in my PJs and sick… hence my asking for DELIVERY. After multiple phone calls and arguing, I finally called and spoke to the woman I had placed my order with. She told me she would«ask him but he might not». Ten minutes later he buzzed and I let him up. He then proceeded to yell at me in Chinese. The only thing I understood was«no inside delivery». What’s the point of delivery if you’re not going to deliver??? He’s lucky I gave him a buck tip. Won’t be ordering from them again. And it’s not the best food either — but I guess that’s besides the point.

Best cheap Chinese in the area! Fast surface, tasty, and enough food for lunch the next day. Love the dumplings.

FInally, a place in Bushwick with good Chinese. The roast duck is delish and the special wonton soup is some of the best wontons I’ve had in the US. I can’t give them 4 stars because some of their dishes are a little jello-like. But yum on the authentic dishes.

Okay I’ve given several local chinese take-outs a try and New Hong Kong Kitchen takes a little trial and error, but it’s damned good if you order carefully. Can’t beat the prices. Bar B Que spare ribs are usually awesome. Dumplings very good. Hot & sour soup is really hot & sour. Bar b que chicken on a stick is totally awesome. Combo plates come with egg roll, the beef & broccoli, beef in garlic sauce, spicy pepper chicken are all good — large portions. Budget friendly is an understatement. Small order chicken on a stick, small bar b que ribs, spicy pepper chicken combo plate w/pork fried rice, egg roll, and two cans of your choice soda, will set you back $ 15. This is enough for 3 meals for me and it’s damned good.

Gross chinese food, they put too much sauce on my chicken and brocolli to the point where it was swimming in the semi-solid stuff. The best thing about the place is that they give you a free can of soda for orders over $ 4(which is basically anything), but it’s mostly cheap super-saver soda besides pepsi, coke and diet coke.
