Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHS) serves the metropolitan area of New York, New York. Through financial empowerment and affordable lending, NHS enables individuals and families to invest in, preserve and improve their Neighborhoods, their Homes and their Future. In addition to providing services throughout New York City, NHS is a community-based organization with targeted impact in the following Neighborhoods: Bedford-Stuyvesant, East Flatbush, North Bronx, Northern Queens, and South Bronx. NHS is a chartered member of NeighborWorks America®, a national network of over 230 community-based organizations in all 50 states.
NHS of Bed-Stuy is currently celebrating its 20th year of serving the community, facilitating the increase in homeownership and neighborhood preservation, and targeting issues (such as maintenance and rental management) which affect our clients.
History
Established in 1992.
NHS of Bedford-Stuyvesant was established to bring the array of services NHS provides to bear for the residents of the storied Brooklyn neighborhood. NHS of Bedford-Stuyvesant has served thousands of clients in the last 20 years, helping to equip them to build assets and strengthen their communities.
Meet the Manager
Richard T.
Manager
Executive Director Richard Trouth began his career at NHS on October 29, 2001 as the Homeownership Center Program Manager at NHS of Staten Island (NHSSI). After a year and a half in the position, he was promoted to Interim Neighborhood Director; in November 2003, was named the new Executive Director of NHS Bedford-Stuyvesant; Richard attended Boston University and the City College of New York (CUNY) and holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Sociology.
