History

Established in 2007.

When we first set foot inside the space for Miranda, a 100-year-old building on the corner of Berry and North 9th Streets in Williamsburg, we knew we’d discovered the place where our dreams would unfold. Miranda’s personality is a tribute to the charm and unique history of the area. Being ‘local’ is not just about ingredients — it’s about finding family in your community. And in this way, you can be sure that when you find yourself at Miranda — you’ll find yourself at home.

Meet the Business Owner

Sasha M.

Business Owner

Growing up in the culturally diverse NYC neighborhood of Flushing, Sasha developed her passion for good food and went on to the Culinary Institute of America. There she narrowed her focus on Italian cuisine and, through a distinguished scholarship, received the chance to travel and taste her way through Northern Italy.

Sasha dove into New York City’s culinary scene in 2000, working at Verbena Restaurant with Chef/Owners Diane Forley and Michael Otsuka, and at Raoul’s, a Soho staple. She also had a role on the opening teams for three successful restaurants: Gigi Trattoria in Rhinebeck, Alto Restaurant in Midtown, and Café Gray in Columbus Circle. It was at Verbena, where Sasha met Mauricio, (her future husband and business partner) that her entrepreneurial spirit began to stir. Together the two began the grueling — but exciting! — road toward their dream: Miranda. Today, the restaurant stands as a mergence of Sasha’s personality and passion, family and history, hard work and education.
