Mimi’s Spa

I came back here twice and the quality of the mani and pedi has been consistent. I had Rose during my second visit and she was just as a good as Mandy. My mani and pedi have lasted for 2 weeks with minimal chipping by the 2^nd week. Mimi, the owner, is also super friendly and nice. She has a very personal touch with each and every customer and you don’t really find that at almost any nail salon. Come to Mimi’s and you won’t be disappointed.

Went here Saturday afternoon for the first time for a mani and pedi. It was super crowded, which isn’t surprising for a weekend. I didn’t have an appointment, but Mimi took me anyway. She was very honest about the wait time– which I appreciate very much because most places will tell you 5 minutes, when they really mean an hour.
Anyway, the place was very clean and they had a large selection of polishes. They hang up your coat for you and offer little cubbies for your shoes. Cindy did both my mani and pedi and she was very nice– she also did not try to sell me on extra services, which my old place did and I couldn’t stand it. Their hand dryers are really good and they even have plastic bags available so you can carry your shoes home when you get a pedi. It was $ 27 for a mani and pedi which I thought was a good price for the area.
I took away one star because some of the clientele was super obnoxious– Face Timing with the volume up on max– for like 20 minutes– about 5 inches away from me… go away lol

I’ve been a frequent customer of Mimi’s for years now. The owners are splendid in their customer service.
Why three stars you ask? Because the services aren’t always consistent. There were a handful of times a few nail techs whom tries to skimp out on a normal manicure routine. For example, the past month I’ve got different techs working on my gel mani, few times they tried to not soak my hands before cleaning up my cuticles or do an absolutely half ass on buffing/​shaping and not painting all of my nail. Or, tried to reuse tools from their previous client (yes it really happened). Seems to me the techs assume I’m not a regular and I wouldn’t be familiar with the services.
Overall it’s a hit or miss depending on who does your nails. Beware and don’t be afraid to speak up. I still frequent the salon, just learned to say no to the ones whom do a poor job and rather wait a bit longer for someone whom is better.
P. S. It can be crowded.

I adore this place. They are clean and efficient. Have a huge array of colors available in Essie and OPI. They keep their colors up to date and usually have the newest releases on the side.
I’m a fan of their gel manicures. The UV lights are built into the tables so you don’t have to put your hands in a gross portable light. Also, they use fingerless gloves to protect your hands from the UV light. This is one of the only salons in Bay Ridge that does this. Gel manicure costs 25 dollars which is a fantastic price point for the care and attention they give.
The salon is usually a bit crowded but that may be due to the fan base of loyal customers. The waits are usually short and the owner is incredibly friendly and nice.
I wouldn’t go to any other salon if I lived close to this one.

Love this nail shop! I’m big on customer service so I hate when I go into nail shops and receive subpar customer service – Or the 10minute wait quickly turns into an hour. So not the case with this place! They took me in right away and had great customer service from start to finish. Illy nails came out super cute… Mandy even did a seeing I showed her on my phone. Loved it & can’t wait to go back. Ask for Mandy when you go

I came in for my 1^st time getting powder tips little warning they cost $ 50, they took a while to apply and came out looking really great. Not even 1 week after and they started lifting and beginning to come off, I went in and the owner said «We fix for free» … okay i sat down and she puts pink nail glue at the spots that were lifting and powder. You could tell it was a horrible job, there was glue all under my nails. Nice place for pedicures though

Came here around 12PM for a mani and pedi. I was greeted by Mimi and did not had to wait although there were a lots of customers. I expected a lot more from the pedi, but it was ok. I messed up my big toe a little and the lady didnt seem so happy about it. My nails seemed kind of sloppy by the time I left which I had to fix up on my own after I got home. My mani and pedi came out to be $ 27 (their price has increased). I don’t think I will be coming back here just because I feel that it is way too expensive to be paying over $ 30 to get your nails done ok-​ly and not perfectly.

You know, a lot of people swear by Mimi’s and I’ve given it two chances now. Disappointed each time. Each time, the girl has been incredibly rough and both experiences were painful. The first time
I went I got a manicure, she cut my cuticle and I had to ask her three times to disinfect it. She told me «can you wait until I’m done.» No. I can not. On top of it, I developed a wart where she cut me. It’s been a few months since then and since I live nearby I thought I’d give it another shot for a pedicure. The girl I had did a half-​hearted job. On top of it, she burned me with the paraffin that she put on my heel and I left with a blister. I just don’t understand why everyone goes here but I don’t go to a nail salon to leave injured or with a wart. Honestly, it’s worth the walk to latoue on 82^nd street.

I saw this review going so much differently when I first walked in…
So, I’ll start off with the positives: I was able to walk in, the place was clean, the owner/​manager was nice, I only paid $ 25 for a mani/​pedi.
Issues:
1) I was the only customer with a coat on that no one offered to take it from.
2) I said mani/​pedi, and Jessica, the broad doing my nails, didn’t give me any options. Oh, but maybe she assumed I was going to pick the cheapest option because I’m Black.
3) Jessica did a terrible job on my nails and toes. The gap between my toenail and the skin has a very obvious piece of dead skin still there.
4) My feet weren’t even buffed. Yep, and when I asked, she tapped them wit the buffer and went about her business.
5) She left the paraffin on my heels, whereas other ladies were wiping it off, and as a result, I almost busted my ass getting out of the chair.
6) my nails are shot. She gave them terrible shape and couldn’t fix them after I critiqued. Then, she proceeded to paint some spotty BS on my nails. If someone can master painting my nails with pastel colors without me seeing any portion of my nails, why can’t you?
7) I can’t with this place. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Great service! The salon can get crowded and they are a little bit more money than other nail salons in the neighborhood however they do a great job and owner Mimi is very sweet and accommodating.

Came here twice for a mani-​pedi lured in by all the great reviews (once without an appointment, once with). They were super busy. I had to get my mani once in the pedi chair and once at the drying station so I basically had to hover my hand the whole time. Very uncomfortable. The second time the tech was extremely distracted and kept looking around, doing a fairly sloppy job. You may get a decent mani-​pedi here (depending on how much caffeine your tech had) but you won’t get a pampering experience.

I used to live in bay ridge. And always went there. Now I moved to nj, and i can’t find service which be at least the same. In nj mani/​pedi are more expensive, but the quality is worse. I recommend Mimi salon for everybody!

I love this place so much. Never had a bad experience or a bad manicure/​pedicure. Great selection of colors, and I have seen Mimi send girls to the drug store for more colors if someone had a special request.
I highly recommend their spa pedicures, worth the time and money! Takes a full hour, I always get the peppermint one, comes with hot stone massage and it’s pure heaven.
The place is almost always busy, but people move quickly — well organized, and I never felt like I was being rushed out. once my nails are dry, I get up and go! This isn’t the type of place where you’ll be hanging around in your robe anyway.
The only thing I would love to see them start doing more is really good nail art. Other than that, highly recommended, you will not be disappointed.

I go to NY twice month and usually have my nails done back he in Chicago, however, this time around I didn’t manage to get my regular no-​chip done on the weekend before traveling. With business travel and Holiday dinners with clients I needed to have my fingers look presentable and I Unilocal-​ed nail salon in the area of my hotel; Mimi’s came up and I decided to give it a try. Let’s just say I might have my nails done in NY now instead of my usual Chicago spa! Helena, my technician have done an outstanding job and my mails look impeccable. Clean little place, street meter parking and lovely atmosphere– what else can a busy girl ask for??? Can’t wait to be back so I ca try another one of their 200 color choices!

Best nail salon around!!! I come all the way from central Jersey to this place (though I am born & raised in Carroll Gardens)! MiMi does everything to make your experience exceptional. SOOO many color options too. I usually get a mani/​pedi ($ 25) and I have gotten a spa pedi ($ 35) and I’ve never been unhappy. if anything is bothering you while getting a service, tell her! she will see to your needs asap!

This place is ALWAYS busy, no matter what time of day I’m walking by. So I was surprised there was no wait when I dropped in with my sister for pedicures. They were efficient, friendly and even gave us shoulder/​neck massages as we were waiting for our nails to dry. Best of all a pedicure was only $ 16!!!

The best nail salon I’ve been to. I get gel manicure all the time and it always comes out beautifully. I come all the way here from staten island. I used to go to places closer to home but I’m often left dissapointed. But I’m so glad to have found Mimi’s. They are clean and meticulous. And they are also very friendly and helpful. I always recommend Mimi’s to my friends.

When I first started coming to this place, I was mesmerized by the cleanliness. however, the wait time is very looong. I have found that Mimi picks and chooses (sometimes) who should go next by order of familiarity. So unfortunately, I have not felt comfortable coming here anymore and have found another place a few blocks further.
*I only got manis and pedis. my manicures never lasted a week but my pedicures did.

Went here with my sister for a mani pedi today. I literally had the best mani pedi of my life here.
It’s $ 5 – 10 more than I usually spend and oh so worth it. Before we even left the salon my sister and I declared this place our new regular joint.
First of all, the owner, Mimi, is amazingly welcoming and friendly. She kept patting my pregnant belly and rubbing my back and asking how we were doing. The pedicure is magical. You get super clean stations and supple leather massage chairs. The techs exfoliate your gams with sugar scrub and then moisturize your dry, cracked heels with a paraffin wax wrap. Then nail Polish is expertly applied while your toes are separated with soft foam two separators — not paper towels.
Then, during the mani, gloves with warm lotion are placed are on your hands. The tech gently pops your finger through the plastic gloves and cut your cuticles as the lotion soothes and moisturizes your tired hands.
Finally, they help you over to the drying station where these cool orange dryers deal everything up quickly.
$ 25 well spent! Treat yo self to Mimis! We plan on trying a spa mani pedi next time.
