Very nice guys working the coffee bar — offered ordering advice and didn’t rush us. Definitely get the donut holes — completely worth the calories! Hubby had the macha hot chocolate made with almond milk — you could also get it with hemp milk or dairy. Interesting and good!

I ordered the peaches and cream drink– it was alright. I think the tangy peach flavor overwhelmed the matcha a bit. It was definitely refreshing, just not my favorite. The place itself is cute and there are some nice looking matcha flavored pastries available. The guy taking my order was super nice– the guy making it had an ever so slight attitude. Oh well!

I love matcha and I love Brooklyn. Ergo, I love Matcha Bar. It’s one of few places outside of old-​fashioned tea houses that takes this precious green powder seriously.
The environment is warm and welcoming, the staff are super friendly, and most importantly, they make a mean mug of matcha.
Grab a cup in store or take it to go. Either way, you’re in for a treat!

Very creative drinks and décor. I can see why people like this place. Honestly though, I was very disappointed. As an Asian I know how good matcha can taste. I was so excited about this place, only to find out that matcha flavors are too diluted. We got watermelon matcha, white peach matcha and flat green. None of them made us want to go back again. 3 stars for the creativity.

I fell in love with Matchabar as soon as I saw their wallpaper. A very funky, green haven. Their drinks are spot on and their pastries are delicious. Everything I’ve tried has been wonderful, and I can’t wait to go back. I sat for about an hour reading and enjoying my Jasmine Matcha and matcha donut holes. Some places make you feel like a burden for sitting longer than 5 minutes, but the employees were warm and welcoming. See you again soon!

All I can say is… Matcha matcha man, I want to be a matcha man. Love this place! Had the matcha donuts, macaroons and shortbread. Favorite was the shortbread, it was very matcha-​y.
Drinks — best were the coconut chai and Fuji apple ginger. Mint lemonade was good too… but drinks aren’t sweet at all so you can add sugar to your hearts delight. Very refreshing otherwise and can satisfy any matcha craving!

I’m a fan of matcha, but I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed. I was walking around the neighborhood and came across this place. It was very cute, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from Brooklyn. I tried the matcha chai latte cold. There wasn’t much flavor other than the matcha, which was pretty bland to me. Cool concept but not for me.

It was alright to try something different, but probably won’t be coming back. The jasmine matcha was strong, but honestly, the matcha flavor completely washed out the jasmine flavor. I was expecting a subtle hint of jasmine, but failed to notice it. The apple ginger matcha was unique, but also disappointing. If I were to describe the fundamental taste, I would say it tastes exactly like apple sauce. The mint-​lemon matcha is identical to the familiar taste of a green tea lemonade. I expected the lemon flavor to be strong, but I wasn’t expecting it to taste that much like just lemonade.

My friends were around the area and needed to kill time and needed to warm up. Found this place and we all appreciate match green tea.
The pastries are mediocre, dry and eh. Lacked the tea flavor. All our drinks, which I forgot were all good.
location is nice. Service is blahhhhh. Just not welcoming at all.

a specialty matcha shop! my dream come true!
i am used to pretty simple matcha lattes so i wanted to get something a little different. i went with my barista’s recommendation and tried the hemp cinnamon matcha latte. it was nice and mild.
the shop is cute. it feels pretty organic.
i would have tried the pastries but i was on my way to smorgasburg and needed to save tummy room for those snacks. next time!

Tight space filled with overbearing customers speaking over your shoulder while you’re trying to enjoy their somewhat decent drink in your chair and eating their average biscotti as well as their above average canele. Meh. I can skip.

Cute nice and refreshing place w a variety of matcha options, both iced and hot. Also sweets made w matcha if you desire!
I got the classic matcha iced and it wasn’t sweet, and you can add sugar if you’d like but I liked it the way they gave it to me. For those who don’t know, Starbucks green tea is sweet and heavy w the milk. This was far superior in taste and refreshing.

My expectations for this place was extremely high, so maybe that’s why my experience wasn’t as awesome as it was for others. I guess it also doesnt help that I am a Matcha snob, and I’ve been drinking Matcha ever since I could walk. I got a lot of the matcha flavored desserts, and I would only get the brownie again (tad bit on the salty side, but still extremely rich and decadent). The donut bites just tasted like a normal donut bite. I wish they actually flavored the donut with matcha powder instead of barely flavoring the icing with matcha.
Maybe I chose the wrong drink, but I got the iced Matcha latte, and it was pretty tasteless…

Finally my obsession is complete! Matcha 4 life!
After eating several calories worth of MatchaBar ice cream at Odd Fellows I had tried my darnedest to book it to matcha bar. But alas I do not reside in Brooklyn let alone Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This location is very heavy on the construction gentrification zone. I sat by the window and watched them making a 5 story modification for the newest Brooklyn Williamsburg implants.
I had to try a few treats with my dirty matcha latte. At first I had asked for a shot which at 11am was followed by nervous laughter and a comment that they’re doing boozy nights soon. Once they figured out I wasn’t an alcoholic I had my matcha latte with a shot of espresso in hand. It was good and worth the trip.
The matcha flavored donut hole is also a good purchase. I also bought the macaroon but it has too much coconut and chocolate flavor which surprisingly masks the matcha even though it’s green enough.

MATCHABAR IS AMAZING!
I am obsessed with matcha and freaked the eff out when I stumbled upon this store. MUST GO if you’re into matcha like I am. So many different drink and food options to try!

I loved the matcha so much, my boyfriend surprised me with a Matchabar starter’s kit from them. I’m still practicing to whisk a nice cup of matcha like matchabar!
The Choco & green tea bundt cake was deliciously washed down with a matcha latte with almond milk.

I really wanted to love this place. I fell in love with the concept, theme, and I do like matcha, but I just didn’t think it was that amazing. I ordered the matcha flat white and although I do know that they put matcha in there, I couldn’t taste it as well or the matcha wasn’t nearly as strong as I had hoped. It was nice that they asked for my milk preference & they do cute latte art on top. The snacks on the display were pretty good and went well with the flat white. If you’re getting the mini donut, the matcha claze on top is quite perfect. The cannele was pretty good as well — just not blown away by the drink :(.
Maybe if they come up with a matcha croissant I’ll be back, otherwise I’ll be checking out other drinks at their location in Chelsea.

Before my boyfriend and I took a tour at the Brooklyn Brewery, we had a few minutes to kill, so we decided to grab something quickly at the Matcha Bar just down the street.
As a HUGE fan of anything matcha, this pit stop was almost more exciting to me than the brewery tour (but don’t tell my boyfriend I said that). The Matcha Bar was easy to find; it was designated by a sign with the shop’s name on it protruding from the wall.
When we got inside, the café felt homey and hipster (so basically like every other café in Brooklyn). The thin table attached to the wall was decorated with succulents and the café even had a shelf of vintage books to peruse while you enjoy your matcha. Because my boyfriend and I were pressed for time, we simply ordered and left, but I would love to spend some time here writing or reading a book.
As I was overwhelmed with all the matcha goodness in the store, I played it safe and ordered a matcha latte with soy milk and a matcha donut hole to share with my boyfriend. Although I was intimidated by their insider knowledge of matcha, the baristas were very friendly and patient with me as I scanned the menu and ultimately decided on my first choice.
The latte had a sweet decoration on it when it came out and it wasn’t scolding so I was able to drink it right away. The star of the show though was really the donut hole, which was a sweet glazed donut complimented by a matcha frosting. INCREDIBLE! It curbed my sweet tooth and made me one happy camper. Plus, the prices for everything are VEY reasonable.
I will certainly be back here!

Have been to Japan and matcha has always been my favorite since then. Didn’t know Manhattan had a coffee shop specialized in matcha, here I came.
Matcha bar serves not only signature drinks but also classic ones, hot or cold. I got the Fuji apple matcha and my friend got the almond vanilla latte, both were impressive. Didn’t at all feel satisfied, we went ahead and ordered the matcha donut and macaron. They are both small in size and easy for share.
Plenty of space inside with matcha decoration, lovely.

Their matcha drinks come unsweetened so you can add sugar or adjust your drink to how you like it.
PROS:
— Hot Fuji Apple Ginger Matcha — this was good and perfect for the fall weather. This didn’t need sugar as the apple juice flavor helped naturally sweeten the drink. I couldn’t really taste the ginger flavor as the fuji apple was more prominent. This drink was pretty good regardless. 4.5 STARS
— Iced Vanilla Almond Matcha Latte plus a little bit of sugar was yum! Tasted like normal vanilla matcha latte that I typically get a Starbucks. 4 STARS
THE OKAY:
— Iced Peaches & Cream — it’s good and didn’t need a lot of sugar as its already sweeten by the peach syrup/​cream. 3 STARS
— Hot Matcha Latte with Coconut Milk — the coconut flavor was very subtle (practically nonexistent) and because this drink has no sugar added it was very bland. You can add sugar or syrup if you like. 2.5 STARS
