Masjid Al-Farooq

This mosque is the worst. Guaranteed if you sit in the women’s section you will encounter bickering women. And during the Imam’s speeches the women and children are so loud you can’t even hear him. Same thing during Ramadan the noise level is so loud it is hard to hear the prayers. And the iftar well sometimes people bring their own food along with restaurant food that is served so no guarantee that it is all Halal. Besides the fact the girls don’t use gloves to serve and it gets pretty chaotic. The classes on Islam there are pretty much for beginners and the Quran classes are basically all taught in Arabic. The mosque caters to the Arabic population there and you will see a lot of division amongst the sisters. A lot of bossy self appointed leaders too with no one really in charge. The mosque has tons of beggars hanging outside. And sometimes there are fights outside the mosque and sometimes even on rare occasions inside the mosque also. A warning to Jewish converts to Islam if you come and let them find out you are a born Jew don’t be surprised to have someone call you out on it. White converts I have never seen in this mosque besides myself so we are the odd man out. While the African Americans all sit together and stick up for each other and so do the Arabs, Pakistanis, etc a white convert is left basically defenseless. Islam definitely does not unite people in this mosque rather differences divide people. One more tip there are mean women that will scream at your children and they don’t care if they make them cry. And the bathrooms are disgusting.

Going to Jummah should be a great experience, that wasn’t the case here. Upon entering the women side, I was lectured for not wearing an Abiya (I had a long skirt on). Then I was entered, many women gave me dirty looks, I guess for not wearing black.
Sorry, I wear my best clothes to the masjid. The women quarters is horrible. Five floors, and the women get a third of the second floor. Islam states to treat women with the highest respect, sticking us at the corner of the 2^nd floor, is not respect! There is only 1 speaker in the room set between the women and men division, but pointed more towards the men side. Hello, masjid leaders women come to hear the khatba as well. Many women brought their grown male children with them, and allowed them to keep their shoes/​sneakers on. Please prayer goers leave ur shoes at the door. As I was attempting to leave, the women were scared to walk down the staircase because men were in the way, okay men please let us women go, I’m no 2^nd class citizen. As I walked down the stairs with female family members men were saying estigfurallah behind us. Well my apologies that some
Of u men were not taught manners, and to let a woman walk ahead of u. It seemed very discriminative towards women. Never ever going to again. Fix these problems Masjid El Farooq!

The staff is highly trained in Salafi Islam (think Saudi Arabia). A very awkward use of space, I challenge you to find the prayer area without help. The sisters are disengaged to a very tight and out of the way space, its not cool.

It’s a masjid. What is there to say that is bad?
