m.a.e. vintage and luxury consignment

‘Gem’ is the perfect word for this spot. Such great selection at very fair prices! I got a BCBG dress for $ 60 and I love it! I get compliments all the time. This is one of those places you can find quality staples, quirky fashion pieces, and timeless style. Friendly service, too! My only request would be that they stock more shoes size 8/8.5. Sadly, we can’t all have small feet!

I went here for the first time just to briefly look around and ended up purchasing 10 designer items for only around $ 195, which actually valued between $ 500-​$ 600. This place is an absolute gem of South Slope and has a great selection of affordable and trendy clothing/​shoes/​bags/​etc. The service is excellent and I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who is fashion-​forward, but also not trying to put a dent in their wallet. I will 100% be back again :)

Popped in a couple of times to check out the wares and now I can say I’m not just a browser but also a seller! So far so good, sold a couple of decent pieces and will switch out what’s gone unsold for other season appropriate pieces. Marci is great, and I’m super happy to live close by so I can get in and out easily. I may not get as much as I could online, but I love supporting a local business with loyal clientele.

What a gem! This place has a nice collection of shoes, clothing and accessories. Picked up two dresses, two pairs of shoes and a clutch. Not bad at all! Theresa was also super friendly!
I am definitely come back to this place soon!

I love this store! It’s very clean and well organized. So far there’s a different girl working each time I’m there but they’re all helpful and easy to talk to as I’m searching through the racks. I have yet to be disappointed. My only suggestions would be to include a measurement chart for shoes and maybe an increase the amount in more flat shoe options as not all of us ladies can walk in heels. :)

Stumbled upon this gem while walking around the neighborhood. Every brand name I love was in there. Here you can actually finally get a DVF wrap dress and still have money left over for lunch. The lovely lady working was great and I cannot wait to go back. Seriously… quality clothing at phenomenal deals. A true Park Slope treasure.
Also– no tax. The price you see is the price!

Absolutely amazing experience at this store! Marci is beyond friendly and incredibly helpful. M.A.E offers a wide range of styles and sizes and the prices are well worth it. They also have a wonderful sale section with high end designers I would never expect to see at such affordable prices! A great range of shoes too. Love love love this place and would recommend stopping by to anyone.

Nice place with some decent stuff but those on 5^th ave are better

I both consign and buy from M.A.E.
I am a a designer consignment store expert in the NYC/​CT area, as I have been doing it for years. I have in recent years decided only to consign with Marci at M.A.E. for two reasons.
1. Although I may get a little bit more money when I consign elsewhere I know the reason why is because things are being priced ethically at M.A.E. People who may otherwise not be able to afford a high end designer will have the opportunity to buy something special. Marci caters to both spectrums of the slope community. It is a inclusive and non-​judgemental environment.
2. Although I really do have my own style and know what I want most of the time, Marci and the other people who work there are great stylists, and they cater to all body types.

Nice selection and very helpful and friendly staff. She even held my baby while I tried things on. I am a fan and will return again for sure.

Love this store and they just moved one block south into a bigger location, with two dressing rooms and twice the merchandise! They have great stuff — mostly dresses and shoes, but also skirts, sweaters, blouses, purses, sunglasses and some pants. To the reviewers who said that it was expensive, I say, only if your idea of a thrift store is weeding out the stained clothes in the 5 $ bin. This place has beautiful vintage pieces, designer pieces and more modestly priced basics — but everything is well below retail and thoughtfully selected. e.g. I got a Ralph Lauren wool shift dress for 60 $ and a practically new peasant blouse for $ 30. Her shoes are fantastic and unusual — I have gorgeous, vintage yellow, wood platform, t-​strap sandals for $ 40 from here.

Agree with the five star reviewers. Sorry for the one person’s bad experience and she is coming from the pov of a seller so maybe the incredibly sweet and helpful Marci turns all nasty in that scenario, but if you are simply a person whose great taste exceeds your clothing budget, this is a Great store!

I hesitate to tell y’all about this one, lest you snake me for the good stuff… but it’s ALL good stuff! Designer labels, oftentimes brand new, marked waaaay below retail. The staff is helpful but not pushy, and they’re always spinning my favorite tunes. Always something new, so if you see something you like, grab it; I’ve had my heart broken more than once by thinking I could come back to buy a piece another day. And the shoes! Oh, the shoes… ~wistful sigh~

Prices are a little high here, but they have a really nice selection of designer stuff. Great for women’s dresses, shoes, jeans and bags.

For anyone that even considers consigning with this store WATCH OUT!
Marcy the owner told me ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ when I brought in my clothes. I did
not look at the crude contract she gave me. I ended up with a check for
$ 45. She does not answer her phone ever. I sent her an email.
She called me and told me my take was 35%. She is a liar and
deceiver. Her items in this store are junk, no designers that I
can recognize. She keeps the price way below acceptance.
The positive reviews here are bogus — most likely all her friends.

M.A.E. and Marci are awesome! I bought some Manolo Blahnik shoes for my wife from the owner Marci and it was an excellent experience — over the phone as we live in San Francisco. I highly recommend this shop.

I LOVE m.a.e. Starting from the time I discovered it last summer, I stop in almost weekly, and there are ALWAYS amazing new things in. The selection and the prices are great, especially for designer vintage and never worn/​barely worn new items. (and if you’re not into names, not everything is a high end label either) Every purchase I’ve made is not only a bargain, but garners compliments from people on the street. The owner is so nice! She’s never pushy, and I appreciate that she’s always honest about if the item fits me well.
Shop at m.a.e., you will not be disappointed!

You know how when you find that shop with such great stuff you almost don’t want to tell anyone because they might snag the best stuff when you’re not there? Okay, I shouldn’t tell my secret, but since I live in California but spend a lot of time in New York, I figure it’s safe enough. And besides, I want the owner of this amazing treasure to keep it going for a long, long time.
m.a.e. is a sweet little shop: on one wall is all designer clothes at inexpensive prices — I understand it’s all consignment, so really reasonably priced. Pucci, Chloe, Chanel, and even some classic Banana Republic thrown in, because it’s all about style, too.
Then the other wall: GASP. Shoes. Shoes. Shoes. In real girl sizes. Sure, there are size 5’s and 6’s, but also 8’s, 9’s and 10’s. And oh, did i mention that they are mostly Manolos, Louboutins, Pradas, Cynthia Rowleys, Jimmy Choos… and for a fraction of the price? Yeah. Pretty dreamy. I never thought that I would own a pair of Manolos, but I now have 2 pairs, and for what I would have paid at Macy’s for 9 Wests!
And then the back wall is handbags and accessories and original artwork for sale… and the counter where the very sweet and friendly (but not overbearing at all) owner rings up your glorious purchases. (Along with the iPod that plays awesome music.)
So yeah, the secret’s out. I’m usually really good at keeping them, but with m.a.e., I HAD to tell everyone. Not everyone wears a size 9 Manolo Blahnik, right? Uh oh…

I bought a really sweet top for $ 10 and the collection of items had great prices! There a nice little fitting room to try on the finds. I spot Chanel, Henri Bendel, and Louboutins (might be gone now) But I was there two weeks ago! She is really sweet and has a great store! I look forward to going again this weekend or the next again! The shoes were lovely but for my size 9 feet. only a few shoes not much.
