Lovely, animal-friendly staff, good sandwiches and pastries and a cozy space. In the summer, we wait on the bench outside while they prep our food(and then bring it outside); in the winter, we wait on the cute benches or stools inside. Specialty sandwiches are almost always worth it, the doughnuts on Saturdays are the best. Been coming here for seven years and will return every Saturday morning for as long as I can.

Neighborhood gem with $ 1 coffee!!! They have fresh muffins, great scones add cookies, and a delicious yogurt parfait with fresh berries and homemade granola.

This is a fairly standard coffee shop; what sets it slightly apart is its above-average food quality and variety. Like many of its neighborhood competitors, Lula’s coffee is near the middle of various coffee continua: it handily beats typical bodega brew but lacks the complexity of richer(usually more expensive) blends – and it’s neither dirt cheap nor overpriced by any means. But yes, the food, as other reviewers have pointed out, consists of thoughtful sandwiches – a surfeit of non-ethnic breads, meats, cheeses, dressings, combined at reasonable portions, prices, and nutritional complexes – suited for breakfast, lunch… hell, even an early dinner. Lula’s the kind of place you can go every day, precisely because while it’ll never knock your socks off, it’ll never disappoint.(Or so I assume; I’ve only been there once lol…)

Love the iced chai here. Only qualm is that the iced tea is mint? Which I personally don’t have a huge problem with but would’ve loved to know before hand. Mint tea isn’t for everyone and something I need to prepare for. Had a gluten free cookie and it was way better than I expected. Glad I found this place, it’s close to my new job and I’ll be back in often.

Teeny tiny adorable space with a great atmosphere and friendly, personable employees. I had a bagel with smoked salmon, dill, cream cheese and onion, and I preferred it over Bread Brother’s bagel. It’s not the best bagel in the universe, as per their signage, but it was tasty and I’d come back for another. Their breakfast«empanada» is also also nice and filling, I could see it being just the thing to start your hungover mornings off, especially in the winter.

I’ve been coming here since it opened 9 years ago and I adore this place. Not just because I love the coffee and the sandwiches(#9 on 7 grain w hot sauce is the) but for a few other reasons. There’s a good vibe in there. I like to sit there and plan my day for 20 minutes. There is usually some good music on and it varies. It’s clean and has the general feeling that it is run by someone that gives a shit. I see the owner in there all the time working harder then anyone. He also has a knack for picking good staff. All that said it does come back to one thing which is the coffee. It’s dam good. Its always at the right temperature. Also the cappuccino is amazing. Lula bean you are a credit to the neighborhood!

I don’t drink coffee but this place has a surprisingly decent tea selection so thumbs up. I loved the Gen Mai Cha and recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy a simple and earthy green tea. Free wifi and cozy décor were a plus. I just wish the staff could have been friendlier. Their demeanor made me hesitant get another cup of tea, which I wish I didn’t have to feel like in a nice café like this so I’ll give 3.5 stars. There’s maybe around seating for 8 – 10 people. I was there from 8:00 am — 9:00 am and it wasn’t crowded so seating might not be too hard to get. Don’t forget the $ 7 minimum charge for credit card policy.

A great neighborhood coffee place to grab coffee. The drinks are well made and the service is prompt(though not particularly warm). I enjoy their lattes and café au lait. There is minimal seating so it might be hard to find seating during peak times. Food items look appetizing! I thought prices were reasonable.

Nice atmosphere but they are overpriced and they only have to go cups. Get some mugs for the people who want to stay and sip their coffee! You have mugs to hold sugar on each table, get some more! Reduce waste!

Been my staple since they opened. The café employees do an impeccable job and I hope they are rewarded as such. Highlights for me: the # 6 sandwich, iced latte, granita, mint tea, and free fresh mint water. Everything on the menu is excellent. Can find a good pastry or bread and vegan treats. The flowers are a nice touch as a later addition.

Hands down the best cappuccino in the neighborhood. Every time I drink one it makes me think of Florence. Bring cash.

Had to stop by in between meetings and it was a cute little café with lovely décor. The latte was great! Didn’t get to try the sandwiches or snacks but would love to return and try!

My wife and I frequent this coffee shop regularly on the weekend since it’s the closest to our apartment. The coffee is good but they have a horrible $ 7 minimum credit card policy. The horrible policy forces you into purchasing larger sizes, additional pastries and you’ll still be short a dollar or so of the stupid minimum so the cashier will try to sell you something else you don’t want. The main products a coffee shop sells, coffee/tea, is in the $ 2-$ 5 range having a $ 7 minimum is a signal to me that the owner is trying to drum up additional sales by taking advantage of the customer’s convenience of using a credit cards.

Spent a long afternoon into evening at Lula Bean a few weeks ago. I needed a place to study before boyfriend’s show started a few blocks away, after we arrived early so that he could set up and you know, do band things. Like Ashley F. said, the space is tiny with even tinier tables, but I was able to sit for a few hours and get things done. I somehow managed to ignore the free wifi but also didn’t plug in my headphones for a bit because the music had a good vibe and the atmosphere was chill enough not to be distracting. The other stationary patrons typed away on their computers while customers floated in and out. I enjoyed an iced chai tea latte for the first half of my study session. I made the mistake of facing the counter and all of the delicious food on display, so eventually my stomach took over and I found myself ordering the most adorable mini quiche with a cuppa hot tea. My quiche was spinach and cheese and tomato, which was warmed to perfection and almost too cute to eat. Luckily I got over the cuteness and put it into my face, for which my taste buds and belly rejoiced. I wanted to try the pastries but I decided not to dip into the sweets. If I’m ever back, I’ll have to give them a try. The staff was also quite pleasant, and didn’t roll their eyes at me when I did things like drop my fork and napkins everywhere and needed replacements.

Really LOVED this place! I was sad it was so far from our hotel, but I am so glad we came here! My friend and I took a Red Eye flight and landed super early on a Sunday morning. As we took the MTA toward Manhattan, we stopped in Williamsburg and had a delicious hazelnut latte! I haven’t had hazelnut in my lattes in a long time and forgot how delicious the flavor is! I was very impressed with the flavor and the creamy consistency of foam and milk. There wasn’t a weird layer of foam over liquid, the entire latte fused into a nice creamy drink. Will definitely return if I am ever in Williamsburg! :)

Cute little coffee shop right near the Grand Street L. The space is tiny, but they have free wifi and a few small tables to do work… if work is a thing you like to do. Little pillows on the wood benches make it pretty cozy to sit. I didn’t eat anything, so I cannot attest to the taste of the sandwiches, cookies, pastries, and other menu items, but they certainly looked and smelled wonderful. They do sell Fine & Raw Chocolate, which I love. Would definitely stop back in next time I’m nearby. Bring cash if you don’t think you’ll meet the $ 7 credit minimum.
