Best Polish in the neighborhood. Love the tripe soup and the pierogis. Never much of a wait for a table.

Hello Polish food! Thank you Lomzynianka to let me experience first hand this awesome Polish food. I might be Polish deep down inside because I love potatoes… HAHA. This was my heaven. Potato this potato that. The place is CASHONLY, so make sure to stop by the ATM before stepping into the cozy décor. Coming on a Monday night, this place still became super packed during dinner time. The waiter wasn’t that aggressive at serving us, but I felt like it was okay because the food made up for it. We came right before the rush, so we had seats right near the door. Décor is a bit weird with taxidermy on the walls hah, no judgments though! What’s with the deer? Sorry I’m ignorant haha. I loved that they gave delicious veggies complimentary before you ate to really clean the palate and offer a refreshing state. For a party of 3, we ordered 2 polish platters and a Hungarian pie. THAT was more than enough. We were so stuffed and the bill came up to 49 something along with 2 polish sodas.(Didn’t try the sodas, personally but I didn’t hear good things about it) The pierogies were awesome and I wish my stomach could fit more. What really sparked my interest was the stuffed cabbage! I loved the texture — it really hit home for me and melted my heart. For some reason, I love stuff that you don’t really have to chew and it had a punch full of homey earthy flavors. The bigos was a similar punch of flavor, but it wasn’t as soft — still good though! The mashed potatoes were a bit dry, but when soaked with the bigos was on point too. LETMEGETTOTHEHUNGARIANPIE. Dang. I am a potato-lover and this pie will probably be my fav pie in the entire world. Forget wedding cakes, let’s all just have potato pancakes for life. It is a potato pancake with some beef sirloin and some sauce with it. It wasn’t soggy and the juices worked so well together. Good thing there wasn’t an overwhelming amount of sour cream. It was a perfect combo of tangy and salty — not too powerful. I could eat this all day everyday. Will come back to try the soup!!!

This place is amazing. If there is a God, this place will remain the same forever. The décor is awesome and makes me feel like I’m at my Polish grandmother’s 1980’s kitchen. I’m not Polish, but when I go here I feel like I’m a part of the Polish crew. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. It’s not in your face friendliness, but you can tell they appreciate your business. The food is always very good for what it is. Potatoes, cabbage, pierogies, borscht, etc. You really can’t beat it. I would recommend going there on a cold night with a nice bottle of wine. Did I forget to mention its BYOB? Heyyyyyooooooo. You can’t beat it, especially when you can stuff yourself on $ 10.00.

A tiny little place that serves large portions. I came here on a Saturday night and had to wait 20mins for a table for two. We ordered the white borscht and it was definitely a must-get. We tried the polish platter, the Hungarian pie and extra pierogies. Big mistake… we couldn’t finish it and had to pack it home. Polish platter is a good way to tryout a couple of different dishes if you’ve never had polish food. Hungarian pie was a bit too much. Flavor was a bit overwhelming for my taste and I think I would’ve been better off with the regular potato pancakes. Pierogies were good although it took me a while to figure out which one I was eating every time I took a bite. Overall, this a great place to go to but it’s a bit too small so try not to go over 5 people when you come here!

3.5…bordering on 4 stars. Finally made it here after 4 years of my fiancé mentioning it. Glad I got off my only-can-have Asian kick and tried something different. Especially on a 5 degree February day. When other bad reasons besides this winter weather made us really need a comfort, soul soothing meal — the bowl of piping hot red borscht was the perfect start. Sweet and comforting. This is a must on a freezing day.(except for the dumplings — they tasted like flour and not much else). Complimentary veggie platter was excellent. Best cole slaw(no mayo!) I’ve had in ages and the carrot slaw was delicious and light. The entrees were heavy. Perfect stick-to-your-ribs winter meal. Stuffed cabbage was good, but i wasn’t wowed by it or the brown sauce. Mashed potatoes were terrible– lumpy– but probably light, as there was not a hint of butter, milk or salt. More like potatoes and water with some dill thrown on. Asked for dill sauce on side to help, but it didn’t. The platter– same deal, fried pierogies just okay. I’m not a kelbasa fan but that was the tastiest part of the platter. They need to update the online menu –is way outdated with low prices. Prices were a lot higher on the menu. I liked this old school place and the big, heartwarming portions were perfect… Just wish everything was very good, not just some items.

I’ve lived in the area for a few years now and have heard all kinds of advice from the Polish locals on where to get good Polish food. This place actually had mixed reviews on the whole from the people I spoke with, but a few people absolutely raved about it. Finally, my girlfriend and I had the chance to try it out. I now fall more into the«raving» category. Very cheap, relatively speaking. Very delicious. Their plate of pickled vegetables is a welcome complement to Polish cuisine’s otherwise«meaty» offerings, and their Borscht and Hunter’s Stew were the best I’ve had. BYOB with no corkage fee is a plus. Annnnd, they were very nice about seating and serving us even though we walked in at just about closing time. My favorite Polish restaurant in the area so far. Will definitely be back for more.

Great place for Polish food, and I feel like to give six stars. Huge size, a lot of super delicious salads and pickles free of charge, and hearty soups. Not all the main dishes are superb, but the bigos, stuffed cabbages, beef in dill sauce and potato pancake are so good. Hope they can have more choices for sweets and drinks.

If you don’t have the luxury of passing out after eating, I’d probably steer clear of Lomzynianka(which I still can’t pronounce if my life depended on it). If you’re coming here for lunch on a workday, have someone poke with a stick repeatedly when you get back to work so you don’t pass out; but if you do, don’t be surprised when you wake up with a Sharpie mustache. You’ve been warned! I ordered takeout. The Styrofoam container was filled to the brim with side dishes; a side of mashed potatoes(topped with what looked like thyme); red and green cabbage; shredded beets; and carrots. I conquered the container(and I killed my brother’s side dishes, too) My main course was stuffed cabbage with ground chicken, which resembles a dish my granny used to make — ground beef wrapped in grape leaves(she also used cabbage or green peppers) from our backyard — making every bite a nostalgic experience. I’d definitely revisit.

Came here based solely on the rave Unilocal reviews and I have no regrets. I split the platter and a Hungarian pie(based on our server’s recommendation). The pie was this beautiful giant potato pancake with goulash underneath it… So good. It was the best thing that I never expected to eat. I think Hungarian pie is probably my favorite food now, even though I’ve only eaten it once, here. I also ordered some apple juice that I ended up not being able to drink. It was a bit cloudy so maybe they make it fresh and I think it set off a little bit of an allergy.

Good food and great décor. This is a fun dining experience. Décor first: Amazing year-round holiday lights and knick knacks. Drapery on the ceiling that is far too low. Pixelated photos in giant frames. «The Bachelor» on a lone TV in the back. And many other things that are unnecessary and unexplainable. Now food: Huge helpings and cheap prices. Not familiar with Polish cuisine? Get the platter for a sampling of the best colorless food. You can’t go wrong with that. Also, and possibly most importantly, it’s BYOB!

My lord, this place was amazing. Stopped in here with my dad while we were in the area. I know there are tons of Polish Restaurants in Greenpoint, but after we saw this one’s excellent ratings, we knew we had to stop in. It is a very casual setting and is very«old school» The woman who was cooking was also writing her Christmas cards while the lunch rush died down. :) It is cash only and you seat yourself. Menus were already on the table and included a selection of soups, perogi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, etc. My dad ordered the mushroom barley soup and it was supreme. So tasty, not an overwhelming mushroom flavor. Tasted deliciously homemade and was so perfect on our rainy day! We ordered a variety of pierogi. The potato ones are delish. You can get them boiled or fried. We were expecting pan fried, but they are deep fried. Makes them so airy and delicious! They are served with butter, sauteed onions, and sour cream. We devoured them. I would go back here in a heartbeat.

Loved this place a year ago. Came in again for dinner recently and could not say the same. BYOB — No corkage fee, always good. Prices — Not unreasonable, but significantly more than it once was, and probably more than its worth. Food — Not what it was. Tripe soup — delicious. Viener schnitzel — still good. Stuffed cabbage — sort of cold in the middle. Kielbasa — skin lacked snap, tasted sort of like it was re-cooked. Pierogies — just ok. I still love that it feels like you’re eating in a little Polish home, and the complimentary pickled veggie platter, but everything else taken together makes me unsure about coming back again.

In the past 18 months since I have lived in New York, I think I’ve eaten at this restaurant more than any other in the city. The place reminds me of my great grandmother’s house in every possible way: drop ceilings, mismatched lamps, mounted deer heads, and hoards of people cramming in to eat Polish food. The stuffed cabbage is delicious, as are all of the versions of breaded cutlet. The kielbasa isn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s up there. The pierogi are stellar, in every variety, the potato pancakes are awesome, and the pickled vegetables are perfect. And BYOB means that dinner for 4,(not including a bottle of Zubrowka purchased from the liquor store next door) will probably run under $ 50. The place gets crowded on Fridays and Saturdays, which can mean a wait(at the door, to place your order, to get your food, to get your check, etc.), especially because they usually only have one person serving. But once you sit down, they are in no hurry to rush you out the door, so you can linger over your nalesniki and vodka until you’re good and ready. Minus one star because the waiting can be stressful if you are unprepared, and the lack of waitstaff makes me anxious when other tables start getting annoyed, but seriously one of my top choices in NYC.

I ordered some dishes to go and told him to select some items for three people. Everything we ate that he suggested was delicious. One of my top NYC eating experiences! Located in Greenpoint and walking distance from Torst and Peter Pan doughnuts. I suggest visiting all three while in Brooklyn! I never had Polish food before, and glad I chose Lomzynianka as my first Polish food experience. Here’s what I ordered: Stuffed cabbage Polish kielbasa Pierogies — potato and cheese, meat, sauerkraut & mushrooms, farmer cheese For NYC, pricing here was very reasonable.

Bomb A$# Polish Food I’m a big fan of Russian food and knew that Polish food was similar but with a twist and a greater focus on sausage and pierogies. This was my first Polish food experience and this was the right place to pop my(Polish food) cherry. The menu options are great and since I wanted to try a few things, I went for the Polish Platter(3 pierogies, kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, bigos and potatoes). I also got the White Borscht to kick things off. All of the food was delicious with the beef pierogie and stuffed cabbage being my favorite. Can’t wait to come back for more. Other notes: customer service was good and cash only.

The area seems a bit quiet for me but it makes this place a bit more of a gem! A little dark inside and not super fancy, very home like décor — what that means is… they rather spend their time on the quality of food versus the décor(at least thats what i think!) We ordered the fried meat pieorgis and the stuffed cabbage. It came with a very colorful veggie plate which was pickled and delicious, its mild and fresh, not canned. The fried meat dumplings were a bit doughy and kinda bland, i was hoping for some kind of sauce to go with it to help balance it but none was available. The stuffed cabbage was probably my favorite. It has a very meaty, comforting, mom just made you dinner kinda of feeling. We ordered one and it came with two stuffed cabbage with veggies and mashed potatoes. We couldnt even finish it. It was really good though, but its my first time so i dont know how much that can be said about it. Service could be a bit better. I did feel awkward being the asian couple going in for polish food and everyone gave you the stares. It took a bit to order and the guy didnt seem that friendly.

Favorite restaurant in Greenpoint! I have been here 3 times and each has been wonderful. When I heard the G train was closing for the summer my first thought was«Have to go to Lomzyniaka for pierogi». It’s that good. The Goulash is the BEST meat dish I have ever ate. It’s currently $ 9.75 and A LOT of food. You can tell its been slow cooked, and the gravy is thick and flavorful. I also get the pierogi, which I could eat everyday for the rest of my life if I had to. I have tried the farmers cheese pierogi, which is a little sweet for my taste. However, still a good choice. The interior décor is very unique and welcoming, and the service is always prompt. Everyone there speaks Polish but is welcoming and will accommodate you in English(dual language menu) so no worries. A typical meal for 2 comes to just under $ 30, and leaves us with leftovers to take home!

My family is Polish so I know my way around sausages, pierogies, potatoes and halupkies. We stopped here for Lunch one afternoon as I was craving some homemade Polish food. I ordered the Mushroom/Cabbage pierogies and my husband ordered the Potato/Cheese pierogies. When putting the dishes down on the table, the waitress confused the orders and gave me the Potato/Cheese ones which was a good thing because I liked them better and could steal more of them. The Mushroom/Cabbage ones were ok but I felt like they were a little dry. I was hoping this would be a cheap lunch, but with tip it was $ 20… a bit pricey for just 2 plates of pierogies in my opinion. Even though it was pricey, the waitress was nice and the décor reminds me of being at my grandmother’s. I mean there’s deer heads on the wall covered in glitter and holiday lights… if that doesn’t scream out being at your grandmothers I don’t know what does. Next time I’m going to get the Polish platter, can’t wait to try it.

We took a detour off the BQE one day to get lunch at Greenpoint. We always wanted to try Lomzynianka. We walked in and the place looks like someone’s home. Awesome! It’s a very small casual restaurant. We’ve tried the borscht soup with dumplings to start. We both loved it. Just be careful not to get any on your white clothing! It was delicious. We both then decided on the Polish platter which first get served with a pickled salad medley before your entrée comes out i.e. cole slaw, pickled red cabbage, carrot salad, pickle etc. It seems that every time I find myself at a Polish restaurant, I gravitate to the Polish platter because I like the variety and assortment. The Polish platter came with 3 types of pierogies, stuffed cabbage, bigos(stew), kielbasa, and mashed potatoes. I love Polish food because all this was just about $ 11 for one order. Awesome homey place! I would totally come back for more borscht with dumplings soup!

Good place, friendly polish speaking staff and nice selection of polish food. I tried the red barszcz with dumplings and the pierogi ruskie. The barszcz itself was delicious, a little sweeter than I know it from Poland but still very, very good. The dumplings were filled with mushrooms instead of meat which was a little disappointing. They were alright but nothing special. The pierogis were good. Again, a little sweet but still nice. The dough was fantastic. Nice texture. The filling was good but it could have needed a little more pepper and onions. Other than that, they were delicious. My Girlfriend had the pierogi as well. She had them fried, though. Don’t order this! Fried pierogi are an abomination! ;)
