Laundry Land II

Laundry Land has gone way downhill the past few months. I think it changed management or has new owners. They recently roped off the entire back part of the store to «staff only,» which means there are only a handful of washing machines available for public use. I went in yesterday and every public machine was being used, while 10 machines in the back were standing wide open. I asked if I could use one but was declined, so I had to wait an extra 15 minutes to do my laundry. Their drop off service has also gone downhill. They switched their detergent to some horrible Dollar Store stuff that I was allergic to and had a nauseating and overpowering scent (I’ve since been paying extra for Mrs. Meyers), and they gave me the wrong bag back a few weeks ago, which I didn’t realize until I got back to my 3^rd-​floor walk-​up apartment. It’s too bad, because this used to be a great laundry-​mat.

I live 3 block fro here and I do love coming to do my laundray here and the staff is amazing and the place is clean.
The HUGE NEGATIVE– Most of the dryers are broken so you either have to come first thing Saturday before anyone gets there or you have to come late on a regular weekday other wise you are screwed with the dryer. Last time I counted half of the dryers are broken for the washer to dryer ratio and some have yet to be fixed I have been going for a couple months and they still didn’t fix the dryer from that time and it keeps getting worse and worse.
Until the fix this situation I will no longer be going here.

I’ve been doing my own laundry here for 2 years. The entire staff is super friendly and keep the place clean. I’ve also given my dry cleaning and they always get it back to me on time. Great neighborhood vibe.

Laundry Land lost our stuff, about three bags of laundry and some dry cleaning. We were away when they returned the laundry, which they had picked up at our apartment, but out house-​sitter was there. So she didn’t notice that half the clothes and all the dry cleaning was missing. And we didn’t notice until we got back and I said, «Where are my suits?» We called, complained, and they located the suits and other dry cleaning. They returned them. No apology whatsoever. The trouble was that I neither of us remembered exactly what was in our laundry, so we lost underwear, t-​shirts, socks — a large amount, apparently. They seem completely disorganized and lost. Avoid. There are much better places.

Not much expectation I’m a laundromat. It’s a big place. Too big for only one folding table. The 4 plastic chairs are dirty, the dryers don’t dry (frustrating having to put your clothes back in over and over). And the vibe sucks.

Wow… They just jacked up the washer and dryer prices. $ 3.00 for washer and 5min/​25 cents for the dryer… Is it just me that this is little too expensive?

DO NOT USE THEM! I went to Laundry Land for close to a year. At first everything was fine and my clothes were averagely clean. Then, one by one, every load had at least one thing ruined. I didn’t say anything the first few times but the final straw was when I gave them my favorite jacket to be dry cleaned and it came back completely ruined and shrunken. Shrunk at a dry cleaner? I understand they send it out to a third party but when I called to ask what they planned on doing to reimburse me they said there was nothing they could do. They were completely not helpful and acted as though I was crazy to be upset. Needless to say I won’t be going back and I would steer clear if I was looking for a reliable wash and fold in Brooklyn

The best pick up and delivery service I’ve ever used. Never a problem, three years and counting, highly recommended. The delivery guy Ken is awesome. Thanks guys!!!

Just dropped off my laundry at Laundry Land. I was dreading doing laundry today, especially since the USA vs Portugal World Cup game is coming on at 6. However, I have a very important interview tomorrow so I needed fresh clothes. And I needed them tonight. In a moment of desperation, I decided to do drop off service instead of washing myself. I was willing to pay the extra rush fee. Enter: Laundry Land. Not only did they say they could get it done by tonight, but gave me a 50% discount for being a new customer. Thus, I just saved myself an hour and a half, AND got same day drop off service for 30 lbs of laundry for only $ 15. Actually, it was $ 15.35. But I didn’t have any change and they graciously said «Don’t worry about it». Thank you Laundry Land. Thank you.

I was here when it was the laundromat without the upgrades and drop off service. It was clean and doable. However, the laundromat at that stage was not even close to the friendliness of the workers who are there now or the response from the owner to complaints or comments. In fact, before there was no response, as in before the upgrade to the flat screen and to the drop off service. I like this laundromat for all that it does well, which is a great amount, and with all of its changes. People may complain about it, but its amazing to me that they now have a cashier and workers. Often times, before the changes, there would be no one in the laundromat for hours, and that was strange. Now, it’s bustling and does very well. Sure, there are space issues, with less machines available or more people at the same time, but that happens in most places. They keep it remarkably clean and the customer service is great.

This place has gone downhill since my original review… and it makes me really sad. I called in a pick up at 8:30AM Saturday morning… they came and picked it up. Not a problem there, but they failed to mention that I was not going to be getting it back the same day (which has only happened a couple of times and they’ve always called) and also failed to mention that they no longer do deliveries on Sundays! So I’m stuck without the bulk of my clothes for the next two days. Had I known, I would have gone elsewhere or been better prepared or waited until Monday night for them to pick up.
And for those who may deem me lazy, I would go pick it up, but I’m currently injured and if I was going to do drop off, I would have done it a block away, not here.
I downgrade my love to like for Laundry Land. Now I know how they work, so lesson learned, and buyer beware. I hope my office doesn’t mind my TV pants.

I appreciate the response from the owner but it’s clear that he doesn’t appreciate business from customers who choose to do their own laundry. This should become a drop-​off service only laundromat. The folding tables are monopolized by the staff or recently completed laundry, the folding table that is closest to a row of dryers is reserved for employees and not customers and washers and dryers are often in short supply because the employees are using them do do drop-​off laundry. After nearly eight years of patronizing this business, I find it unfortunate that I am forced to find another laundromat that caters to all of its customers.

I’ve been going to this laundromat for many years– it used to be a pretty decent place to do your own laundry. And as noted below, there have been some much needed improvements in terms of on-​site attendants, TV, etc. But there is a HUGE difference between reviews for those dropping off and those doing on site. Seeing reviews from as far away as LIC, I now realize why doing my laundry here has become a complete pain in the ass. The attendants (who are, in their defense, very friendly) take up EVERY LARGE MACHINE AND DRYER in the back of the store. There are so many laundry bags piled up waiting for pick up you can’t even push a cart past the desk.
I have lots of items I don’t want to run all the way through the dryer (things that will shrink) so drop off doesn’t make sense for me. But if all the triple loaders are taken up, it costs quite a bit more money to split into smaller machines. I’ve come home many times with damp towels because there weren’t enough dryers, I had to cram too much into one just to avoid waiting 40 minutes, and there’s a line waiting when your time is up. I just left there, and the attendants were using at least 16 machines and all but ONE of the wire carts, which meant even though only 2 people were doing laundry themselves, I couldn’t unload my dryer because there was no cart! If the management could work on the flow of traffic (how about putting some big-​load machines toward the front of the store, and limiting how many machines/​tables staff can use at one time) and not pushing DIY customers out, things could improve dramatically.

Great service! I do the pickup/​delivery option (IN LIC!) and they are always on time and easy to schedule. I love Laundry Land and would recommend it to anyone. There is no other service like it, ESPECIALLY in Long Island City.

Really love this place for drop off service! I almost want to keep it my secret, but I want to give props to them too. Their rates are very reasonable (the best part), they offer free pick-​up/​delivery and if you are picking it up yourself, your laundry is pretty much ready same day. You also have the choice of Tide or Mrs. Meyer’s detergent ($ 0.50 more).

As much as I would love to keep this little gem a secret, I feel like it definitely deserves some recognition. I have used them 4 times up to this point & I have zero complaints.
I call to request a pickup & they arrive in 15 – 20 minutes. The pick-​up/​delivery men are friendly & helpful. Within 4 hours, I receive a phone call asking when I would like my folded laundry delivered. No stress, no time & a giant laundry bag costs $ 15. Can’t complain.

$.65/​lb drop-​off service that can’t be beat.

WOAH! didn’t realize there is a Laundry Land predecessor somewhere out there… but now it all makes sense! This place has a seamless, hehe, operation. NO PUN INTENDED! but yes, it is NOT ONLY the closest laundry in my hood (besides crossing death BLVD…), it is the best. The gals in there are always amiable and are reassuring when directing me to throw my nice button downs in the laundry with my drawers.
Only the real nice shit goes up to natural organic cleaners for a nice press and such, Laundry Land is also very clean, thanks to a nephew or cousin armed with a dustpan, broom and an awesome eye for lint in the strangest places.
they even gave me a brand new logo laundry bag when my BIG D shit went to shit because it was shit. Fuck Big D laundry bags.
they are also the cheapest @ $.65 a LB. Great even if it always come out to a bit more for some reason… don’t get that, but don’t care! I got clean laundry and don’t have to sit and grieve over lost relationships as I watch the wife beaters she bought for me churn and churn in front of me… like my heart…

This place is fine if you don’t mind having your quarters eaten by the machines and 80% of the time having to break $ 20 bills yourself by buying something around the corner. Both washers and dryers constantly screw up – eating quarters, washing with no water, etc. I went here for 6 years and it happened a lot. I was only able to track the owner down for a few refunds, which was my fault. I didn’t have the time to constantly hunt him down. The only way to do it is leave a note and wait for him to call. There is no answering machine, he has no business email, no emergency # listed. The attendant is a very nice woman, but she only works a few days a week and when she’s there, she may be a witness to the machines screwing up, but she isn’t allowed to give refunds! The jackass of an owner must not trust her, which is ridiculous. She works there! That is one of the main reasons a laundromat would have an attendant, isn’t it?
It was never a big enough problem for me to quit coming until this last time, I had to fight for what turned out to be half of a refund. He couldn’t find anything wrong with the 2 dryers that refused to work after I put quarters in each and so refused my refund. I wrote him a letter that expressed my discontent and he re-​checked the machines and found something wrong with one. Since he couldn’t find anything wrong with his other crappy old dryer, he claimed I probably forgot to put quarters in or didn’t push the button, hence half of my refund.
One of my favorite parts of our phone conversation was him saying something to the effect of ‘If I gave refunds to everyone who called and said the machines ate their money, do you know how much money I would be giving away?’ Umm, dude, your machines suck and eat people’s money.
Come on! Is this a real business? Last night I did laundry around the corner on Meserole – it was cheaper, faster, and the owners were there working and breaking twenties for customers the whole time.

This is my go-​to laundromat. I’ve tried the others in the area and found them super crowded.
The machines here are on the newer side and they work just fine. It’s clean and usually empty with plenty of room to fold clean clothes.
The recently raised prices but then again, what place hasn’t recently.
They also close late allowing me time to come after work.
