Kurent Events is New York’s premium chef driven caterer. Founded in 2009, Kurent Events offers both food and beverage service whether a corporate event, gallery opening, wedding or intimate tasting dinner. Based in Brooklyn’s Bedford-​Stuyvesant neighborhood, Kurent Events operates from its newly built, custom catering kitchen and event space. Kurent Events stands alone in its approach to catering. By using a diverse range of NYC’s best chefs, Kurent Events is able to pair chefs and clients based on both menu and event format. Under the direction of executive chef Johnathon Garvey, who recently headed up Australia’s most in demand première caterer, Kurent Events offers ingredient driven and approachable cuisine.

Business Owner

Britt Kurent started Kurent Events as a boutique catering company in 2009. In fall 2012 she opened a full-​service events and commercial catering space, complete with a private dining room available for rentals (bed​stuyk​itchen​.com) and test kitchen in Bedford-​Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Britt attended The Institute of Culinary Education, graduating with diplomas in both culinary arts and culinary management. Next, Britt worked at Gramercy Tavern as a cook in both the savory and pastry kitchens. There, she met many of the talented chefs that make up her catering roster, which is one of the most diverse in New York. Britt grew up in Washington, DC and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Communications. Before heading back east to pursue a career in hospitality, she spent several years in sales, marketing and management at a high-​end clothing company in Los Angeles.
