Before they«renovated» the place, it was my favorite bar in the area. Why why why. This place really had a cool atmosphere of a European soccer pub and they torn everything down and made it into a cafeteria. Huge disappointment. It was a great place to have a few beers. Now it’s just another ugly looking Brighton beach dining room with food and service below average.

Loved the food and the service. Service was slow, but that’s because they are so attentive and thorough. We are not Russian and the server gave great recs for beer. She was just lovely. The food was excellent(and although I am not really Russian my dad was a Russian Jew, so I kind of know). This was a lovely experience and we will be back.

I was here last night, they changed their look and I really enjoyed it. I got a great vibe and the staff was really nice. They told me that they are restructuring their menu and updating their dishes — Looking forward to coming back!

beyond the service which was super slow and difficult to get the attention of the waitress, despite it being pretty empty, there were a couple redeeming features– The food was ok. Typical bar food in a lot of ways, but one person did get a set of dips that came with warm, fresh bread. The hummus was super good. the eggplant dip was really good. Tasty choice. Another person got what we thought was going to be cheese bread, but came out like more of a cheese pizza without sauce. SUPER cheesey and would be good if you had had a few too many beers, but since it was so difficult to get her attention, we only had a couple. They have a pretty big selection, but don’t ask for suggestions– we just did a lot of pointing at the menu and hoped what came out was what we had asked for.

Large selection of draft and bottled beers. Convenient location by the subway stop and 2 – 3 minutes walking distance from ocean. I’d recommend this place for watching sports events. They have many specials too during the week. I caught a little attitude from one bartender once or twice but this is the only drawback I’ve notice at this place. 7 – 8 $ for a glass of beer is OK taking into account the style and interior and the number of broadcasting channels.

I told the waitress the beer was flat and I wanted something else. She told me it’s impossible that the beer is flat. They proceeded to Charge for it anyways. I took it off the tip the waitress that argued with me for a while. This place sucks and they don’t know how to run a business. I would never come back here again.

My friend happens to live a few blocks away and we come here pretty often. This place is nothing crazy or fancy inside. The food is pretty good. Really good grilled salmon and burgers with fries. Service is excellent. The staff is really friendly and sweet. Nice little cozy bar to grab a beer and catch up. Not sure what the guy’s name is but he’s by far one of the nicest waiters I’ve ever meet. Really funny and welcoming.

This place served Blue Moon as Hofbräu HB. That’s all that needs to be said. The recent renovation is terrible.

Food is ok. Beer selection is great. Service isn’t good. I recommend the fried pelmeni and the burger with garlic fries.

The garlic fries were really tasty and crunchy. Good draft beer selection. Plus the waitress let me taste the beer before I ordered, since I wanted to try something new. Would definitely come here again.

I had 3 unauthorized charges on my card the same day after the waitress walked away with it to charge me. The last time the card left my sight was over a week ago. Happy hour beer was cheep and good, pickled veggies was good, and the savory potato pizza thing was great. Other than the my suspicion that someone copied my card, the waitress was nice.

Burger with garlic dill fries… Yuuuuuum that’s all I have to say. This spot is two thumbs up and their draft beer to go with the burger and fries hits the spot. Oh yea and their lamb kebabs are juicy

The worst ever. Just waited to pay my bill while a manager maybe owner was screaming at the bartender for serving a drink to a drunk. When I told him that im not happy he said that I dont have to come back. What a service!!! And the food has no taste. The good chef was fired. No more pilaf.

Visited on Superbowl Sunday, as the weather sucked and my friends and I were to lazy to venture out of our neighborhood. This bar has a nice décor and a good selection of beer. Food: They serve a variety of food including burgers and russian food. It being superbowl sunday(and a bar), I ordered a cheeseburger with mushrooms and onions on it, unfortunately it was not good. The meat tasted a bit strange to me. The side of fries was way too over fried and oily. Also got the garlic croutons russian style, which were very good but extremely overpriced. Other russian bars in the rea charge half the price. Beer: Beer was good, they also have few beer specials. Ambiance: There was only a few tables, even though it was super bowl and they hd 10 dollar pitchers of beer! I honestly think that people don’t like coming there because of the atmosphere. The waitress was extremely rude and had attitude.(and it is not a cultural shock, I am russian and know how russian people act). The other waiters stood around, pushed each other around and acted like a hot mess. There were also waiters that stared, sat around tables and ate. It was not comfortable atmosphere at all, and I am russian. I can only imagine what the non russians felt like. There was however a man waiter/cook im not sure, that brought out our food which was very nice and sweet. However, the younger staff must go. I don’t think I will be back.

Quite empty for a late July afternoon, with the dinner hour fast approaching. A few patrons at the bar sat, drank and cheered for their respective soccer team. With the World Cup ’14 now two weeks in the books, in enthic communities, the soccer ball rolls on. We ordered five Kebob plates including chicken liver, lamb, lulya, steak and veal. Add to the order some pickled vegetables including green tomatoes, red cabbage and pickles with a half order of bread. A meal that probably is deep rooted in history, possibly hundreds of years old is still satisfyingly customers today in the heart of Brighton Beach. To wash down this Western European classic combo of meat and pickled vegetables, I had two Carlsberg’s on tap and a wonderfully refreshing Pear Cider, perfect for a hot summer afternoon.
