The worst place to buy a living plant in Brooklyn or anywhere on Earth. Biggest Rip Off.

I just worked with jungle design for the first time this season on a big project. I couldn’t be more happy with my experience! Amanda is pro. She realizes my vision for my 2,000 sq ft roof top on a 22 story building. Anyone who’s tried this, NOT an easy task.
There work to date has been a joy after many failed landscapers. We have more bigger builds in the works and I can’t wait!

We stopped by here on Saturday afternoon when we were just taking a walk around the area. This place caught our eyes first when were looking for a parking space nearby. We decided to check this place out after we found a space. The place is pretty cool to look at but the plants selection isn’t that big. We love the old fashioned chandelier inside.

I rode by this place on my bike and thought it looked amazing from the street. I worked in landscaping for 3 years and currently work in a garden center myself (also in Williamsburg). I love plants. This place is ridiculous. $ 300 for a fiddle leaf ficus that is dried out and dropping leaves, the same vendors plants that I sell but she’s selling them for almost double the price, and the owner was on her phone the entire time I was there looking around. I was the only person there and she never made an attempt to offer any assistance until I was leaving.
The space is amazing, it is a shame to see it filled with neglected plants and run by someone who claims it to be «the best garden center in Williamsburg». I understand prices in NY aren’t going to be cheap, but come on. At least clean up the plants and make them presentable.

Looks like a jungle. Fun to stroll through in WB. The coffee hut near the door is not the greatest.

Was just (5:15, Sunday ¹⁰⁄₂₀) completely ignored by the woman working here. She was busy chatting away and searching for something online with another customer. I understand that she was busy, but when in a situation like this in retail, one should say «I’ll be with you guys in a minute!», or «Is there something I can answer quickly?». It was so obvious that even the other customer was darting glances our way that sort of said «Has she really not seen those guys standing there for 10 minutes?». We were ready to buy at least two pots and a plant, but we just left. What a fool.

Popped in on a whim. Beautiful space. Had a great end-​of-​summer sale on perennials. Got two strong, 12″ night-​blooming jasmine for $ 3 each. Some of their large/​mature plants can be on the expensive side, but that’s to be expected in the priciest neighborhood in North Brooklyn. Salespeople were super friendly and enthusiastic, girl at the register even said she wanted to buy the last jasmine plant for herself before it was gone.

Low quality plants, extraordinarily high prices, and rock bottom customer service.
I bought two outdoor grass plants here on a Saturday and by Wednesday, they were both dead. I did water them, and it actually rained twice. However, despite the advice I received from the owner that these plants would do well in direct sun light, they died in three days. These things happen, so I took the plants back to see if I could get a credit or refund. The plants are incredibly overpriced — two medium grass plants for $ 33. Shame on me for spending that much to begin with but based on the owners advice, I went ahead.
The guy at the store when I brought them back immediately said, «I don’t know what you want me to do about it. You are not going to get any money back.» He suggested that he has worked with plants for so many years and this just doesn’t happen unless by fault of the plant owner. I stated that I watered them twice — and he said, «Sorry, dude, doesn’t look like you did. These plants are dried out.» I explained yes, they were dried out, and incredibly surprising to me that they could dry out so fast unless they were in less than good condition when I bought them.
Very confrontational. I understand now why they have such low business. Almost no customer service and an incredibly negative attitude in resolving issues. If Amanda wants to increase business, she should consider firing that guy and implementing some policies that are in favor of the customer that might likely come back time and time again. Wouldn’t you want to make a customer happy and have them return and spend more money that not lose the profit you made on two plants. I am certain the grass plants are not a big cost for the store. As it is now, I would never walk into this place again — and given that there are rarely customers in the lot/​store, others feel the same. If I could give below a 1-​star, I would have made that selection.

Alright, I understand stores in prime locations can be a bit more expensive. I also fully understand paying extra for unique pieces. But this place is so ridiculously overpriced that I cannot possibly give them more stars. I’ve been to dozens of garden and nursery stores all over Brooklyn this spring, as I finally got around to properly furnishing my rooftop. Out of all of them, Jungle is by far the most expensive. Some of the plants can be purchased for half price IN the Williamsburg area. The markup is so high it actually borders on offensive.
It’s a cool space and nice to visit for inspiration, for sure. There are also a few unique pieces that are worth the steep prices — I saw a few beautiful pots and a cool chunk of amber that were worth the cost. But give me a break, guys. You make Sprout look cheap.

Super cool plant store, though simply calling it a house of Viridiplantae would be a sort of huge understatement. It’s more like a little art gallery with sculptures, and other curiousities, and for anyone looking for a little break in their random day, this is the perfect spot!
The only thing I would add is a coffee kiosk. Seriously!

I spent thousands of dollars for them to design and install potted plants for my rooftop terrace. From the very beginning I said numerous times that the area was very windy and they needed to give me plants and pots that could withstand the wind. I said it many times by email and verbally. They assured me that they knew what they were doing. They said they had a lot of experience with windy rooftops. And at the time of the installation, I asked the owner, Amanda Mitchell for a guarantee that if the plants and/​or pots were damaged due to the wind they would replace it. In front of 3 other employees she said that they would. To me that was a verbal contract.
Among the many pots and plants I bought, (and by the way, they all looked great) they gave me two tall (6ft.) Juniper bushes in pedestal pots. Sure enough,
sometime during the winter, both plants and pots were blown over. The pots shattered and the plants died. Based on our agreement, I asked Amanda, the owner to replace them and she refused. In all honesty, she finally relented and offered 2 ugly pots that didn’t fit the design they had created for my space. And outright refused to replace the plants. I said that was not acceptable. She said take it or leave it.
Never mind that they are extremely over priced, never mind that they were hours late for every appointment. What you should all know before doing business with them is they made a huge mistake and claimed no responsibility. A verbal agreement is still an agreement. I am now out approximately $ 900 bucks.
Reviews for Jungle

It is almost impossible to walk past Jungle and not take a peak at its garden. Because of the large space they have, they are able to showcase some pretty cool stuff, from a super artsy and modern hot tub to cute yet very intriguing terrariums to a chandelier-​like art piece.
The hot tub is very appealing because it is bright orange and kind of shaped like a tea cup. Their website states that you can rent it for a party of up to 12 or a romantic occasion for two.

Love this place! Diverse, beautiful selection of plants and accessories. They can be a bit pricy, as you might expect, but unlike other plant stores in the neighborhood they actually have a good range of prices. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, which is a boon. I have spent literally 40 minutes in other similar stores (cough, Sprout) without being addressed by a single employee. That’s not a problem here – the employees greet you and are highly knowledgeable.
