Joy Kitchen is… Brooklyn Chinese Food. The«Let me get one chicken wing with everything on it» type of spot. Not fancy at all. Are you gonna get what Chinese people really eat? Probably not. But how they do their thing is how people from brooklyn like their food. It’s good. When I eat out of town Chinese food i miss joy kitchen.

First off, I’m actually a New Yorker — so I automatically qualify to write this review because the restaurant in review serves New York Chinese food. SECOND, I find the picture someone posted in regards to this place humorous(as a New Yorker); but, if I were the business owner I’d be offended, not to mention the food isn’t bad. Anyway, Joy Kitchen is as gritty as it gets but I’m used to it(see aforementioned New Yorkness). I got the General Tso chicken(asked for white meat as well and they happily obliged), all New Yorkers know if the General Tso sucks, his troops(i.e. the rest of the menu) will suck as well. I was pleasantly surprised at the excellence of this simple dish. The sweet and sour sauce was well balanced and the chicken morsels were of good proportion(not fat mutated chicken in some Chinese restaurants). All in all I didn’t come here to be pampered with table service or décor, I came here because I was hungry and they did a good job satisfying that.

They are always VERYNICE and most of the time my delivery order is at my door before I have hung up the phone. Or, so it seems. The food is always hot and delicious and you can’t beat the value. Good portions at an excellent price.

Your average bad Chinese«Restaurant» with mediocre food. I would give it two stars, but because of the act that I TWICE found hair in my food, I give it ONE star. I know, I should have never tried them after the FIRST time I found hair in the food but I did. Stupid me. The food is pretty horrible and they are a bit more expensive than others in the same area. I don’t know why. Dirty looking place, hair in the food and I don’t think you can find worse.

Rating ONLY for one dish. This place looks very sketchy, but my mom always says if you don’t see it, it can’t hurt you. That being said the ONLY thing I order from this restaurant, which they do really well is Hunan Style Shrimp. I always ask them to put the veggies in last so they are crispy. HATE soggy vegetables. So beware if you order anything else, you won’t die(I think) but at least you’ve been warned.

this place makes me feel ill every time i order from them, i used to like chinese food but now i feel like this place has soured me to the whole style of food. i have a friend who visits me sometimes and thinks they are amazing but i think she is crazy. all i know is whenever i eat food from here, i get pain in my stomach and head and feel puffy for days. im a vegetarian, and i dont eat a lot in one sitting, there is no reason for anything to leave me feeling gross like that.

This place redefines down and dirty Chinese food, if I had no legs I would crawl past it to find a better place to eat.

Edible take-out food on Nostrand Ave. They have all the basic Chinese, plus some other items like french fries etc. Basically this place is safe to order from(in other words, you won’t get sick), but if you can find somewhere else to get your Kung Pao, I’d suggest passing this one by.
