I left my ophthalmologist of almost 20 years for Dr. Fleishman’s Brooklyn office, due to location. This was a mistake. Although I found the doctor to be thorough, spending a good amount of time diagnosing and discussing care, her support staff was beyond difficult. Unnecessarily so. You may want to consider another doctor, not because of her, she seems quite capable, but because of her staff. If dealing with a rude and disrespectful support staff is half or more of your medical experience with Dr. Fleishman and her office, then frankly, it’s just not worth it. Lets face it, you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. I will definitely be returning to Dr. Maria Arnett in Manhattan, she’s phenomenal (and so is her staff).

Think twice about seeing this ophthalmologist. The office staff is extremely rude and the doctor is condescending and disrespectful. I would be more okay with these attributes if the doctor at least did their job properly. Despite zocdoc appointment times, she won’t see you until much later, even if you are having a serious eye condition. She seems to focus more on lasik and her skills in other areas of the specialty seem to be lacking. Avoid!

I had an eye infection 12 hours before I went on a road trip. When I called the office in the late afternoon — as a new patient — I was able to come in immediately and see Dr. Fleishman. Her diagnosis was right on. My eye problems cleared up within 2 days and I was able to drive for long hours without any discomfort. Thank you Dr. Fleishman for your concerns and care !

Well it’s been a journey with this office and doctor. I came here first for an eye problem that was misdiagnosed by another doctor and was pretty happy with the service and problem cleared up fine and I did lasik here later. There are definitely pros and cons, just like any other doctor. Pros — I think she was pretty thorough with diagnosing my eye problem and addressing complications, I think the lasik was done competently, she was pretty cool about the pricing of the procedure, she’ll answer all your questions and has a decent attitude, and I think her office has a nice vibe overall, definitely brand conscious which I do appreciate. Cons — wait times are usually really long, I had a really annoying experience with one of the support staff when I was trying to get assistance on some paperwork after the surgery where she said she’d fax me a form for days and never did (the doctor apologized about it later, but didn’t really acknowledge this person’s bad attitude to me), the sheet with after surgery care instructions had some inaccurate information on it.

Yes, the office is new and spotless, they have lots of fancy equipment, and the support staff is nice, but I will never come here again.
Here is why:
–The wait time is ridiculous. I was there for almost three hours for to get an updated prescriptions for my glasses.
–The support staff person who tested the pressure in my eyeball could not get the machine to work, and her hand shook the whole time. The eye tests performed by other support staff were not much better, as no one seemed to understand how to use the machines. I am not sure if anyone there besides Dr. Fleishman had any sort of medical or technical training. They were all nice, but when dealing with things touching or shining bright lights in my eyes, I would rather have professional and skilled than nice.
–I told Dr. Fleishman that I was there for an updated prescription for glasses. When I finally saw her, after two hours of waiting and testing, she rushed through my eye exam, saying, «Perfect!» even though I still couldn’t read all of the letters on the screen.
–I soon found out why she rushed — after the exam she told me she thought laser eye surgery was my best option. I had specifically told her I was there for glasses, I had never mentioned surgery, and when I told her it was NOT an option for me she seemed taken aback, kept pushing until I made it clear that I was not going to get surgery.
–At the end of the appointment you can pay for the prescription and take it with you to have glasses made. I left without it, as I have zero confidence that it is accurate. I’ll be going someplace else to have my eye exam done all over again.

My experience with Dr. Jessica Fleishman treating me for cataracts in her Albany, NY office has been AWFUL. Since Jan 2012, she has performed three (3) cataract related surgeries on me using premium Intra Ocular Lens (IOL). One surgery left me without sight for nearly 36 hours until she performed an emergency lens exchange with another premium IOL implant brand. During the post cataract surgery follow up visit, she immediately knew the reason for my lack of sight and began ranting that it was the fault of the Regional Eye Surgery Center OR technician and NOT her fault.
Dr. Fleishman performed a second surgery to restore sight to my left eye with a premium lens of her choice. She knowingly used a premium replacement lens that she implanted «off label». This second surgery with a new premium IOL implant left me with visual impairments including blurry vision and ghosting of images for one entire year due to the lens she implanted being de-​centered. During this one year wait period to see if my eye sight would «settle», I lived with daily fear that my eyesight would never return to normal and that I would have blurry ghosting vision coupled with severe star bursts in my right eye for the rest of my life. I spent many exhausting hours performing on-​line research, discussions with IOL manufacturers, loss time and money on multiple different doctor visits all in search of corrective action. During numerous conversations and visits to Dr. Fleishman, she was adamant that the surgery error was the OR technician’s fault and that I should pursue the Regional Eye Surgery Center for compensation even though she was the surgeon. Finally, after a year I went out of the area to have a competent surgeon correct Dr. Fleishman’s two surgeries to my left eye. Prior to the third surgery to the left eye by this new surgeon and just prior to Dr. Fleishman telling me she was off to Europe, she agreed to compensate me for my out of pocket money expenses spent to correct the visual distortions to my left eye. This turned out to be a LIE. She handed off my letter to her malpractice insurer. Ten months later Dr. Fleishman’s malpractice insurer denied my claim. When asked why, I was verbally told that their paid «medical expert» said that my surgical outcome visual distortions were consistent outcomes with these premium lenses! To date Dr. Fleishman has reneged on her word that she would compensate me for my out of pocket expenses to have my left eye sight corrected. I am out the $ 2,000 out of pocket premium lens cost which she recommended and implanted because it had to be removed and replaced with a standard lens to correct my left eyesight. Unfortunately, I still have severe night time star bursts in my right eye after Dr. Fleishman implanted a premium lens costing me $ 2,000 out of pocket in 2012. I find it very disheartening and disturbing that any person especially a Doctor does not take responsibility for a mishap under his or her care.
I hope you find this review helpful and that you spend sufficient time reviewing any doctor who you are contemplating to use for cataract surgery. Ask questions and research as much as you can about IOLs if your eye professional /​surgeon promotes premium IOLs instead of standard IOLs. Ask the surgeon if he or she had complaints from patients with premium IOLs and how were they resolved.

I couldn’t be more happy. I moved to Brooklyn 2 months ago and suddenly had an eye-​mergency this week when I got an eye infection that wouldn’t go away despite two trips to urgent care. In a panic I chose the nearest eye doctor on Unilocal.
I quickly made an appointment through Zoc Doc for that same morning and headed over. I will say that I had a long wait (30 minutes from when I walked in, admittedly 10 minutes prior to my appointment start time) but I’m pretty used to that with doctors and I brought a book.
When I got in to see the doctor I realized why I had waited so long. Dr. Fleishman takes her time, listens to all concerns, answers all questions, and covers all her bases. It was nice not to be rushed out by a doctor who clearly was only interested in taking as many people as possible in a day. Within a few hours of leaving my eye felt 10 times better and I knew I had my new eye doctor in Brooklyn. Thanks to Dr. Fleishman and her staff! You guys were my saviors this week!

I lost my glasses right before a business trip out of town so I came here hoping they could do a quick eye exam and I could at least be having someone make glasses while I was away.
I’m not sure what to say about Dr. Fleishman’s office other than I think she’s under a lot of pressure to make this new office turn a profit. By time I left, I had been given a pitch for Lasik, told I might have a cateract (I’m 33), and a request for me to come back for additional tests because her $ 150,000 machine detected some abnormalities in my eyes that are precursors to glaucoma.
I also left being told that other optometrists had gotten me in the habit of wearing too strong of a prescription.
I went back to SUNY Optometry where I normally go. While they agree there are some abnormalities in the optical nerve, the other tests are not at all indicative of glaucoma. Did the two doctors agree in their initial findings for some oddities? Yes. However. Dr. Fleishman delivers it with a side of scare tactics and attempts to increase her revenue stream.
I really wanted to like this place but I think we all deserve what’s best for our own health and not what will help pay for what is probably a very expensive office

Dr. Fleishman is the best — friendly, calm, takes care of all your concerns. I will visit again and again. Amazing office!
