In Home Pet Services of Clinton Hill

After 2 years with these guys, I should be writing a 1 star follow up, to an intial 4 star’er. But, instead, I bring you the messed up story of how not to handle clients during a crisis.
We were using Mabel since we moved home at the end of ’08. She’s goofy, but reliable. She handled our confusing instructions just as carefully as she cared for our creaky but awesome old cats. I’ve referred her without hesitation countless times, even posted a review for her on Brooklynian.
We booked her for the July 4^th weekend and started the trip as planned. Saturday morning I wake up to an email from Andrea, the owner of INPS saying «Hey, we changed our phone number. Mabel is no longer working with us, but here’s $ 1 off for our loyal customers!»
Wait, what?!
In the middle of a long holiday weekend, we get a form letter from someone we’ve never spoken to before letting us know that the person we’ve trusted for two years is no longer working with us? Did that mean that someone else was going to be coming into our home & taking care of our old cats? Someone we had never met before, someone the cats had never met before? Who knows?!
After the wife & I exchanged «WTF» glances, I called and left a message. It took Andrea more than six hours to return my call. I txt’d Mabel and she called me back IMMEDIATELY. When she finally returned my call, she seemed more interested in retaining the business than letting me know what the story was.
This isn’t retaliation for bad service at a diner. We’re talking about our two older cats & all of the possessions in my home. On their homepage, Andrea has a lot of positive reviews and I’m sure this wasn’t an easy decision to make. If INPS felt they had reason to fire Mabel, that’s their business. But, I also don’t think I’m being unreasonable when I say this is the opposite of how you’re supposed to handle a situation like this.

I own an American Pitbull and his name is Popeye. Whenever I go on vacation I always ask Mabel C. to help me watch my dog. Popeye loves her and listens to her as well. She’s great with him and he listens to her more than he does to me. She’s trustworthy and very reliable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs a dog sitter. Letting her take care of you dog while you are on vacation is better than leaving it in a kennel where he/​she can catch a kennel cough. Curing the kennel cough with a Veterinarian can run you up to a couple of hundred dollars and your dog goes through pain & suffering. I highly recommend you use Mabel because she is really good with dogs.
