Great café with very cool décor. We were there 30 min before closing and they weren’t making decaf coffee drinks so I was bummed but tea was good instead. Chocolate chip walnut cookie was generous but a bit stale at the end of the day. Maybe too dry all around.

If you’re looking for Stumptown coffee, this is a solid coffee shop that has it. However, limited seating, pretty standard/limited food and slightly more expensive coffee than other similar quality shops nearby make Hungry Ghost skippable.

Cozy little café with ample wooden bench seating outside. Their Stumptown coffee is very good and their super rich choc chip and peanut butter cookies are the bomb! Even had beer and wine here on a rainy Saturday night(only $ 13 for both). Cashier/baristas are very friendly.

Lovely coffee shop with cozy interior. Delicious looking pastries, good coffee, and sufficient seating. Minus one star because their sandwiches aren’t made in house, yet they take a bit too long to prepare(reheat). That said, it’s a lovely spot to sit and chat with a friend, read a book, or do some work(though no wifi).

Awesome go-to café. I stop by certain mornings to get my casual latte, the employees are also VERY friendly!

Good coffee, but some of the staff can be unfriendly, which is kind of a downer. Convenient location, not enough seating, not child friendly — whether that’s a plus or minus for you, people do bring kids anyway.

I have to say I’m surprised by some of the negative reviews. It’s a cute small coffee shop/café that serves great coffee, good food, beer & wine. The service was fine. The prices I thought were reasonable and in line with other places of it’s kind. Very clean, quiet relaxing atmosphere. The coffee was just how I like it strong & rich. I have nothing but good things to say.

Lame place serving lame, lukewarm coffee(and Stumptown is about a craft made as fucking Starbucks at this point. Peets Coffee owns them), lame barristas can’t be bothered to listen well enough to make an order correct. Total waste of time and money.

Hungry Ghost is like that really hot dude you wanna date and he knows it so he treats you like shizz bc he knows he’s gonna get other bishes. This Hungry Ghost is gorgeous. Beautiful floors, sun floating into the space like you’re gonna meet your next lover and spend a lifetime of lazy afternoons together. But on the inside, Hungry Ghost is mean! And only cares about himself! I mean er… itself. What was I talking about? Anyway, a barista helped me today and he was SOCOOL! Ya know, that high school«cool» where«you’re so over your job, hate your life, but only can crack an ironic smile for your friends and discuss what playlist you wanna put on next» kinda thing. I’ve been here a couple times, and the service is always lukewarm verging on rude. This last time was really a bummer. Despite the beauty of aforementioned sun radiating within the space, the employees will make sure that warm feeling disappears once you interact with them. I asked if the place had WiFi and 2 hipster bros(I know. Who knew they could exist?) Responded dryly, «No WiFi. Like ever» and gave me a reproachful look that screamed, «Wtf are you talking about, idiot?» And one dude taking my order lost patience when I couldn’t decide on what pastry to get and asked him what was what. Huge sighs. All that fun high school stuff.(There was no one else in here, dude!) Side note: I feel like there’s a whole new movement in the service industry where«being over it» is the norm – and believe me, I’ve been there, on the other side of it as the dude– but now that I’m on the receiving end, it’s not cool. Really sours a potentially cool human interaction. Oh my God. Is this MY open apology letter to former customers? Could be. But in the meantime, consider this my Open Never Returning to this Place letter to the employees of Hungry Ghost – unless I want to be in a coffee shop that’s attractive but has no substance… um. Yeah? (Just trying to tie it back all together with the bad bf analogy. Bear with me…) PS there is ONE angel baby barista who showed up AFTER my surly Batista served me. He has blue hair and said hello to everyone upon entrances. He’s like a water filled cactus in place that’s a desert when it comes to kindness. 1 extra star for him alone. (You like my analogies?)

:Stopped in here on a Whim, and ordered a Café Au lait. So beautifully made by the barrista there… The Place is a quaint little NY coffee shop/internet café. Very typical of any other Artsy New York café… but i was really impressed with the friendly atmosphere. The architecture of the building is quite the eye catcher if you can picture horse drawn carriages, and cobblestone streets back in its hay day… The history is all around you and if you close your eyes for just a short moment, it feels like you’re back to the Era of the 1800s. Its just a Very Special Area of Brooklyn… As New Yorkers, We all forget to stop and breathe in the beauty and history of our great city… moving so fast all the time that we feel if we stopped, we might miss something. When in truth you are missing everything…

Good place to grab a coffee but I actually really like the atmosphere for sitting and getting some work done. Love their coffee and espresso drinks(I usually grab a Café Au Lait). We had the bacon and gouda last time I was there and it was SO good — like surprisingly good. The bacon was delicious, the gouda was perfect, and they had some mayo-saucy-something slathered on the bread and man, oh man… yum. Plus, it came with a pickle that was really delicious. The also have Dough doughnuts(Hibiscus doughnut, I’m forever eyeing you). No Wi-Fi, which sucks. But I have gone here to work on some illustration projects, both hand drawn stuff and digital/computer stuff. I’ve seen plenty of people work on their computers as well — so I don’t know that they have a strict«No Computer» policy? Maybe they just discourage it passively by not providing Wi-Fi, which I think is totally fine since I went there knowing that. Shrug. Doesn’t bug me and, when I do need Wi-Fi, I go somewhere else.

Greedy Ghost is more like it. I had a horrible experience here on Sunday. $ 7.50 for an ice coffee and a cookie. The food and drink were very good. One star is for the crappy service: * very negative attitude from the clerk behind the counter; she never said how much I owed — she just took money and handed some money back; a $ 4 ice coffee filled to ¾ of the glass(if that much and mostly ice); no prices displayed on the cookies; the small sign describing the cookie was incorrect.

I love a good morning cup of coffee and decided to give this hungry ghost a try. Bad idea. This was honestly some of the worst coffee that I’ve had in a long time — completely over roasted and bitter. Undrinkable. It tasted like something that could have come from a bodega. 2 stars only because their location on Flatbush is decent.

I wish I could tell you about how excellent their cold brew/espresso/lattes are, but I don’t drink any of those things. What I do, is I eat cookies. When my friends dragged me in here for a coffee break, an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie caught my eye. I’m a grown-ass man that can eat a cookie if he wants to, so I bought it.* And it was good. It won’t change your life or anything, but if cookies are changing your life, you need to re-think everything that’s going on with you. _____________ *OK, I may have thrown a tantrum until someone else bought me the cookie.

I normally go to coffee shops to work. This is one of those«we don’t have wifi because we want you to just sit and enjoy each other’s company» coffee shops. Ugh, fine. I get it. But I want to do work. Pros: + As with all of the HG locations, it is beautifully designed and decorated. + In particular, the FLOORS could be stared at all day. You don’t even need to bring a friend here to chat with. You can just buy a drink and stare at the floor. It’s that beautiful. + Kombucha on tap. YAHHHHH + They have the super trendy cold brew with nitro. I don’t know why I’m listing this as a pro since I’ve never had it(anywhere), but I appreciate it for some reason. + Espresso is delicious. + Just STEPS away from the Lafayette station(C train) or the Fulton St. stop(B52 bus). How convenient. Cons: — NOWIFI :( — Lots of food and pastries – none of them vegan. — Staff is a little«too cool.» Some of them barely crack a smile. :( BUTDEMFLOORS! :)

Good cold brew, beautiful floors, awkward staff(but, hey, I’d gone through a 23-year old angst-ridden developmental stage too, so let me actively practice some compassion and understanding). Very little seating on a typical weekday afternoon.

Even though I can never find anything I alwa us take a look at their offerings to see if by ch acne anything will catch my eye. I think I’ll just stop looking because healthy guilt free fare is not their forte. Nothing but coffee/tea, pastrirs(cookies, doughnuts, etc which I am sure taste ok but no healthy options or nutritional info at all) and a few uninspiring cold sandwiches. I don’t know if I’m the only one that feels this way but the last few times I have been it’s been practically a ghost town *see what I did there*.

A cutesy meets industrial coffee shop with friendly baristas and a clean, big bathroom(bc we knows those are a rarity in NYC). The unique: Nitro It is their standard cold brew but infused with nitrogen to produce a foamy, rich almost slightly bubbly cold brew. It’s less acidic than the regular cold brew and definitely doesn’t need the addition of milk. It’s the Guinness of cold brews. I’m obsessed. Cold brew: not as impressed. It was standard, but not outstanding. It was a little too acidic and watery for my taste
