Stopped by this tore with my wife strolling down Atlantic Ave. with my wife we ran into another couple we know but haven’t seen in sometime. We began to talk nothing vulgar nothing outrageous just basically about our kids who are friends. There was no one else in the store, after about 10 minutes the sales person jumped out of his seat and said enough and threw us out of the store, he was rude and obnoxious. No one walked in we certainly were not disturbing anybody except I guess him, who was reading something. I will never ever walk into that store or any of its affiliated locations again. Nasty guy I’ll give my business elsewhere.

Atlantic Avenue’s best store for the dark, fancy man. Excellent selection of non-sexual leather. Billykirk!

This is a review of the Williamsburg store, which doesn’t seem to be represented on Unilocal yet. I finally stopped in here one day on the way home, after passing by several times but being kind of put off by the wide selection of Santa Maria Novella stuff so prominently on display(blucky). Turns out they have a nice, well-edited selection of clothing and accessories in a cool environment, even though their mirrors are so dark/distressed/hidden behind merchandise that you’re almost better off just going outside and looking at yourself in the window of the store itself. The stock is mostly«distressed» classics in dark hues and rich textures. It feels a little more nautical than Odin and a little less gothy than Oak. It’s actually maybe pitch perfect. The incredibly laid-back Japanese sales guy is a dead ringer for Other Music’s Scott Mou; it’s sort of scary. Once I got over it, he managed to sell me a pair of the same delicate Rachel Comey shoes he was wearing, and which he had essentially destroyed(«don’t ride your bike in them in the rain,» he smiled, but it looked more like he had been fighting a forest fire). In any case, I like my new shoes, and also the Rag & Bone scarf I came back for later on.

Really well edited collection. One of the best men’s boutiques I’ve encountered in NYC. The house brand more than holds it own w/exceptionally well-tailored garments and respectable prices.

I find this store very attractive to my female mind and makes me tick and fancy about men. I always think men’s wear have better colors and textiles, but something that I can not have. But for my better(?) halfs? I can buy them and maybe also steal some once in a while. Anyways, to cut to the point, this store is filled with pastel-ly muted washed out rugged stylish masculinity. The whole theme of the place exudes that vibe. Dark and woody. Musky and strong but in style. Clothes there are well made and good quality. Thick jeans, gorgeous sweaters, scarfs and bags. Lovely. LOL Clothings are a bit pricey — especially T-Shirts but since they carry up & coming and trendy men’s brands(more classic and old fashioned) so… understandable. They are also stocked with men’s accessaries from toilettries like cuban perfumes to rare little things that guys would love. I visit a lot there when I need to shop for men. One time, I bought this little antique mini book of one of Shakespeare’s plays as a gift($ 10) since the person loves to read. It was just perfect and he just loved it. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!~~~

Gorgeous shop! Hollander & Lexer’s windows brim with well-made wool, denim and canvas articles. The boutique’s strong attention to detail caught my eye immediately. Muted, classic colors are the order of the day. The clothing’s generally out of my price-range, but just about everything is hand-made in the upper 50. The prices were spot on for the craftsmanship. I’d been looking for a commute bag for months.(My current bag is blood-stained and torn from a spill I took in Hell’s Kitchen.) It’s genuinely difficult to find a bag that can withstand the elements and not look like a throw-away from some ill-advised mountain expedition. Luckily for me, Hollander carries a full line of Filson field bags. Even in the small size, Filson didn’t skimp on the details. Solid design, heavy canvas and leather keep my books protected from the elements!

Owned by the same dudes that own DARR(the antique store I recently reviewed that sits just across the street), Hollander & Lexer is a great menswear boutique. They carry brands like Billy Kirk, Engineered Garments, Filson, Jutta Neumann, Lincoln Mayne, Nicholas K, Rag & Bone, & Steven Alan. Basically stuff for the fancy dude. Check it out if you like this sort of stuff. Great place to get gifts too. They always have an assortment of accessories to choose from that are a little less harmful to the budget than the clothing.
