Hiho Batik

Have done several mid sized runs for my business. The quality is outstanding.
There is a bit of a slow turn around because of the batik process and the shirts are on the pricey side, but it’s nice to tell your patrons hand painted in Brooklyn!

Picked up a cute Georgia O’Keefe inspired purple dress for my niece here. The saleswoman was wonderfully helpful and described the process and the back room area quite nicely. You can find vibrant, unique pieces here that make for great gifts!

This is one of those gems you walk past in your neighborhood and miss because your too busy «rushing» to be nowhere. We walked by today and thanks to my wife, stepped inside to see what the inviting space was about.
We were greeted by a very friendly staff that not only helped us pick out something personalized for our oldest, but kept our little ones entertained. The place is very kid friendly with Eco-​friendly toys, crayons, and pads; as well as a wall for chalk!
They host parties in the back with a decent size space to do an adult get together or a kiddie family party. Overall, very happy to have experienced the store and welcome to have in park slope.

I came to Hiho Batik for an Elite event, where I got to design a cute pillow that now decorates my otherwise boring couch!
The ladies running the event were very nice and made sure we understood every step of the design process. The store provides many designs to trace onto your item (I did a pillowcase, I could’ve also made a shirt). Some of the designs were more geared towards children, so if I was to do this again, I would probably search for a cool design to print out and bring, since I can’t draw well. After you trace your design onto your item in hot wax, they give you multiple dyes to paint inside the design with. They then show you the several background colors you have to choose from, and take your information to let you know when they have completed the dyeing process so you can pick up your customized item.
There is also a large selection of items to choose from in the front of the store featuring different designs made using the batik process. I didn’t check the full inventory, but much of their stock is geared towards children. This makes sense, especially given their Park Slope location.
When I picked up my item I was very pleased with how it came out. I will have to take a picture of it to add to the Unilocal page.
I’d recommend checking out the store for yourself, especially if you are interested in having a group event there too. It’s an easy way to explore your creative side (without too much pressure, since designs are provided), and I think it worked well for a group of adults, but would be neat for a teen’s party as well.

I took a group of ladies here to make our own batik items as part of my 40^th birthday celebration. I wanted to do a craft activity and this seemed like just the right thing to do. The store is very nice and they have loads of extremely cute things — if you have children get ready to shell out some dough because the ready made clothing is close to irresistible. The thing is, make sure that you buy an item that is 4 sizes bigger than normal, because I sized up 2 sizes and the shirt I got for my daughter will fit her for another 5 minutes — but I totally think it is the cutest thing ever.
The make your own area is well organized and very accommodating. Julia and Patrick were very patient in helping us create our items. Most of us made scarves, and a few of us made t-​shirts. My friend who lives in the neighborhood will be picking the stuff up next week so I will let you know if they came out nice.
All in all this was a great experience. The staff was friendly and nice, the atmosphere was really conducive to being creative and we all had fun.
If you are looking for a cute baby gift — this is your spot!!!

Everyone here was so nice! They have premade items in the front for purchase, but if you’re feeling really creative then you can make a shirt or a bag yourself. All it takes is a little imagination, creativity and some patience. After you draw your design you trace it with a wax pen of sorts and then color in the empty spaces. The staff there then will take your item and put on the finishing touches. I can’t wait to see what mine will look like! Two thumbs up to this place!

I just had my 9 year old daughter’s birthday party at Hiho. It was amazing! The girls (and a few moms) had a blast creating one of a kind t-​shirts. It was a refreshing change from the same old party venues. We highly recommend.
