Thank you to Lou and the guys at Highway Bagels. They have been my «go to» place for party platters and the best bagels in Brooklyn for 20 years. Once again they made amazing platters for our post wedding family celebration of our son’s marriage. We ordered the kosher platter and the wrap platter and extra bagels. Everything was outstanding. Lou could not have been nicer and checked in with me the day before to make sure the order was correct and if we needed anything else. They delivered ahead of schedule which turned out to be a good thing. All of our guests loved the bagels and everything else. All the food was fresh and delicious.

The chicken salad sandwich was bad and to make matters worse they charged me 8.38 for the sandwich and a dollar extra for lettuce and tomato stay away it’s highway robbery

This place might have been good at one point but it’s terrible now. The only reason it’s still in business has to be because it’s open 24⁄7 and it’s the only place that sells bagels in a 10 block radius. It’s run by a bunch of lazy kids who don’t pay attention. If there’s more than 3 people inside it’s a disorganized mess. There is no order or line when you go to pay so it’s chaos and takes forever to pay and leave. On the food side of things, the bagels are awful. They are no better than dunkin donuts so they’re an embarrassment to the borough of Brooklyn. They have zero taste and zero bread weight. They’re like diet bagels or something. The muffins always taste old and the scones are always hard as rocks. The coffee is unbelievably weak and also just terrible. Really, any bodega on the same block has better coffee. Lastly, the breakfast sandwiches suck. They are clueless when it comes to making a decent baconeggandcheese if the lazy idiots behind the counter even remember to put bacon on it.

One last time, this is not a place to get grab. Bagels are great but the price action tops city prices. I got a bagel + turkey + lettuce/tomatoes = $ 7.81(forgot mayo). Why so much for Midwood Brooklyn???

It’s hilarious to see people give this place poor reviews for no seating, «racism», or bad service. Sorry everyone but this is a bagel place not a fancy café and you are in BROOKLYN Now for the food your, average Brooklyn bagels but always fresh. A great selection of different foods and it’s open 24⁄7! Lower your expectations and get yourself the bagel you deserve.

First of all, NOSEATING! I repeat: THERE’S NOSEATING. I get the feeling that some of the workers that work at the place are mildly racist because on two separate occasions, I’ve had a white or Jewish person serviced before me even though I was there before. Maybe I am mistaken and that’s my version of the events, but I’ll include that in my review nonetheless. Their bagels can be good depending on who makes them. One of the folks working there is nice and liberal with cream cheese, whilst another can’t toast the bagel properly. For those looking for a quick bite to go, this place is definitely recommended. They have a nice selection of cream cheeses and they more than occasionally make great bagels. However, if you’re planning to sit and eat, or be serviced well, STEERCLEAR.

Bagels are good if they are fresh. You should ask. If you get there before 7am they will try to give you the old bagels so make sure you check.

Stupidly gave this place a second chance because this place is so conveniently located for me but I really wish I hadn’t. The guy«cut» my bagel into 4 pieces and by cut I mean he only cut through the top piece the bottom piece of bread still attached. I had to use my hands to pry the bagel apart which meant the bagel fell apart and CREAMCHEESEWASEVERYWHERE. Time to look at other bagel places in the neighborhood. I wouldn’t even come here in the dead of the night, I’d rather starve. Apparently the high prices are because they consider themselves to be a gourmet bagel spot, what a joke. Edit: I FOUND A HAIRINMYBAGEL. DISGUSTING.

Always passed this place on my way to the gym. Finally tried it… Nothing really appeals to me except the PANINIs. A bit overpriced but LOVE their chicken with pesto panini. That’s the only reason they get a fourth star.

Literally the worst bagel spot. And it’s not even because of the quality of the bagels, which are decent, but the service makes me want to cut my eyes out with a spork. They have the ability to mess up every order i ever place. We called in an order for bagel lox tomato fried egg, they gave me a boiled egg from the salad bar. They also completely disregarded my gf’s scooped out bagel, and then had the balls to charge 24 $ for 2 bagels, 2 small coffees and a Gatorade. If I didn’t live a block away, I would NEVER go here. It has so much potential, but the people they hire are completely incompetent. I dumb down my orders just so that they don’t mess them up. If u don’t live a block away, stay away.

Bagels were undercooked. Pretty okay place. Glad that there’s a spot that is 24 hours if you’re lost somewhere on kings highway.

Can we say RIPOFF? I am new to the area. I asked for a buttered flagel with a few slices of ham. $ 7.00 later, I was shocked!!! So I asked why he was charging me so much for basically a flagel with butter and he said he had to charge me the price of a sandwich. First, he should have told me that before he charged me, and second, I paid over $ 5.00 for a few pieces of ham. First and last time! Bye-bye.

I work around that area and often as a last resort I come get lunch here. Everything is over priced. The guys that take your order never focus on what your saying. They never give you exactly what your order. Overall an unpleasant experience.

GENERALLY consistent service. The only thing inconsistent is the amount of cream cheese they put on the bagel. Some give you a ton, some spread it on like butter on toast. Can you please teach them to not go cheap? Are they even from New York??? Coffee is almost like water. Good selection of cream cheese. Personal favorite is the scallion cream cheese. Lox is good as well. I love the flagels. For flagel virgins, it’s a flat bagel. Toast it up crunchy. It’s delish.

Boy does this place suck. If your looking for good, fast service don’t come here. The bagels aren’t good, and everything is over priced. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked in and left without a thing because nobody was even there at the register. Pass

BROOKLYNBAGELS in a competition my friends and I had of Manhattan VS Long Island VS Brooklyn bagels sadly the bagels were nothing special in my opinion… kind of flat. ALTHOUGH i love that they offer BLUEBERRY bagels! they aren’t offered everyday, but blueberry bagels are hard to come by in the city! I got my blueberry bagel w/walnut raisin cream cheese. TYPICAL new york style LOAD of cream cheese… Highway bagel offers a more CHUNKY cream cheese if that’s your preference… i wasn’t too fond of it ONEGRIPE: my friend ordered 12 bagels with cream cheese, she asked if all 12 were there before she left, they confirmed yes… later she opened the bag only to find 10 bagels!(they offered her a refund if she came back)

I really like Highway Bagels and try to come by whenever I am in the neighborhood. The place is very clean, and the pastries, salads, foods etc are always well stocked and neatly organized in their displays. When I came here with my husband it was a bit late and we were very tired. The two young guys working the counter were patient, helpful and friendly which we really appreciated, especially at that time of night. They are probably why we remember the place when were around. I had a pizza bagel which wasn’t all that, and my husband had some roast beef sandwich which he really enjoyed, except that his order was suppose to come with caramelized onions and they gave him raw onions. He didn’t complain because the service was pleasant otherwise, but that oversight was a little frustrating since he confirmed with them when ordering that the onions would be cooked. We also ordered a red velvet cupcake which was really good! The frosting was yummy! Overall, Highway Bagels is a really nice local food stop where you get a good selection of meals and snacks and the staff treats you very nice. I like it there.

the quality of the bagels are great, they are fresh at great prices and tons of variety, they even had green bagels for the jets team during football season the service is also good, no matter what time of day you are there! I came here at midnight and didn’t feel weird or stupid for eating at that hour lol

I really wish I could give this place more stars but I can’t. Many years ago before they renovated they had the best food you could get in Midwood after 2am. The heroes were amazing, the bagels always delicious. There was always a line out the door especially in the summer. A few years ago they modernized and renovated. There’s room to sit and eat inside, that’s a great improvement. The made their«grocery» section much much much smaller, selling only what’s in the fridge. That tends to be butter, milk, juice, and soda. My problem is not even with the service. They seem to be quite organized and they even offer curbside and home delivery. That’s kinda awesome. They do have hiccups when you call in if they are busy, but even that’s understandable. My primary issue is that the quality of the food has gone down while the prices have gone up. They have a generic salad station that I never see anyone use. The deli meats are supposedly BoarsHead but unless you ask for it i’m guessing you get whatever nameless cheep generic stuff they also carry because things just do not taste the way they used too. I was originally going to give them 2 stars, but reconsidered while writing this and upped it to a 3. Mostly because of the counter service. Those guys can be really awesome at times. If this place lowered their prices just a bit and went back to quality over speed then we’d see lines out the door again like we used to. If you’re in Midwood, it’s after midnight, you’re drunk and hungry, then walk on over and you wont be disappointed. When you wake up the next morning with a bad hangover and look at that receipt, well, you’ll forget that hangover right away.
