Specialties

Mindfulness– Originally a Buddhist practice, is the purposeful focus on the present moment in a nonjudgmental way. Practices include diaphragmatic breathing, meditation, relaxation techniques, visualizations and imagery. Studies on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction indicate that Mindfulness reduces anxiety, depression, blood pressure, ADHD symptoms, increases focus and feelings of well being. In today’s electronically demanding society Mindfulness benefits everyone in reducing stress. I use Mindfulness with adults and children.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy– evaluates the relationship between thoughts, feelings and actions. I work collaboratively with my clients to create clear, action oriented goals to target specific problem behaviors. Together we explore the beliefs behind these behaviors and challenge irrational thoughts by experimenting with new and adaptive ways of interacting with our minds and the outside world. CBT is an evidence based practice proven effective in treating anxiety, depression, phobias and a wide array of mental illnesses.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy– based in psychoanalysis and attachment theory, treats the child-parent relationship in cases where the child has experienced a trauma. The identified «client» is the relationship between the child and the parent. It is an appropriate treatment for children with issues of impulse control, attention, aggression, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, excessive tantrums, and more.
