Poor service and with attitude.
Our table watched a server kick a fork across the floor and then pick it up wipe it on his leg and hand it to a patron, to say the least our table was disgusted.
Received the wrong order and then their compromise was to give us half price toppings instead of making us the correct pie.
The pizza may be famous, but it definitely not unique or worth enduring this service. Try any brick oven pizza place in the city and you will find an identical if not better tasting pizza and hopefully better service.

threw my sons birthday party there and it was great, the kids had a wonderful time between the make your own pizzas to the games they where very happy, and it helped that the parents could have a beer or a glass of wine.
i was also amazed at how reasonable the part cost me.
the food was great and the staff was amazing.

Really mediocre pizza if you ask me. Also, I don’t think they accept cash, which is a problem. It does get busy so if you had to, I would look at other options.

Went here tonight for date night with my boyfriend and I have to say I wasn’t impressed. Everyone always raved about this place and I was dying to try it. The place itself was dead and even for a Monday night I was surprised. We had a e-​gift card and the waiter at first was nice about it. But when it came to redeeming it she told us why didn’t we just print it. We got the Caesar salad to share which was pretty good but covered in cheese. Then we got a pizza with chicken and mushrooms and for $ 22 it wasn’t that good. They charge $ 4 for a snapple and $ 3 for a fountain drink. I would have to say this is the last time we go there.

I was here in the summer on a Monday. We were seated right away when we entered. We were a party of 8 so it was good that there was no wait during lunch time. We ordered two pies. One which was just plain. And the other we added two toppings of pineapple and sausage. The service was fast, and we got our pizza in a timely fashion. We also ordered their salad with chicken. I must admit, I think I’m more of a fan of their salad than their pizza.
I liked the pizza. I especially love the thin crust. Service was good. I definitely enjoyed the place and wouldn’t mind coming back though. CASH ONLY.

First class boardwalk pizza joint! Grimaldi’s was the perfect ending to my first visit to Coney Island.
The pizza was brought out hot and was made right in front of us. We ordered a bacon and pepperoni pie and the flavor was a perfect blend of fresh cheese, homemade sauce, and high quality pepperoni. The only downside was a chewy crust. You can tell this place puts an emphasis on high quality ingredients and the ambiance makes the experience perfect for the post Coney Island day.

I would absolutely recommend this place and will be visiting Grimaldi’s again very soon!

Between boardwalk food or Grimaldi’s in this area, guess which one I picked.
I had a pie to go in 10 minutes. For some reason, it tasted better than their other location which is fine by me.

Could someone advise me if this is (or not) a branch off the famous Grimaldi’s in DUMBO, Brooklyn? Hopefully, your answer is ‘no’.
My siblings and I were in the mood for pizza, and we had Grimaldi’s on our minds. We see that there is a branch in Coney Island with pesto pizza on the menu, so we decided to come here. We arrived just after 6:00 PM on a Saturday evening and were seated promptly — just before the hungry dinner crowd. The ambiance was pretty loud with mashed up music from the outside and their own music (headache, much!). There were projectors on with black and white pictures of Coney Island in the past — which was pretty cool. The tables and chairs were a bit sticky.
We got a large pesto pizza with added pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom. Take advantage of your Unilocal check-​in and get a $ 2.00 topping free. Our pizza came out pretty quickly. The pie was covered with white cheese and pesto sauce with an even distribution of our toppings. A large pie was cut into eight slices. The pizza was thin crust and had a chewy texture in the middle. Since the white cheese and pesto was separated instead of infused together, each bite was just one-​dimensional. To simply put it, it was just boring and bland tasting. As a purist, I usually do not add any extra seasonings to my pizza but I did… I had to shake up lots of hot pepper spices, garlic, and basil but it really did not help. The crust, usually my favorite part, was really hard to chew… But, the pepperoni was crispy and tasty.
For those who never really had gourmet, coal-​oven pizza before, you would probably say it’s good. But if you have, let’s stay away. I have been to all the Grimaldi’s in New York City and Long Island and I really had to question myself if this is really part of them.

I’ve been here twice but only during the Coney Island off-​season, so it’s never been too busy. I think during one of those visit my boyfriend and I may have been the only people there. On my most recent visit my boyfriend and I started with the caprese salad. I was trying to convince him to make the switch from mozzarella sticks to mozzarella salads, he’s never been one for cold cheeses. It didn’t work. Oh well, more for me.
I can’t remember the exact pizza we got since we wound up getting different toppings for each half but I think my side was italian sausage, spinach, mushrooms, and black olives. The pizza was alright, albeit a bit dry. It was even a bit burned on the bottom. My previous visit to the establishment they had done MUCH better. Maybe they aren’t as good when they have too much free time? Our server was on the ball though, bringing us refills before we even realized we needed them.
Generally, Grimaldi’s is alright. Nothing amazing but nothing awful. But I would only go in the offseason, I’ve seen it WAY too packed in the summertime.

We went to the location on 6^th ave. Pizza was amazing and I love the fact they use all fresh ingredients. Crust was flavorful and crispy. We ordered a small pie, which was more than enough for two people. This was definitely the best pizza we had in NYC. We are from Florida, so the «NY style» pizza we have here pales in comparison to Grimaldi’s. Service was great and the pizzeria appears to be in a cute, quaint, historic Chapel. We will definitely visit again.

If I was rating Grimaldi’s in the pizza alone it would rate a solid 4 stars, but the service we received knocked it down to a 3 star at best.
Once we got our food we became virtually non existent to our server. He asked us once in passing if everything was OK and then we never saw him again. We had to get up and go to the counter to try to get someone to give us our check.
If we’re in Coney Island again I wouldn’t give it another chance.

I LOVE pizza & grimaldis is amazing!!! The line is super loong if you go to the brooklyn promenade location but its totally worth it. The view is beautiful too & you can grab an icecream cone right after and stroll by the brooklyn promenade. They have other locations as well in coney island, garden city & the most famous one, bk promenade. Ive been to all 3 & all are just as good.

Their kitschy ambience and customer service is very nice, but their pizza was fare. I wasn’t all that impressed with the taste. The MARGHERITA pizza wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t nearly as good as other pizza places I’ve eaten at.
If you go to Coney Island, you go for other things, not Grimaldi’s pizza. Too much hype in my opinion.

First time dining at Coney Island. Haven’t had a worse experience at any pizzeria in New York. The small pizza was $ 16, and we paid an extra $ 4 for chicken and $ 2 for pineapple. Five minutes after we ordered, I asked if I could add pepperoni to our pizza. The wait staff said, with an attitude, that the pizza was already cooking so it wouldn’t be possible. However, 30 minutes later, our pizza was still not ready. When the pizza came out, there was virtually no sauce, and I couldn’t even taste the chicken that I paid extra for on the pizza. My water had been empty the entire time I was waiting, but no one came to refill it.
This place is more expensive than a typical pizzeria, and their food tastes worse than anywhere else I’ve been to.

I have always wanted to try the pizza at the original location, but since it isn’t too close to where I live, I figured that trying the pizza in the coney island location would of been just as good. It was really nothing special though.
What I do like about the pizzeria is that it is easy to get seated here no matter how large the party is, the lines aren’t long and the service is fast.
We ordered a large pie with pepperoni, spinach and cheese, and the quality of the ingredients wasn’t what I expected, in the mom and pop’ pizza shops in Brooklyn, you get more of the toppings
the pizza simply wasn’t filling, there wasn’t enough sauce or toppings, and I question if the toppings are even fresh or just shipped from somewhere else
the taste itself wasn’t bad though, there wasn’t a WOW factor though
was it worth 15 dollars? I don’t think so, if you are still hungry after 3 slices, you got yourself a problem
the tables themselves don’t even have oregano or garlic, just salt pepper and crushed red pepper flakes, I would expect that to be on the table upfront
what probably made my experience enjoyable was the dessert, it was hard to choose from all the great options in the first place including cappuccino truffles, crème brulee„ chocolate cakes, frozen yogurt with berries and raspberry cheesecake, the raspberry cheesecake was excellent, it was rich and thick, it tasted fresh too, and the frozen yogurt with berries was so delicious that I wanted to pick up another one
what I didn’t like here is that the atm didn’t even work, there was 0 air conditioning, and they don’t deliver in the area.
at least the bathroom was clean, that was a plus.
would I come back here? maybe if I try more items on the menu I will change my mind on what they have to offer, but until further notice I wont be going out of my way to come here.

After wanting to try this & never getting to, I finally had that opportunity. This is not your traditional pizza place & it is a NYC institution. This pizza really wasn’t the least bit greasy, which I loved.
I got a free topping with this for checking in with Unilocal and got cheese with pineapple. It was delish. We also had the place to ourselves even though it was a nice weekend evening and you’d think it’d be packed. Service was fine though price is not cheap here.
Another thing to note is that they were playing Looney Tunes cartoons from the ‘40s in the restaurant (which I recognized as a fan of Bugs Bunny & the like). Some of them were from the notorious Censored 11 & had the black characters, who’d been edited out of television long ago due to their «offensive» content (and, yes they’re pretty offensive/​racist). However, the world did not implode, I heard no complaints and was happy to see a business engaging in free speech without the PC police or packs of crybabies trying to censor the world. One of those «only in NYC» things that I was happy to see. Maybe there’s hope after all.

This is not the same pizza I ate on Front Street at the original location… Not even close. I’m so upset. Why keep the name if you don’t keep the recipe? Not right.
I still am not sure where they went wrong. Took a pie to go, and the BF goes, «Well, it definitely smells like the original Grimaldi’s. And he was right. So, imagine our surprise when we got home: It was okay… as in «edible.»
My BF can really eat, and let me tell you, this was the first time I saw him salt a pizza. You should never have to do that eating at Grimaldi’s. No, sir.
Plain, flavorless, and probably just a basic pizza for a newcomer, but it’s no Grimaldi’s.

The two stars going for the food quality. The service I want to say was good and the guy was helpful. When we got the pizza we asked for a pesto pizza and chicken on top. Not only they gave very little chicken it tasted like a refrigerator taste, thus making the chicken not fresh. I mean really?! You guys don’t taste it before you give it to customers? My friend and I got poisoned. He didn’t feel well and I wanted to kill my self because I felt so crappy. Cold sweats and the nausea were the worse. Right before NYE. It’s a shame you guys took the name but never took the staying fresh seriously.
And don’t try to contact me and accommodate me with more toxic pizza.
And one more thing it’s been a year and something. Time to adjust to the future and embrace a freaking credit terminal. What the fffffff?! Cash only?!

Went to Coney Island on vacation and stopped at the newer Grimaldis. (Wasn’t in the mood for Nathan’s.) Had the basic sausage pie. It’s good but nothing extraordinary. Probably wouldn’t visit if it wasn’t an institution.

Big clean location at Coney Island.
They do NOT serve Beer — which was really sad, beer and pizza is sooo good!
Pizza’s were made really well, cooked perfectly, not burnt at all. Just didn’t think it was anything special. Great place for good thin crust pizza.
Service was good. Came with 10 friends, and didn’t have any issues getting a table.
Pesto Pizza was AMAZING!!! Flavor was perfect. Definitely the best of the three we ordered
White Pizza — would not get this again.
Margarita Pizza — in general i’m not a fan, but we had a vegetarian with us, so we had to get it

Bueno, este en uno de los locales que visité en mi viaje y ya me habían hablado muy bien de él… pero habiendo comido en un par de sitios antes en NY me temía las raciones gigantescas que con un plato de algo comen 2 turistas sin problemas (y puede hasta sobrar!), por lo que con experiencia encima no nos pillaron y pedimos dos pizzas para un grupo de 5.
Es algo diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados en España y solo hay dos tipos de pizzas para pedir, con tomate o sin tomate, una margarita de toda la vida en la que luego añades los ingredientes que quieras, peperoni, jamón cocido (york), … todo esto puedes elegir o que sea entera (tamaño familiar) o que sea media de una cosa y media de otra (os aconsejo esto último porque son enormes…) y luego cuando te la traen la ponen en alto con una especie de alzador, con lo que compensa ya que las mesas son un poco pequeñas y entre los vasos y si pones un plato de una pizza ya no cabría nada (ah! no os paséis con el picante que lo tienen en las mesas como un salero grande con chili picado… pica un hue… mucho…), luego pedís una «Picher» de Dr Peppers (es como si bebieras una piruleta de cola) para terminar una buena comida americana (os pueden atender en español… bueno… spanglish, avisados estáis cuando oigáis palabras en inglés españolizado no os asustéis xD).
Respecto al local, esta curioso, es un local diáfano con los ladrillos a la vista y con una decoración bastante a lo industrial con las mesas y las sillas de madera, es agradable y además tiene las vistas al parque de atracciones de Coney Island, por donde está en verano se debe de llenar hasta la bandera, pero sobre Marzo-​Abril que el parque permanece cerrado no hay problema de mesas y las vistas están chulas porque no hay gente tapándolas.
Positivo: Pizzas casi a tu gusto, bien de precio para comer grupo.
Negativo: Cuando el parque de Coney Island esté abierto se debe llenar, mesas pequeñas.
