Not the best, but it’s close to my school and it’s fast. Their wontons are not wontons but fuzhounese wontons(better than wontons). The price they have on Unilocal now is not current, they have up the price but the food is still worth their price.

It is a hole in the wall in not the best neighborhood. But the food is outstanding, although the portions are small. The proprietor is very courteous.

I came here around 1pm on a Monday; I had 5 fried pork & chive dumplings and a beef scallion pancake. OVERALL: It’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s easy. Perfect way to get done with lunch ASAP, just don’t expect the world’s best dumplings. [4/5] SERVICE: The woman taking orders was very patient and calm with all the customers I saw. The accent may make it harder for some people to understand what number was called. Despite the fact that the place was packed, my order was still ready in under 10 minutes. [5/5] ROOM: Very small, jam packed room. Almost everyone took their order to go. That said, everything looked clean and then did get an A for sanitation inspection just earlier this year. Seating is cheap and rickety, but it comes with the territory of being a quick and dirty dumpling shop. [4/5] FOOD: First off, the dumplings were definitely freshly made. After I ordered, I looked over and I saw a young woman folding dumplings with fresh dumpling wrappers and a mounded bowl of pork filling. This is more of a northern style dumpling, with fresh, thicker skins. Therefore, in my opinion, these dumplings are better boiled than fried because the fried, thick skins can feel a bit tough, requiring a drink to help wash them down. The scallion pancake is not worth getting unless you’re a carb fiend. There’s two thin slices of beef in a thick, bready pancake. It wasn’t particularly hot and the beef wasn’t particularly flavorful. That said, there were some nice, crisp quick pickled daikon and carrot in there to liven things up. By the way, the condiments above the trash are soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hot sauce. If you really like the dumpling sauce they give you(and you can pay extra for), realize it’s just soy + vinegar + sugar. Overall, the dumplings were decent, the pancake was a miss. [3.5/5] VALUE: It was really damn cheap. Even though I wasn’t blown away by the food, it’s still a steal. [5/5]

$ 3 for 10 handmade transparently-thin pork & chive steamed dumplings. Man, nostalgic! Plus an order of chicken fried rice with just enough of that take-out greasiness without the queasiness. Modest hole in the wall eatery, pleasantly clean with friendly folk. Cash only — the type of cheap good eat that’s dying as Brooklyn gentrifies.

What a find while on a Christmas vacation last year. Thought I had reviewed it but obviously didn’t. I can’t say anything that hasn’t been said before. Go there. Cheap. Good. Filling. If I lived there I would certainly have them in the freezer like was suggested by another Unilocaler.

First time visiting this wonderful hole in the wall. Two of us ate for $ 12.25. The boiled pork dumplings were scrumptious. The fried pork dumplings were crisp and delicious. The chicken lo mein was a delight! We will definitely be going back. Would love to try their soup when it gets colder!

The morning I pass by the street, that“s near where I work I already had a planned to be here @ Golden Fried Dumpling for my lunch. Its a small shop but can cater customers for take outs and dine in. its a self service! I got myself a treat of Black bean paste with meat and pork dumplings together with Shredded pork fried rice(chunked).plus a scallion pancake. delicious! The place is simple and clean. The food speaks for itself with a good service as well. I’ll be here next time.

Simple, apparently Northern Chinese, ridiculously inexpensive takeout restaurant crouching mouselike amid the gentrifying new towers and the middle-age Metrotech ones. Enjoy it before it becomes another bubble-tea joint. Many other users find it lacking compared to Prosperity Dumpling and Vanessa’s Dumpling House. But this is real street food, not a trendy imitation. You’ll find this kind of place in Manhattan’s Chinatown east of the Bowery, serving low-budget yet authentic comfort snacks, paying little for labor or ingredients or promotion. Unilocalers’ word of mouth brought me here, not a feature in Time Out New York. My boiled cabbage-and-pork dumplings were tender and tasty(10 for $ 3). If the sesame-pancake sandwich had little sesame or scallion, and its roast pork was cold and fatty, and its carrot and cucumber slivers were more like salad than bahn mi, well, it was still worth its 1970s price of $ 2.25. I’ll be back for other dishes(and more dumplings).

Cheap and good. Not like the greatest place in the entire world but for the price I have no complaints. Got the pan fried veggie dumplings and veggie lo mein. Dumplings were great but really doughy. Lo mein was good but paler than your typical lo mein. The flavors were great in both. I’ll return because my schools near by and you can’t beat the price.

Soooooo good for the price! This place may appear to be a little while in the whole but the food is great for the price. I’m a student and this area can be a little pricey to buy good lunch at a fare price. This place offers exactly what I need. Low cost with good quality. No $ 1 slice of pizza or Micky dees for me. I will come here instead. I bought lunch for two and it only came up to $ 9.75…wow! I couldn’t believe it. The line is always long here so give yourself a good amount of time so you can enjoy it

This is truly a five star worthy eatery. Small restaurant with a few really great items on the menu. The woman behind the counter is really sweet. Reminds me of my years working as a soup cook in a Chinese restaurant. I come here at least once a week sometimes even twice a week. One day while I was working in the lab at NYU Polytechnic, I came here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! The best items on the menu are NUMBER3(steamed pork dumplings 10 count) and NUMBER12(steamed pork bun). I get them with a can of diet coke or a green tea. Did I mention it is cheap cheap cheap! At first I was upset when their price went up by a quarter, then I realized I was getting a lunch for the price of a metro swipe! Limited seating and can be cold during the winter time. Some total wad must have messed up the bathroom because now it is locked. Gets crowded around lunch time. My only advice, go there now! Right near a Citi Bike rack as well!

Finally got here! I read reviews months ago about how amazing and cheap their food is. So many people say this place is small, but it really isn’t? lol Anyway, I got the steamed shrimp dumplings. Let me first say, the customer service is nice. The time it took the steam dumplings tho?? It took a helluva long time. I was the ONLY customer there, and the guy making it took his jolly old time. One guy walked in and out with his food(I guess he got something already made). They taste pretty good though; I don’t know many good dumpling places around Brooklyn. I’ll come back in the future, but I hope the service isn’t as slow as it was that night!

I tried the dumplings a few times and now the juicey little buns. I think they are barely even decent and I’ve never even finished all of them which is unprecedented for me. Won’t be back and I don’t recommend. Even the roast pork buns that you can find at any Chinese bakery are terrible. Wow

Fantastic hole in the wall and relatively authentic Chinese food in Downtown Brooklyn. It is a much better alternative to the bulletproof Chinese spots that litter the landscape. For the uninitiated, bulletproof Chinese spots are fast food Chinese takeout restaurants with bulletproof glass in between the customer and the restaurant staff. The menus are always very Americanized and greasy. This is no such place. The fried dumplings can get a bit crunchy if they have been left out too long. They cook them, then place them in plastic containers under a heat source to stay warm. I recommend the steamed dumplings, especially the chicken or the shrimp. They also have lo mein and a fantastic spicy beef and vegetable soup which will give life to all eaters during the winter. The inside of the restaurant is cramped and old looking. Its not dirty, but its not an ideal sit down spot. However outside the city recently constructed a wooden patio next to the curb with benches and small picnic tables. Its a perfect spot to grub on your dumplings or noodles. GFD is worth a try for cheap, quick and delicious eats in downtown BK.

This is a quick spot for a cheap lunch. It’s a hole in the wall if you sneeze you will walk right by it. Seriously. I had the boiled shrimp dumplings, they were tender and seasoned a definite must have if you visit. I wanted more, but the soup was bland and lacked content and character. meat, tofu, noodles. wth… The setting is totally dull, dingy, dimly lit, and generic… a true dive. My food was served on Styrofoam plates, which maybe nostalgic for a quick bite, but seriously I’d rather eat at my cubicle back at the office. This place is not the second coming, it’s not great, it’s just okay, but nothing spectacular. The food is cheap and in this city where almost everything is extremely over priced… cheap has its appeal… I get that. Oh and there’s wonderful seating provided by the city located right outside the restaurant. Go two blocks over to J Street take the F train to the Lower East Side of Manhattan and buy into to some ambience… no seriously get some chopsticks, sit down and relax, but if you only have an hour and you have to get back to the office to answer emails then this is the spot.

We came here after donating blood nearby, Unilocal reviews made us think this was like East Broadway, Chinatown dumplings quality! Sadly, it was nothing like it. The service is minimal, and the food came quick. The«restaurant» is small and dingy and very hot. Luckily, there are city benches right in front that anyone can use to sit and eat. We ordered dumpling, both steamed and fried, and the sa cha beef noodles. The fried dumplings were mostly skin and not enough filling. The steamed dumplings had more fillings but not enough taste. The noodles were bland and beef minimal. Overall, this is a cheap spot for a quick eat in this area, but if this area wasn’t so expensive, this type of dumpling quality would never survive.

Super fast prepared food for a really cheap price. I ordered the black bean paste with meat in noodles and pork dumplings. The noodles were mediocre at best. The amount of paste sauce and meat was too little with an overdose of excess veggie toppings. The dumplings were alright but the pork size was small yet again. This is the type of restaurant where they care more about quantity than quality.

Let me begin by saying that you should come here if you are in need of a cheap meal. See my photograph to fully grasp how much food I was able to buy with 11 dollars. That aspect was quite remarkable. However, the rest… I went to order some take-out on a Wednesday night around 6:30 pm. A few people were also waiting for take-out but there was no line. I waited for about 7 minutes for my food. The pork bun was my least favorite of the three dishes I tried. Compared to others I have had in Chinatown, this bun was dry and the meat inside was mostly fat and gristle. Quite terrible and unappetizing! They actually ended up not being eaten and thrown away. I also tried the sa cha beef noodle soup because so many people recommended it on Unilocal. It was okay. I was surprised by what a large portion it was for ~$ 5. A big bowl of broth with noodles, veggies and three pieces of meat. However, the meat had a lot of fat on it and the broth was spicy but otherwise flavorless — if that makes any sense. Somehow it was so bland. I added quote a bit of soy sauce and hoisin sauce once I got it home. However, I also had the boiled pork dumplings and thought these were pretty tasty. I would possibly return but just for the dumplings. I would definitely not order the bun or noodles ever again.

I think this place is the definition of a hole in the wall. Located next to a church(?) on a random empty street, it could be hard to see. Look for a red awning! Definitely order: roast pork bun(the single, big one) usually, buns are meant to be dipped in soy sauce of some sort. This one contains wonderfully flavorful marinated roast pork and can be eaten alone. I was happily surprised. Sa Cha Beef Noodle Soup The beef is so tender, spicy and melt in your mouth thin. I wish there were 10 more pieces! The vegetables add a nice crunch to the chewy noodles. It’s honestly not that spicy, but I have a high spice tolerance. Pork and chive boiled dumplings(10 pieces) I don’t know what the dumpling wrappers are made of. But they are scrumptious and addicting. It’s chewy but melt in your mouth. Super quick service! Everything came out in 3 minutes, packed perfectly to-go. Yeah, the employees are kind of intimidating, but they’re not rude.(Not going to lie… I decided what to order outside so they wouldn’t stare me down).

Greasy and cheap dumplings! This is literally a hole in the wall. It’s a tight squeeze in the place during lunch. I’m pescatarian so 8 fried dumplings are $ 5.25. When I got to the office, my dumplings were huge, fluffy and glistened in grease. And when I took a nibble there was definitely a fare amount of shrimp. It has been hours and I am still stuffed. My friend ordered two orders of pork dumplings, chicken noodles and a side of rice… all for 8 bucks! A lot cheaper if you eat meat. She definitely got two meals out of this one purchase. I will be coming back to try the noodles. Asian comfort food but not an every day treat. There are tables, if you don’t mind people’s butts in you face while you eat. And definitely bring cash. Fast service. Cheap eats!

Probably not the right choice for glutamate-sensitive people, but for all those, who love dumplings, go for it! Highly recommended for take away.
