I got my third tattoo here today. It was the biggest piece I’ve gotten, with a lot of complicated detail. Annie is a pro, and so kind. She nailed it, and it’s precise af (pic on her instagram at @getfatbk, nautilus for Marina on 4÷6÷16). It looks like she lasered it onto my back: it’s perfect. It’s actually better than the image I gave her to work from. Not only that, she has the lightest touch, so it was quick and surprisingly pain-​free, and we are talking about a super detailed back piece that was 3″ by 5″, on my shoulder blade. If you want to get a great tattoo, she’s completely worth the money and the wait.

5 stars for sure! I chose Annie because of her Unilocal reviews and also because her work is clearly awesome on her website and I was not disappointed. The experience was delightful, Annie is awesome, and her work was well worth the 9 months plus wait. Yes yes and more yes to Annie Lloyd and Get Fat Brooklyn.

A couple years ago I went to a shop in Union Square and got something that not only wasn’t what I asked for, but was just all around bad. It was an awful experience and the tat took up a pretty big space on my upper arm. After several removal sessions, I came to Annie after she did some amazing work on my partner.
She and I consulted a couple times during the removal process before going ahead and making an appointment. It was a long road, but she was able to make a terrible situation into something really amazing. It was definitely worth the wait, because now I am so happy to now have a work of art on my arm instead of something I hate looking at.
Annie is so beyond talented at what she does, I can’t recommend her enough.

I sat on my tattoo idea for 7 years before seeing Annie’s portfolio and realizing she was the right artist to bring my tattoo to life. I could not be happier. She created a beautiful piece for me. I love it! She has a gentle hand, the ambience is comfortable, and she is easy to talk to. This was a wonderful tattoo experience.

When I contacted the shop to do a tattoo of my mom’s drawing on my back they initially told me that it would be a 10 month wait. I was going to be in NY in 4 months and asked if they could do anything and they managed to squeeze me in. Annie underestimated how long the tattoo would take (she initially thought 2 hours, but it was more like 6) so when I showed up she told her fiancée that she was going to have to miss her FIT graduation to do my tattoo. I thought that was insane so we talked about it and she finished the outline that day and then I came back in 2 weeks to finish the rest of the tattoo. She was super personable at both appointments and how she managed to be so accommodating with such a packed schedule amazed me. I’ll try to attach a picture of the tattoo to this review, Annie is so incredibly talented and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable. Thank you thank you thank you Annie!!!

The most amazing experience, should be the title of this review. I went to get my first tattoo with Annie yesterday and I know it sounds crazy, but I felt so comfortable I could have fallen asleep. I’m not good with pain (or so I think) so I was super nervous. I booked my appointment in February of last year so I had been waiting forever. Getting to the shop was easy and the place is so clean and comfortable that my nerves were at ease. Annie is so thorough in her set up that it makes you feel like this isn’t a normal run of the mill shop. As we got started she was gentle and calming. She has awesome music playing while she tattoos (smashing pumpkins, STP, Foo Fighters, and other bands that you can’t help but hum along), which she does! I know this sounds crazy, but she hummed along to the songs close enough to my ear that it soothed me and I hummed along too… making the session feel more like a spa than like I was getting a needle stabbed in to my back (lol).
When it was over I just wanted to jump and hug her, but she’s so professional that I felt stupid. My tattoo is beatuful. A small word, but it means the world to me and I’m so happy she was the one to do it. After she clearly explained how to care for the tattoo and gave us a small paper with instructions. She’s incredibly comforting, she’s professional (I thought I wanted to move the tattoo and she told me reasons why not too, which I agreed with), shes kind, and above all she’s amazing!
I can’t sat enough about Annie and her shop. If you’re considering another place don’t even, Annie is above all the best decision I’ve made ina long time and she’ll make your first, second, or 50^th tattoo the best experience of your life.

My husband and I got our first tattoo’s a few days ago from Annie and all I can say is PERFECTION! We had a consultation about 8 months ago and from the moment we walked into GetFat we knew this was the place for us. When we showed up for our appointments I was nervous but the minute Annie started I was completely comfortable and relaxed. I owe the no pain to her gentle hand and expertise! We booked another day for next year and it will be worth the wait. As my husband says «This is how a gentleman gets tattooed». Cant wait to get the next one!

I have had tattoos done in a couple of places locally and in other parts of the country. Now that I have found Annie, I can’t imagine going to anyone else. She has done three tattoos for me and I can’t wait for my next appointment. Yes, the wait is long, but it is so worth it. She is a true artist. Annie exudes talent and professionalism. She is honest, helpful and smart. Her new space is warm, inviting and relaxing. Between the atmosphere, music and company, your session is over before you know it and I know for myself, I am always beyond happy with the outcome!

I’m new to the tattoo world. I got my first tattoo at the age of 37 (I’ll be 39 soon). I always wanted one for years but I never found an artist that I liked or trusted. I’ve heard and saw many tattoo nightmares on other people and it always made me gun shy, but then I saw Annie’s work. I didn’t see anything she did that I didn’t like. She has talent, a vision and consistency. I feel consistency is very important since you only get one shot to get the tat right. I applaud her for that!
She’s done two pieces for me so far and I am already booked for my third. Yes, the waiting list is long but it is so worth the wait! Her new place is impressive! It’s comfortable and modern and gives off a feel of a day spa. Annie’s assistant is also very personable and very professional. She was quick in responding to a post tattoo email that I had sent her.
I am already referring Annie to many friends looking for quality work. Annie’s artistry will be the only work I’ll have on my body. Annie, you’re awesome and am honored to have your artwork on me!

Annie is undoubtedly my favorite tattoo artists. She has done amazing art work on my body for the past 5 years and I am so happy. I love the actual Get Fat space… it is super chill, inviting and super easy to get to. Love everything about this place!

Is it possible to feel such zen while getting ink? I just did today! I would call this place a tattoo spa, or the «sleep no more» of tattoo parlors. This is unlike any other tattoo parlor experience, this is where you feel like an ultimate VIP! I wouldn’t be surprised if the shops owner has a secret speak easy hidden away somewhere in the basement. (or at least I secretly wish she did)
The décor of the place allows you to fully relax and feel as though you are at home, perfectly safe and sound. The shops owner and Artist has a very long waiting list, and it is absolutely worth the wait! After todays experience I am already thinking of my future tattoos.

Let me begin by saying, if you find a great artist, stick with them and stay. I first got tattooed by Annie 4 yeas ago and instantly fell in love with her work. About a year later I had a second piece done with her and I was hooked. I tried to make an appointment for a third tattoo and was freaked out when I heard how long it would be until the appointment. My friend then recommended her boyfriend’s shop and I thought I’d give it a shot, boy was that a huge mistake. Months later I called and made my appointment with Annie to cover it up with her magic, and lets just say I’ll never look back. I’ve learned that when you find someone like Annie with such patience, calming energy and beautiful work you stay with them and never «shop around». Get Fat is so comfortable and sweet, you almost forget that you’re in a tattoo parlor. I love Annie and her shop and look forward to getting all of my work done by her for as long as she’s tattooing.

Just had my second session with a couple more to go. To be absolutely honest, if you’ve been tattooed before, forget everything you think you know about the tattoo experience, because Annie and Get Fat totally crushes those preconceived notions of what you’ve come to expect from a tattoo shop and artist. I’ve been to spa’s that aren’t as comfortable and inviting as this was.
Putting that all aside, let’s not forget why you’re here in the first place… and that’s to get poked and prodded by the great Annie Lloyd. I could sit here and go on and on about her work, but really, you need to see it yourself. It’s 2014 people, she’s all over Facebook and Instagram. And even then, you’ll only see a fraction of what this amazing talent is cranking out.
Price? Totally worth every penny. I mean let’s be real, this is a permanent mark, would you trust the guy who has work hanging at the MOMA or the guy slinging caricatures in front of the MOMA? Yes, they’re both artists, but only by craft, not skill.
Bottom line is, don’t listen to me, I’m just some dude with a keyboard and a Unilocal account… you really MUST check out Get Fat for yourself, it really is a killer experience with amazing results.

Annie is seriously the best. I’ve never had work done by any other artist but I’ve been around other artists for friend’s tattoos and no one is like her. She is relaxed, professional, SO easy to talk to, takes your idea exactly as you envisioned it and somehow as if by magic makes it 10 times better than you saw in your head.
I only have one tattoo from her, and at first wasn’t sure if it was worth waiting the 8 months i had to wait to get it because i was in a huge rush to get my first, but after the experience, I would wait years for another piece if it meant getting Annie to ink me again. Fortunately I don’t have to because I already have an appointment for a much larger arm piece next Spring, but seriously, if you are considering her, DON’T WAIT. Book your appointment now. Book your next 10 appointments now, even if you don’t know what you want right now, she’s worth it.
The last thing I will say is that the «About the business» description could not be more spot on. Her line work is the cleanest I have ever seen, her attitude is exactly what you’d want from someone who’s spending hours ripping apart your skin to make a permanent ink scar, and her customer service could not be more professional.
Like everyone else said, whether you’re getting your first tattoo or can barely squeeze another one in, you’ll be doing yourself a huge favor by going to Annie.

Annie did my first tattoo. I know now that it was very basic compared to the masterpieces she usually creates! She was patient and answered all of my questions.
In December, she’s doing her fourth tattoo on me. I wouldn’t go to anyone else! She takes my half-​baked ideas and turns them into intricate, detailed perfection.
Whether it’s your first or 500^th tattoo, do yourself a favor and go see Annie! She’s the best!
Update 3÷7÷2014:
After seeing one bad review (clearly a mistake and very likely the only one she’ll ever receive), I had to update my previous five-​star review. Annie is the most gracious and overwhelmingly accommodating business owner I’ve ever come across — seriously, EVER. A perfect example: I came to Annie’s shop from Boston for an evening appointment last December. Very unfortunately and completely my fault, I had to take a late night bus back to catch a flight out of Logan for work the next morning. Even though I surprised her with this deadline, Annie didn’t miss a beat. She took her time; she didn’t rush; and she finished the work as perfectly as ever. She even called me a cab and offered a place to stay if I got stuck. I’ve seen Annie for six tattoos, and not only has the work been immaculate every time, so was the customer service (this includes from the other folks that help out at the shop). Counting the days until #7!!!

Annie is nothing short of amazing. Her work speaks for itself.
Word of advice… plan ahead. This talented tattoo artist is booked out for a reason!
If you are going for your first tattoo or are a seasoned collector, she is worth the wait.
