Just stumbled across this place as I was getting off the G train! Such a cute nursery! I found a gorgeous selection of pumpkins and gourds, which I had been looking all over the neighborhood for. The owner is super friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back! Can’t wait to see how it is decorated at Christmas time!

Discovering Gardel’s was the highlight of my weekend, and maybe even my year so far! I know, these are strong statements, but the owner was incredibly helpful and rescued my poor snake plant, who was really not doing so well(I named my plant and therefore I refer to her as she). He scolded me on Saturday for over-watering(:() but said he could help her out, if i came back the next day. I returned to find a changed snake plane – she had been repotted, and looked so much better. He only charged me for the price of the new pot, $ 12 plus tax. I seriously would have paid 4 times that. To add some context, this little plot of land in Fort Greene is flush with botanical beauties of all different sizes, and the adorable cat who hangs out here only adds to the charm. Gardel’s is my new hero – I wish I could give it 6 stars. Given my black thumb I don’t know how often I’ll need to buy flowers or plants but if I ever do, it will be here for sure.

My husband and I wanted to get our first Christmas tree a few years ago. They were being sold every ten feet here but we weren’t thrilled about the prices or service. We came across Gardel’s Garden not realizing it was an actual store — it was late and dark and I don’t think there was a sign up or it wasn’t lit. The owner showed us a few trees. He was so incredibly nice and helpful. We were so happy with our tree. We’ve been back every Christmas since and plan on continuing as long as we are in the neighborhood. Maybe I need to start working on turning my black thumb green so I can enjoy this place more than once a year.

Great service, people and product. Don’t believe the hipsters selling you a «prime» Christmas tree, check out Gardel’s Garden in Fort Greene. Gardel is a hard working man with good intentions — best looking and priced Christmas trees done the«Old School» way.

Gardel is an expert who also installs and designs gardens. He has great product and fantastic product. Dont be fooled b the small space. Gardel will talk to you about what you are looking for and iether tell you when he will have it in or do whatver he can to fill your order. I myself am a designer and needed specific plants for a clients garden. Gardel found everything we needed at a great price and deliverd the plants in a tmely and professional manor. i enjoy buying locally and plan on using him as a resource for plants as well as installtions for big and small jobs.

A true neighborhood garden shop. Kind of like stepping back fifty years when gardening was a weekend pasttime & hobby rather than a lifestyle statement. Skip the cut flowers and go for the gardening advice. This isn’t the sort of place that sells Votivo candles next to their Pitcher Plants; instead, you’ll learn how to resuscitate a dying bougainvilla or how to properly transfer your plant into a larger pot. It’s perfect for beginner & expert gardeners. They know their stuff — plus, they’re willing to cut deals on certain items.
