I don’t understand how a store like this expects to have any repeat business with service policies like this. Bought an adapter here, plugged it in for one minute which was long enough to tell it was a piece of junk, called them immediately only to be informed that I couldn’t return it. Save yourself a headache. Go to Game Stop across the street. Believe me, I hate saying that.

I bought a «new» $ 2503DSXL here that was defective and NOTNEW. It turns off randomly but didn’t start until about 10 days after purchase. The manager refused to let me return it because it was past 7 days. I told them I would never shop here again and they didn’t care. I called Nintendo and they said that serial number was purchased from Target in July, not October. It was either stolen or traded in and passed off as new. These guys aren’t «the little guy» they’re shady and rude. Stick with Target or Game Stop.

You should always buy from the little guys. I’ve been coming to Game Champ for seemingly forever for everything I buy, skipping the Game Stop and Amazon and every place else — to support a smaller store. Unfortunately, that smaller store failed to step up and hold up their end of the bargain today. I bought a cable which I didn’t know came in unusably short lengths like what Game Champ sold me, so I took it back. I would have been happy to get the value of the cable in store credit but they told me they would only buy it back for pennies on the dollar. I’d bought it the previous day, the clerk remembered me. It was a twelve dollar item, I pointed out that I’d spent over $ 120 in the store that month alone — but no dice. And on top of that, the slightly-damaged-from-opening-it box went to very-damaged when the clerk tore the lid all the way off to look at the cable. So: I won’t be going back here. They’ve paid back my many hundreds of dollars of custom by refusing to take back an item that’s probably three dollars wholesale. I can only hope that the owner reads this and points out to his helpers that old men who come in and buy lots of games probably aren’t trying to rip you off by returning a nickle gimmick. But: You should go here instead of the Gamestop. Just don’t expect them to do you any favors or to especially value you as a customer. Ignore: That Amazon would have happily exchanged the cable and probably thrown in an HDTV for my imagined troubles.

There’s no need to give a billion dollar corporation in Park Slope more money with Game Champ adjacent to GameStop. This shop is way better anyway, in terms of selection and staff. Used goods and new goods alike, and everything is fine condition. The staff is filled with regular people and video gamers like you and I, and not some drones looking to provide. I’d recommend any Game Champ shop to anyone looking for good service and a proper selection.

In the South Slope, there are two choices, nearly side by side, that both compete for your video game dollar. All things being equal, I generally go for Game Champ. The guys that work there are video game mavens, and are good about helping you with your purchase. They’re up to date on new game releases, will fix your old system, and have a plethora of games in store to choose from. They’ll even buy back your old games/system for credit. When you’re in the South Slope, you don’t have to go to GameStop. You have a local business alternative. Shop wisely.
