G and E Auto Repair

I was super uncomfortable here because the guy helping me decided it was cool to sexually harass me. He was clearly the owner and when he started it his employees followed suit. I will not be back.

I don’t remember having had such a terrible experience at another commercial establishment before to the point that this is the 1^st bad review I’ve ever even considered writing. I went in a couple of hours ago (5:10pm) to get a 15min photo inspection. I explicitly called earlier to ask what time the latest time was I could bring my car by because I knew I’d have to leave pretty early from work and the guy who answered the phone, and who seemed nice enough, told me to bring it by anytime before 5:30. Once I actually got there, I dealt with a guy named Manuel and he had absolutely the WORST attitude. He told me he didn’t do inspections after 5 but I explained that I called and asked. For the next 10 min he just shook his head at me clearly muttering/​complaining about me and/​or the person I talked to on the phone. After incoherently asking me for my information, I told him I had my insurance card on my phone and I could pull it up for him to which he rolled his eyes and threw a paper and pen on my car and told me to write it down. He then asked me to turn on the car to see the mileage. While the car is a 2011 model, it has barely been driven and so only has about 6500 miles on it. He however didn’t believe that and despite explaining to him that it’d been barely driven and that I couldn’t doctor the digitally-​tracked odometer, he essentially called me a liar until another guy who worked there came over and confirmed that I was correct. Finally, after he was done, he told me to sign the handheld device used to document the inspection and when I asked to see what I was signing his response was «shit…then come back tomorrow morning. If you don’t sign it, you don’t get a report.» I asked him if he would at least briefly tell me what he’d documented and he just walked away, continuing to mutter what I imagine to be obscenities about me. He was egregiously rude the entire time and it really ruined the rest of my day. Between my sisters, brother in law, and myself, we have 4 cars around the area which we get detailed regularly but this place will never see that business and if this was the last auto repair place in a 100mile radius, I’d rather let my car slowly die than go back there again. Luckily that is not the case and there are plenty of other options around so unless you masochistically enjoy feeling horrible, I would really really recommend not going here!

This shop did great body and mechanical work after I damaged my front end. Gus was helpful and honest. i will be using them again.

Please beware of this place! We took our Jeep here for an inspection and they left the vice grips on a hose that controls the pressure in the gas tank. I’m guessing so that we would not pass the inspection and come back to let them rip us off. Little did they know that I’m from Tennessee and have been working and driving in Jeeps from the age of 14! I went to get gas the next day and when the tank spit out gas in my face, I knew something was wrong. I look under the jeep and there were the vice grips… So perfectly «left» on the right spot to fuck us. I guess they thought we were a bunch of «idiot hipsters» that wouldn’t recognize a bunch of shady assfucks. If you don’t want to dish out a shit ton of money for shit that doesn’t need fixed … Then go somewhere else. This place is just asking for a lawsuit.

I stopped in for an estimate on body repair and a flat tire. Great price and friendly staff.

Just picked up my car today and it looks brand new. I’m so happy with the work that was done! Gus and his team are awesome, I highly recommend this place!

Don’t go here if you need a NYS inspection.
First off if you are not Latin, expect to wait for anyone that speaks Spanish to go before you. Anyways 2 hours later inspection passed but since the mechanic hooked up the computer wrong they couldn’t give me the sticker. He charged me full price and I had to get the car inspected else where (where it passed without a problem).

i found them through the NY DMV website because I forgot my inspection was expired and i had already gotten a ticket. I called up, the girl was really nice and told me the cost and that there was enough time to come in today. Everyone was pretty pleasant including the owner. Was in and out in 45 minutes. There was a person ahead of me. I passed my inspection, all was great!
I’ve used their car wash before and they do a great job too.

Take this for what it’s worth as all I had done here was a photo inspection.
I had one done last year somewhere else. The guy was rude, condescending, dismissive, insisted I stay inside while he inspect it, then insisted I sign it saying I’d reviewed it, before he’d let me review it. Come to find out he reported a spot of dirt on the bumper as damage, then refused to do anything about it & told me not to worry about it.
The insurance inspection done at G&E was great. I was there with him the whole time, answering questions, showing him the mileage, and when I asked to see the report before I signed, he went back to the first page & let me review it. Much nicer about it.
Their lot was small, cramped, and crowded, but that’s about par for the course in town. The lot looked new, and they have a waiting room with air conditioning.

This place is on point! I have a 2001 Explorer with over 200K miles and it needed new wheel hub, tie rods and rear brakes done. I also had the tires rotated and NYS inspection. They knocked it all out in one day! It included a free car wash, but it was crazy busy, so I took a pass for a free wash another day.
I would definitely recommend this place and plan on going back for all my future car repairs.

Very speedy! I needed to get my vehicle inspects on a Saturday. Other places were booked up, but G&E got me in and inspected within an hour. Highly recommended

I’ve had a car in NYC for about 5 years and I’ve taken my car to a few places. Now, I only take it here. They’re honest, they’re fair, and they’re fast.
Benji is awesome– always goes out of his way to take care of my car.
So many of these places can screw their customers, so trust is a huge thing. Trust these guys! Never taking my car anywhere else!
Now, if I could just get those damn meter maids to stop giving me parking tickets, I wouldn’t completely regret having a car. *sigh*

I have an old Camry 1991 model. I found G&E randomly even though it is very close to where I leave. I find them faster and less expensive than other shops in the area. They seem honest, After the repair they show me the parts they changed and clearly list everything that has been done. The mechanics speak Spanish, but Wilson translates and tell them what to do. They also do repairs on Saturdays and Sundays and the job is usually done within the day or early afternoon next day. I am happy with the service and their estimates are pretty accurate.

I honestly dont know what you all are taking about. This is THE worst service I have ever gotten for my car. I just got my oil chnaged last week there and Im already at 10% fuel life? Not to mention the car wash was sad and sorry. If you love your car dont go here its like taking a date to White Castle.

Been going to G & E Auto repair for over 3 yrs and I have never had a problem.
They save the broken/​damaged part they change, so I can see it when I come back to pick up my car.
Also, they always try to find the best price for the parts and they let me know if it’s generic or not. (That is honest, because I wouldn’t be able to tell)

After reading reviews on Unilocal today I went to G & E to have my flat fixed. I was nervous that they’d try to get me to buy new tires, but the man who helped me was very professional and fixed my flat in half an hour… on a Sunday!
The one problem was that the mechanic didn’t speak English and I was unable to communicate with him thoroughly myself. The cashier was able to translate for me.
Very pleased with the quick and friendly service. Will return for future auto repairs.

Truly a good/​fair mechanic! My roommate referred me to this shop and I was very happy with the service I received.
Everyone was very friendly and honest. I know its tough to find a good mechanic, but I will definitely return to this place in the future.
Repairs didn’t take too long and they ran through all the repairs so I could understand. Great place.

I found G & E via Unilocal so I thought I’d just add to the good review, as I’ve just recently had a good experience.
Gus is really friendly and he made sure everything was taken care of on my car. The price seemed really reasonable… I always find mechanics slightly intimidating in that I’m not always sure if I’m getting a fair price.
In this case, they fixed something on my Honda Civic similar to a problem I had before that another mechanic had fixed, and here they charged me MUCH less but did virtually the same job. They were quick and really kind, and the people who worked there seemed pretty happy, which in my book is always a good sign. And they’re open 7 days a week.

I first came here to get my NYS inspection done on my car. The reason I will return is because of Benjamin!
His friendly and helpful service makes me feel like I’m not being swindled because I’m a woman, which is something I have encountered at other auto repair shops. I got new tires for what seems like a reasonable price and when I got a flat soon after (not because of the quality of the tires, but because my street always has junk all over it and a nail punctured the tire), he fixed it for free (first time is free, he said).
I will definitely return to have my volvo serviced. I think they do a lot of work on imports, too.
