I recently visited this store everything was great except for the people at the counter the girl who work the register was very rude and nasty

Thank you so much for sending me my Grana Padana cheese from Amazon. I’m in heaven. I used to drive to Brooklyn from anywhere some point 160 miles round trip for my Italian goodies. Quality was great, packaged perfect and shipped fast.

I was dying for Portuguese Salted Cod and after looking for some stores here in SF I decided to search at Amazon and I saw Frank’s Cod.
Its my second time ordering directly from SF. Just loving it

I was racking my brain trying to figure out where to order food for my son’s first birthday. I drive by Frank and Sal’s almost everyday when I pick up my oldest from school so I decided to try it out. This place did not fail me. The linguine with white clam sauce was yums with lots of clams. Also ordered chicken parm, eggplant rollatini, baked ziti, sausage and peppers, and string beans with garlic and oil. Everything was delish! I found my new go to spot when I need to cater.

This place is awesome! They carry lots of Italian food products that you don’t find elsewhere (unless you go to Italy). I love coming here especially to buy cheese.

When you can’t find it in the supermarket you go to your local salumeria; when you can’t find it in your local salumeria you go to Frank & Sal’s. Examples of the elusive items they carry are buffalo mozzarella and imported Italia tuna. My favorite is guanciale, cured pork jowl, which has a deeper flavor than pancetta and is the favored base for amatriciana and carbonara sauces. For a pretty compact place they pack quite a selection, including numerous brands of pasta and a huge deli lineup. Prices on the whole are reasonable. Some products, like said tuna, are getting outrageous but most, like imported Parmesan, compare favorably with other salumerias. The neighborhood is now virtually all Chinese so I imagine the core clientele are folks who moved away but come back to shop. This has been the worst winter in decades but I’ve managed to make the long walk a couple of times recently. Well worth the trip.

Fresh mozzarella, brick oven bread, parma prosciutto, imported mortadella, eggplant caponata, frozen rabbit, Franks and Sal’s olive oil, bushels of tomato’s for homemade sauce, provolone, Grana Padana, anchovies, olives, large red grapes, figs, pasta, Italian soda and teas, lamb sausage, ect., etc., ect… OMG I landed in the best Italian deli in Brooklyn.

Never a disappointment. All the prepared foods are always fresh and delicious. Very large variety of Italian products that you don’t find anywhere else. Produce, meats and cheeses are to numerous to mention, but very fresh and tasty. I have had a few parties catered from them and everything was always good and my family always asks where I ordered from. Great at holiday time too. Just get your order in early, it get super busy.

Great selection of macaroni and everything imported. The sliced meats and the butcher counter do a great job. For me, it’s the selection of cheeses and imported meats. For some reason their Parma prosciutto tastes better than other places, and they slice and package it the right way.

I went to this store for the ingredients to make a caprese salad. At the deli counter, I asked the man for his recommendation on mozzarella. He pointed to basket full of mozzarella balls and informed me they are made fresh everyday. Then, he sent me on way with a «Ciao Bella.» I was impress that this store sells fresh basil. Everything here looks authentic. $ 1.29 for a bunches of basil, $ 8.07 for a pound of mozzarella.

Frank and Sal’s is a terrific grocery store.
«Prime Meats» is a bit misleading, because it makes you think of Faicco’s, which is the platonic ideal of a pork store, and which has the best sopressata in the universe. I got a well-​butchered steak here, cut to order, but the calling card here isn’t the meat counter.
It’s the grocery essentials. From Tabu grani di liquiriria to those Euro-​shaped bottles of Fanta to those awesome stale, semi-​sweet cookies that have your wife convinced you have no taste… it’s just like being in Ischia. Except, I guess, that people in Ischia don’t wear so much velour. And I bet an Escalade costs a pretty penny over there.

Excellent local spot for Italian food. A lot of the customers are the fake-​Brooklyn-​Italians who think they speak the language when they really don’t. My main issue with this place is that the cashiers are always texting/​instagramming/​facebooking. It’s a sign of the times but I would hope that their managers would enforce a no-​cell-​phone-​while-​there-​are-​customers-​in-​line policy.

Fresh cheeses are made daily and are a treat to eat!

This joint is fresh to death. Everything I’ve gotten from them is excellent. Rib eye steak like it was almost right from the cow in the back. Butchering is exceptional with varied cheeses and outstanding scamorza. Walnuts were so fresh and not one bad nut was found in the sack! Good food costs money but prices are comparable to others like it and you are guaranteed excellent tasting, fresh food.

This place is effing legit. Italian neighborhood staple that makes quality a non-​negotiable.
Their prosciutto de parm rendered anywhere else unacceptable. You’ve got a loyal fan in me.

This place is like heaven to me. When i see a butcher come out carrying an entire slaughtered lamb, excitement runs through my veins. Not in a Hannibal Lechter kind of way. In a «holy shit, real butchers still exist!» kind of way.
Got my meat for Easter here and it was a great experience. Their prices are beyond fair, they’ve got a huge selection of rare Italian products that I LOVE, and everyone is super helpful and kind. My new fave place.

If your looking for some Imported Italian Specialty Foods and Grocery then look no further .your looking for some really good strong Italian coffee or espresso a particular cut of meat, handpicked Tuna or sweets they we have it all. The amount of meats, produce, cheese and bread is just crazy for such a small store its just great that they pack everything in here but it looks so clean and kept in great condition .
They do catering of hot foods, big party hero’s, cheese and cold cut platters and they are so reasonable priced. my next party will be catered by them. Everyone in the store is so friendly and helpful i was looking for a specific cut of meat for my husband couldn’t remember the name but the butcher knew exactly what i needed and the name of it lol. they also sell sandwiches antipasti and they have pretty good fried raviolis and rice balls .
So from now on i will be buying all my meats here everything looked so fresh and there prices are excellent for the quality of meat your buying. super excited that its on only 2 blocks away from home. I Love they have a butcher on staff super nice and knows his meats lol. Big bonus they deliver and if you need a quick catering for a few friends who can place a order before 3 pm and have a whole meal delivered to you unlike other places you need to give them a one or two day notice lol .
Frank and Sal’s prime meats made me a happy camper today lol. cant wait to come back to do some more meat shopping lol. its just the little things that make me happy lol

I don’t know why people here compare Frank & Sal’s to Whole Foods, its very specifically an Italian specialty store that does sell some produce (not organic, but at really good prices). You can get Italian soda and so many kinds of cookies, things hard to find outside of Italy. Many kinds of dried and fresh pastas, beautiful things like Sicilian capers in sea salt (amazing with scrambled eggs!!) and even these Italian black licorice candies that I am addicted to. You can get semolina flour to make your own pasta, or zeppole mix, little pastinas my mom used to make me as a kid, you can’t get that stuff anywhere, even at Whole Paycheck.
But what I love most are the meats and cheeses, like five kinds of prosciutto, sweet and spicy sausages, several provolones and the fresh mozzarella is the best in the universe! Warm, milky and freshly made, you can get it smoked and unsalted too. Grated parmesan is CHEAP, a huge container is only a couple dollars. The deli counter has amazing dishes like sauteed broccoli rabe with garlic and oil, perfectly made, plus the standard rollatinis, salads, whatever they are making that day. Its all delicious. People order and speak in Italian here, its totally charming. And I love seeing Latino and Arabic women in headscarves in here too, getting all that good stuff with their little kids. God, I love Bensonhurst.
Get your bread at the bakery down the street on 18^th Ave. though, its fresher :).

We hired Frank & Sal’s to cater my grandfather’s 90^th birthday… this was going to be a massive gathering of old-​school Brooklyn Italians, some of whom have moved away and lament not being able to get this or that where they are now, so I knew we had to get the food *right* and we did!
We ordered way too much, but… eh, whatever. Everything was delicious… people especially went nuts over the rice balls and croquettes; I guess you don’t see those around as much anymore. Sausage and peppers did not skimp on the sausage at all — and do they make their own? It was so tasty. Oricchette pasta was al dente, broccoli rabe perfect. Chicken marsala was great, tons of mushrooms. I never got to taste the baked ziti, but people nommed it down, so I guess that was good too.
We got a coffee urn and it came with three giant bottles of milk — whole, skim, 2%, some heavy cream, some half and half, and two bottles of non-​dairy creamer. (seriously, we’re left with so much extra milk that it’s like we just bought groceries and the coffee was free!) They also delivered cups, spoons, and, like, several pounds of sugar and some sweet n low. Salad came with two bottles of dressing and a container of oil and vinigar. Bread was thrown in gratis.
The guy who delivered the food was early, but not inconveniently so, and he was SO nice, and set everything up perfectly, lit the sternos, etc.
No trouble returning the coffee urn and chafing stands to get my deposit back — in cash.
Could not have been better.
I’m just sad we don’t live near this place or I’d be in there all the time for salami and whatnot.
Oh, they do pastries too, but we ordered from Savarese for that because that’s where we have always gotten our pastries from.

Their selection of BBQable items is huge, I saw so many types of sausage, sausage pinwheels, hamburger meats, and patties, and all kinds of other meats, ready to be BBQ’d to perfection. I’ve never wandered in here until now, and will be stopping in much more often.
