Frames on L

Great place.
I’ve been here twice and Eric and Toby are really helpful, patient and informative when making decisions about mats, framing, etc. Friendly and fast, too. Looking forward to doing more business with them!

I gave this store a call about stretching a canvas print I bought online. They were very dismissive/​condescending in general. I asked for a price quote and he hung up, saying «we don’t sell inexpensive frames» when I asked if they could merely stretch my print on simple bars.

Thanks to the nice people at Frames on L for helping me out of a jam with a personal framing project. I popped in for the first time today and was helped out with selecting D-​rings and screws to mount my frames.

Eric was very professional and was eager to know where my poster was from. It was expensive for a young man as myself but i had full faith he would care for my piece and itd be done well! I was so pleased to unwrap it once i got home it came out stunning! A+

Eric is awesome. He is personable, knowledgeable, and an expert in his craft. He was especially accommodating, willing to work with me on options and price, and on an aggressive deadline — and I think I actually got upgraded so that the framing was truly the best quality, which I seriously appreciate and really should have thanked him for. Top-​notch professionalism. I will be back for future framing needs!

I bloody love Eric and his vibe, work ethic and honesty. I’ve had 4 photos framed — every time it’s a knockout and for every consultation he offers a cheaper, same-​quality frame option. Also, the stuff he has framed in his awesome store are badass!

I just had a bad ass experience with these guys.
I recently moved, and my movers broke the glass in several frames, and then completely destroyed the frame of a large piece (28×40).
I took the 4 pieces into frames on L for new glass. 3 for new glass, and a complete new frame job on the big one. And they did an OUTSTANDING job. The new frame looks great, is solid, and they packaged it in a way where I was easily able to carry a VERY large, bulky piece home.
Working with Eric was a pleasure, he brings out lots of options, has great suggestions, and really takes an interest in working on your piece.
Timing it took about 3 weeks for all of it to be done.
The other complaints about timing I’ve read seem bonkers (and actually quite petty) compared to the experience I’ve had. I’ve had a shit-​ton of things framed in different places/​shops recently, and in my experience 2 – 3 weeks is not abnormal. For certain pieces, if they find they have to order more for it, I’ve had things take up to 5 weeks. (That’s at my regular shop where I used to live, not this one). This shit takes time, sometimes you have to order more of a frame, or whatever. Look, if you’re bugging out about something, makes more sense to just call and ask for an update.
The other is people are pissed they were texted, and not called for a pickup. When I was in the shop, it was made very clear that they’d text me when they were ready, unless i wanted an email. That also seemed like weird, petty thing to get pissed about.
The only thing i’ll say is prices are a bit on the high side, but my POV could maybe be off coming from LA where everything in the world seems to be like 35% cheaper. But again, outstanding work, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

Used them a few times… always really overpriced and took FOREVER to get something back. Last time I went the job was so bad it was comical. I dont ant to link to other framers but a quick Unilocal search and you can find much better options.

These guys did a fantastic job on a photo I had matted there. Great attention to detail and really nice staff. Even if seems a little expensive at first, I’d say it’s worth every penny.

Erik is the jam. We contracted him to do our boy band posters. Not only did he do a stellar job, but he consulted us through the process and contributed to the design. I highly recommend this place.

I am a serial return customer of frames on L. I have had everything framed or hung by Erik. And the service and quality of work is amazing. It is a very quality shop. And I have used many. If it’s in the north east I have it framed there.
I have had normal posters framed. I have had extremely expensive art work framed which were then shown in major galleries. Erik made a custom wood and aluminum frame to stretch a very important 8×10 canvas. He hand delivered it, stretched it, and then even came back a week later to re-​stretch it once it settled. It was a complex job because of previous irregularities and if it wasn’t for Erik it wouldn’t have turned out as perfect as it is now. Erik was also put in charge of a 12 part project for band. A two part series with 6 editions of each piece. He was instrumental and those pieces are now enjoyed around the world. They included mounting records or tapes, labels that he designed and attached to them, and commemorative plaques. The job was impeccable.
I will use them again and again and again. If you want quality work done for museum quality pieces, or just a poster framed, use frames on L.

I think the work they do is fantastic and they’ve always been incredibly friendly, professional and responsive. The turn around time is fast and accurate, and the prices are terrific for the high quality. I will always come here first.

Saw the reviews and ignored them… now I regret it. Do NOT go here. Slow service and they damaged my art.
Brought in two pieces and was told they’d take 2 weeks. Ultimately it took 3 weeks for one and was told the other frame was scratched and needed to be redone. One week later I get it back…
The mattes were off center, the art was poorly placed in the matte, and there was a scratch on one of the frames. I explain this to Eric, and he tells me it’ll take a week to correct. When I ask him how long it would «really» take, he explained that all their jobs take 3 – 4 weeks. He offered a complete refund and to return my art back to me. I accepted because I didn’t want to deal with it. but this means it took 4 weeks for me to start all over again with the framing process. Argggg.
When I take the art to get framed elsewhere I noticed sharpie marks on the front… Looks like my art was drawn on to help center the mattes/​frames. ARGGGGG!!!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The work turned out great. They poster framed a poster for me.
Was very friendly and helped me find something i liked within my budget.
I see a lot of reviews commenting on the unexpected length of time for framing. I can’t lie the job was a little longer than expected. But I was in no rush and wasn’t bothered.
The end result is great.

I am very pleased with the beautiful job Eric did with my picture. It took a little longer than I’d hoped, but that is SO not important. Eric helped me out and gave me a discount for cash and my picture looks great.
I’m a fan.

SHADY UNSCRUPULOUS AND INCOMPETENT!
The work on display in the store is truly top notch but what you actually get is extremely late over the estimated time of completion, poorly measured, poorly mounted, incorrect materials, crooked images, and worst of all totally passive-​agressive and condescending treatment by the staff when clearly they are at fault. Totally overpriced and poor quality work. Absolutely horrible attitude and work ethic. I would never recommend them to anyone.
They do not handle your items carefully and there are things I cannot mention on this website that would probably get me sued.
Do not bring anything to them especially anything of value that may have resale potential or that is part of a numbered limited edition.
You will regret ever doing business with these truly screwed up individuals. I wish I could give zero stars.

It was only when i was walking by this store today that I remembered my horrible experience with Erik at «Frames on L» and decided to write this review. My story is the same as the others on here so how does he stay in business?!
He quoted me 2 weeks, wouldn’t return my calls or emails when the 2 weeks had passed, finally begged for two more weeks because he was «out of town» then wouldn’t call me back. After a month of chasing him I came to the store and he told me he hadn’t started the pieces yet. His lack of service is completely unacceptable. I finally got my two simple frame jobs after 2 months. He delivered them to me and gave me $ 25 off (a drop in the bucket for the $ 500 frame job) but I learned my lesson and will never use him again. I suggest you don’t waste your time.

Terrible service and top dollar prices earns this place one star. I gave them 2 weeks to frame something for me, an old picture for my mother for christmas. They said it’d be done in four days. I came back a week later, they’d completely forgotten about it and I had to give them the specs all over again. Said it’d be done in two days.
Called them in two days and they had no idea what I was talking about. Gave them the specs a third time, and when I finally showed up to claim it, it wasn’t done. «I’ll do it right now, real quick!» he told me. No, please take your time, this is important, I told him again. He ended up taking ten bucks off the price, which was absolutely not worth the hassle and stress of nagging them to do a simple framing job.

One year later… the images weren’t affixed very well to the mats and they have all warped or fallen inside the frame. I called to ask about having it fixed and having another image framed (because I’m a moron?) and dude didn’t call me back.
Uh, no.

This guy has the WORST work ethic. He will NOT finish jobs on time. He will NOT care or express remorse.
It’s a crime that this business actually has 3.5 stars on Unilocal as of now… i don’t know why the five ONE-​STAR reviews have been filtered… I guess he bought advertising from Unilocal or something. Read those filtered reviews to get a more accurate portrayal of this horrendously-​run business.
