I have had a bunch of stuff framed here — original art, signed prints, 3-​dimensional stuff and they are always excited to help and very approachable. There is no upselling, though they are not shy about suggesting what might work well. I currently have 3 pieces waiting to pick up, and this is literally the only place I go anymore. Pricing is great, too!

I bought a living social for $ 100 worth of framing at only $ 50. So I just drove to the store, with kids in tote unfortunately. The store is next to a porn/​sex store and after explaining why the the mannequins next door are dressed the way they are, got to the store. Beautiful art inside and I am sure they can meet my framing needs. However, the young kid working the front tells me there is a long wait. I ask if I can make an appointment, since I have kids with me and this is not the place kids should hang out too long in — delicate work everywhere, and more nude prints, btw. He says they dont make appointments. I couldn’t get an estimate from the framer though, just the kid who tells me it seems like 30 minutes. After 10 minutes of waiting, I tell him I will come back and then, advised by a framer probably to keep me waiting, says its more like 10 minutes left. Very frustrated, that there are others needing help and only 2 framers helping people, I leave. Called living social to get a refund. If Sundays are busy, please allow people to make appointments. Would rather pay more and not have to wait half an hour minimum.

For most of us, framing is a task that we want to leave to others. I felt that way a few weeks ago and ventured out to a couple of frame shops. The only one that deserves mention is Frame It In Brooklyn. The service is attentive and professional and both the owner and one of the Frame Assistants (Andres) are sincere and informative. I was not left to walk alone and figure out what to do. In the end, I was very satisfied with the service and the recommendation of the frame. The quote for framing (tax, and glass/​acrylic) was competitive with the other stores. However, but for a convincing colleague’s suggestion that I go online and do the framing myself, I would have returned for framing.
PS. I ordered online (from a totally different vendor) for something similar, but not as nice as FrameIt, I did my own framing with UV/​Acrylic and acid free backing and for less than half the quote given by FrameIt, However, like I said, most of us would like the framing to be done by others… and you pay for that professional service.

I went there recently to frame an original print made by an artist-​friend of mine; she was also there to help me find the right frame. I got there about 10 minutes before my friend did, so I wander around to look at their frames – they have a huge selection. Jerry (the owner, from what I can see here) came over, introduced himself, and asked if I needed help. I told him that I was waiting for my friend, and that the woman who let me in directed me to ask for Paula. He goes and get Paula. Paula and I start talking about what I’m looking for, soon after my friend arrives.
I’m talking to Paula and tell her the budget I’m working with; she starts pulling frames. Meanwhile, Jerry is talking to my friend about her work, and at one point rudely admonishes her for cutting him off (which she actually didn’t). She took it in stride, but I was angry FOR HER. Totally unacceptable behavior for a business owner.
Getting to the heart of the matter: I was underwhelmed with the frames that were shown to me. And even with that, the least expensive price I was quoted was around $ 150 w/​o tax (for an 18″ x 24″ piece). I’ll concede that I underestimated how much the framing would cost; the last thing I had framed professionally was a newspaper photo in 2008. But for that price I expected to have a more robust choice of frames. While all of this is happening, Jerry is hovering on the side, bellowing out what he thinks is the best choice. At this point, I’m thoroughly annoyed with him (but Paula was helpful and VERY nice).
Even my friend the artist was not impressed, with the frames or with Jerry. She suggested we try another frame shop. And I’m glad she did; I found the PERFECT frame for the art at a place in Park Slope for about $ 175. More than what I was expecting to pay: yes. But if I’m going to spend $$ then I want something that’s going to knock me out, not something I’m «meh» about.
What’s weird is that it was all of the 4– and 5-​star reviews here on Unilocal that convinced me to go to Frame It in the first place. As someone who’s had many good experiences with framers, my encounter with Frame It in Brooklyn was pretty fail.

I am a painter and had two paintings selected for an exhibition on short notice. And I had no way to transport these rather large stretched canvases. I called «Frame It In Brooklyn» and explained my dilemma. They were very nice. The owner, Jerry, even agreed to pick up my work and deliver it back to my studio in Sunset Park free of charge. I selected the framing from their web site I just got the work back and it looks great! I would not hesitate to use this framer again. I highly recommend them for the quality of their work and their excellent service.

I was looking to frame… hmm, let’s just say, an unusual 3-​dimensional piece as a wedding gift, and called a few places. As soon as I contacted Frame It, I knew they were where I was going. The person on the phone was very positive, enthusiastic, and friendly, ensuring me that the job could be done quickly (a 25% rush fee applies if you want it in a week, which I was willing to pay) and well. When I brought in the piece, I was greeted with awesome service that helped me choose a frame, background, and setting. I gave them artistic licence to mount it as they saw fit, and they did a great job with it! And while framing overall isn’t cheap, relative to other places I priced, their fees were very reasonable.
The piece turned out great, and was wrapped securely so I could transport it safely to the wedding.
If I have any framing needs in the future, I’ll be turning to Frame It In Brooklyn. Amazing service, great selection, decent prices. Overall, a great experience (who knew I’d say something like that about getting something framed?!)!

So I just finished my first experience with «Frame it in Brooklyn» and it will not be my last! What an amazing experience from start to finish. I had a map I wanted framed as a gift, and the first time I went in Scott helped me — and he was awesome! He took so much time to help me pick things out. I got a call about a week later that my frame had been discontinued, so I went back to look around some more — this time John helped me and he was just as awesome! He took so much time to help me pick out exactly what I wanted and made sure to give me lots of options. I ended up liking the second frame I picked way better! I went in today to pick up my finished piece and I am IN LOVE with it — I did not think I would ever be so excited about framing a map… The whole experience was great and I plan on going back soon to get more stuff done. The price was really great and the quality of the work was top notch! Thanks guys!

This is my new favorite frame shop. They carry a LOT of frames, have a much faster turnaround than other places in the neighborhood, and very competitive prices. I walked in off the street and was assigned to Aimee. She was so patient with me (for over an hour) while I decided what frame and mat was just right for an antique watercolor. I am definitely returning when I need more framing.

These guys did a great job mounting and framing very large size photographs, Visitors often ask me who did the framing.
They are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Minus one star as they need longer opening hours; past five o’clock on weekdays and extended weekend hours would be good.

This is a very reasonably priced framer, and also a great place to buy posters and prints. When I say reasonably priced, I don’t mean cheap quality – you get the same great care you need for the more valuable works. (Can’t speak about rare museum quality works, just medium-​valuable). Only reason for four stars is that I haven’t pushed them to the limit with a very valuable piece.
It looks like they frame on site, which is important as well. I’ve seen middle-​men places that overcharge then outsource the framing.
Ask the owner about his favorite prints/​posters for sale, and he’ll gladly show you cool stuff you didn’t realize was there.
Hands down a great Brooklyn business.

They took the time and trouble to make sure the piece was framed perfectly and that I was happy with the process and result. Very reasonably priced too. I recommend them without reservation.

At this point, merely by looking at the starred reviews associated with Frame it In Brooklyn, you can assume that it’s a great shop. And it is. Like most things that are good, it starts with the people.
I worked with Jon a couple of times now, and he does a great job of laying out what he thinks might work and then providing you with options. The tables are wide enough where you can lay out the artwork and imagine what a certain frame would look like. Once you’ve chosen what you want, the price is calculated, a deposit is paid, and you’re free to go about the rest of the day.
I am not a framing expert and I don’t plan to become one. So the criteria for a frame shop is to not be ripped off and receive quality work in return for my money. Frame it in Brooklyn fulfills both qualities tremendously.

Incredible service and quality, shocking prices (in the good way), and a huge space to get lost in for hours (if you like looking at every type of frame imaginable). I’m already trying to find something else in my apartment that could possibly be framed just so I can use their amazing services again.

I went to Frame It to replace a piece of 18×24 glass that had broken. Scott, one of the sales associates at the store was super friendly and offered to have the glass cut while I waited. I was running late for an appointment in Greenpoint and didn’t want to drag the frame with glass all the way there and back to Sunset Park so he said I could pick it up anytime before 5pm.
I came back at 4:45 and the glass had been cut and installed. The frame was wrapped and ready to go. The guys at the shop also cleaned the frame for me (it was quite dusty).
Anyway, I plan to use their services again and highly recommend others do so!

«is someone helping you, young fella?» said Jerry Greenberg, the owner as he continued to help another customer. Of course I was being helped — this is ‘Frame it in Brooklyn’, not some inattentive, overpriced frame shop in Manhattan, or even Park Slope.
I don’t frame much, but I couldn’t imagine a framing experience getting much better than this. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to accommodate your order in ways that you won’t anticipate.
I came in two days before Christmas with every intention of getting my order after the holiday. «Nah, let’s get this for you by tomorrow. It’ll be ready first thing in the morning,» said Scott, the quintessential Brooklynite and framing master, who has dedicated his life and career to this important and sometimes overlooked craft. Indeed, the order was ready first thing the next day. On top of that, they threw in some framing hooks and a few other goodies, free, all without me asking for a thing.
The price can’t be beat, either. I’ve heard horror stories of other framing stores in the area charging double for the same type of work. Why on earth anyone would choose to go to one of those places over this one is beyond me.
Anyway, if you need something framed, go here and rest assured that you’ve made the best choice.

We went to Frame It after picking up a Groupon and were shocked that we had somehow missed a frame shop so close to our apartment. Turns out its easy to miss-​Frame It is located along the sketchy industrial corridor that is 3rd Ave, on the second floor of an unfriendly looking brick building. You’ll have to ring to get in, but if they don’t answer during business hours just give them a phone call and they’ll let you up.
The shop is fully stocked, if a little cluttered, and pleasant. We had an excellent experience with the young woman who works there, who not only didn’t hassle us about using our groupons at the same time, but gave us great art direction and price advice. My large, signed, Obey poster was framed in an elegant light mahogany frame and matted for under $ 200. We got two other pieces matted and two large glass replacements. All the work was immaculate.
Frame It offers the most reasonable prices in a practically universally expensive market. They also know their stuff and will give you a beautiful piece without an aggressive sales pitch. I could’ve hugged the woman who helped us for not trying to explain to me how stupid it would be not to opt for the expensive museum glass, thank you!

Framing is expensive, and I priced out several stores before a friend suggested Frame It in Brooklyn. I took my three posters to them, and they charged me almost half as much as the other frramers checked-​out.
But maybe even more importantly, even while being less expensive, their work is top-​notch, and probably better than most. I asked them to trim one poster, and they did it perfectly. They use heavy-​duty and durable materials, including reinforced hanging systems. And for the record, I went with the least expensive options — no framing bells and whistles.
They also had the job completed in less than two weeks while some of the other places I went said it would take them two-​to-​three.
The only slight drawback is location, but it’s actually relatively convenient, only a block-​and-​a-​half from the R train.
I can’t recommend them enough. I’m not a framing expert nor have I investigated every frame shop in New York City, so I’m not going to claim that they’re the absolute best there is. But, if you’re looking for a relatively affordable framing solution, then give them a try.
