Fluffy’s Laundromat & Dry Cleaning

Wow, I’m in shock these guys stay open.
We usually use a place around the corner, but it’s the dreaded haul at least 4x a week back and forth with my toddler in tow because they don’t have pick up/​delivery. So, we noticed this place– Fluffy’s– cute name, a couple blocks from our place. It said .49 a lb, with p/​u and delivery. HELL YES. Wait. That sounds too good to be true.
BECAUSE IT IS.
Everything the previous reviewer said is completely believable after my one and only experience here. Basically, it went like this;
I drop off first load of laundry. It measures differently 3x. She says it’s 27 lbs, and hands me a ticket that says it’ll be $ 30. My father says that’s over a $ 1.00 a lb, that’s not right. I agree. We are having trouble communicating as we do not speak the same language, so she calls her husband. Husband arrives, and insists his wife is correct, and weighs my clothes at 28#. He then finally folds after pressure and pulls out a calculator, and comes up with $ 22.00. We ask why it’s not $ 17, which is what we calculated. He says the first 10# is $ 10 because people bring in a tiny amount of laundry (like 6#) and it’s not worth running the machine for $ 3.00. I understand that– but I’m bringing in far more than the 10#, I have almost 30#, and I’m a brand new potential customer. He also charges me to use a «separate washer» TWICE at $ 1.50, because I brought some new clothes in (10#, not alot.) So, in the end, we agreed at $ 25, easily double what I pay at my usual place. I know we got jipped though, as we should not have had to pay for that $ 10 surcharge as we did not bring in a tiny amount of laundry and waste their time, plus, there was a mystery $ 3 on there for some reason. Even with the $ 3.00 of separate washers and the $ 10 for first 10# charge, it should have been $ 22, not $ 25. I decided to let it be, and see how it turned out.
an hour later I realized I forgot a pair of new shoes in the bag. I call. I ask that they set them aside and not wash them. He asks me why there were shoes folded up in the laundry. (there wasn’t, it was a new bag straight from century 21, in a separate bag) in a slightly irritated tone. I said «I just forgot them.» Well, they’d already been washed. Oh well, that was my fault.
Then the next day, the delivery did not come between 4 – 5 as we had agreed (5x). So I call at 6:09, getting a little freaked out. She answers, and in broken english says her son is delivering it «now.» I live literally 2 short blocks away. It takes 6 min to walk slowly from door to door. So when 28 min pass, I call again. She is a little irritated this time. «He’s coming, he’s carrying laundry!» I’m thinking… Come on. He’s got a cart, he’s not carrying anything, and unless someone’s lying or lost, something’s not right. More time passes. I’m literally standing in the street scanning the corners for him. Nothing. I look them up on Unilocal and find the previous review and almost faint.
Then he comes. He’s of course, pulling a city cart easily. He’s friendly and when I ask him if he got lost, he smiled easily and said «I’m not lost, that’ll be $ 25.»
I pay him the $ 25 and a $ 3 tip for his trouble (it’s not his fault afterall, he’s a kid) as I’m just thankful to have my belongings. I take them up and find that they are all there, but they smell way too strong of soap and there’s an odd number written on the bag. I think it’s supposed to be my address. It says «7107.» I live at 574. And I went over this with all three of them three times, then on the phone before delivery three more times. The clothes were still soapy, it appears they use too much, so I’m going to have to wash them again. There was enough residue to coat my hands and irritate my eyes and nose, and that’s saying alot. Also, my son’s jeans were all wet. All in all, I was just happy to get my stuff back.
NEVER again, though.

50 cent a pound wash and fold with free pick up and delivery sounds amazing until they lose all your clothes. I had laundry picked up on Tuesday. When I called to have it deliver end Thursday they discovered that it was missing — they believe they delivered it to someone else. It is now Saturday afternoon and they’ve not located my laundry. At every point along the way, they have been rude and unprofessional. When I threatened to call the better business bureau, the owner told me tat if I did, he’d make sure I didn’t get my laundry back for a year.
Update — they never found my laundry. They refused to even attempt to call their other patrons, saying that if someone had my laundry they’d return it on their own. They never offered me any sort of compensation for my clothing either.
