Emil’s All Tire

The previous night, I had to call AAA for a battery boost. This morning, I brought the old beast to Emil’s All Tire and asked Ralph to check the battery if it needed a charge or replacement. Ralph remembered I purchased the battery from him, and he asked me when. I could not remember but he worked his magic by checking the bar code. I a few minutes, he advised me he was replacing the battery free of charge! I was in and out in less than half an hour!
This is why Emil’s is my Go-​To auto repair/​maintenance garage. I have been taking the beast to him for years because he is a trusted friend and performs good honest work. Ralph and his crew of renown are the best anywhere. Highly recommended!

Emil’s always has those hard to find performance tires in stock and ready to to mount. If you drive a BMW or Porsche in Brooklyn you will be replacing those tires constantly thanks to our roads. Ralph the owner will get you back on track with minimum fuss. Open on Sunday’s too which is a life saver.

Came in for a simple flat repair… Service was amazing!!! Really good people here… I was so impressed. The workers were courteous and helpful. Family run business. I have found my car repair place and it is called Emil’s … Great place!

Bernie Madoff was in business «servicing the community for 48 years» until his arrest. So your comment about servicing the community for 30 years is meaningless. Years have nothing to do with it. You know the expression — quality over quantity? Anyway, to answer your question, I brought in my car for service and was told by a short heavy set man smoking a cigar to wait 15 minutes. I stood there for 30 minutes and then asked how much longer it would be as I need to get back to work. He responded by saying «in 45 minutes». 1 hour afterwards, I was tired of standing around so I sat in my car. At that point, I was waiting for about 1.5 hours so I decided to sit in my car and I honked the horn. I then heard him say «this guy is gonna wait 10 minutes for each time he honks the horn». I drove away to another shop and was serviced within 20 minutes. I’m very glad that this site allows users to post honest negative reviews and allows customers to take their business to a place which provides clients with the service and integrity that clients come to expect. Often times, businesses can post responses to reviews in an effort to camoflage the situation — but consumers in today’s day and age are smart enough to not be fooled by such. In short, avoid this place at all costs! There are plenty of nearby places which provide not only good quality service but treat you as a human being in the way that you truly deserve to be treated.

Came in with my own tire and was told right away and without even touching the tire he says that tire looks no good i asked why and he started talking some crazy stuff how these tires are known to fail, whats his answer buy a tire from ME and it will be better! After thinking for just a minute a realized he doesnt know what he is talking about since i have the same brand/​style 4 tires and took them way past 50k on brooklyn roads! So i asked how much to just slap on the new tire and be on my way he said 30 minutes and 30 buks, pretty steep for a simple tire insall as i payed 40 $ previously for 2 tires at another location, so he said ill do it for 25 after i started my car and was getting ready to pull out… so a HOUR later im still waiting to be told it will be 5 more minutes, after 30 minutes i asked what was the major problem and they said we are working on it! 5 more minutes or so after that he comes out with the tires put in on and says 35 buks please, it was like he though i was mentally retarded and would not remember the conversation we had a hour ago, but after arguing he said ok took my credit card and gave me a written receipt for 25 $. 3 weeks later my bill says 35 $ charge on my visa card… now i disputed the transaction and thank god it was my only dispute in 5 year history so the credit card comapny sided with me and they lost everything for trying to charge extra 10 $

This Place Sucks… Took My Car There today (6÷13÷13) for a flat African Guy (John) took my tired to the shop. Told me the tired was Not good. They were selling me a tired for 160 and another one for 220. When I told him i was coming tomorrow after pay day he gave me the tire back. I went to queens to a tire shop to see if he can patch it. he told me Yes. When he put the tire in the water tank. Besides the Original Flat there was 5 more little holes on the tire that weren’t there when i took it to To Emil’s. i have to give it at one. wish i could had given him a –1.

I came in today to get my tires remounted and balanced. My wheels were brand new. When the job was done, 2 of my wheels had some scratching around the center cap as seen in their pictures. I asked the manager and he said the wheels were cheaply made and didn’t take responsibility for his staff scratching my brand new wheels. BEWARE if you have new/​fancy wheels, don’t come here to get any tire work done, believe me, you’ll be sorry…

If all the services in the world are like Emil’s The word it will be a better place.
I went to five different mechanic and none of them helped and the reason why because I have a huge truck and no one want to deal with it.

Came in the other week with my 2006 Toyota Camry… ends up the engine was dead by no fault other than mine. Ralphy was such a pleasure and an honest person to deal with. He quoted my what the repair would cost and told me flat out that if I could afford a new car I am better off. He could have easily made a good deal of money making the repairs but decided to do what is best for the customer, a trait one does not see in business to often. When it came to the final bill there I was floored. He had changed the oil, had mechanics diagnose the car, held it for five days until the donation company picked it up (handling all the related paper work for me and removing my plates), and moved the car when it needed to be moved to avoid it being ticketed, at the end he only charged me for an oil change… A real mensch… will definitely go back there and others should feel they are in good hands going there as well.

I came here years ago from Tire Rack because they installed their tires and have been coming back ever since. Ralph is very honest when making his assessment about your car. It’s a clean environment and their efficient. I come all the way from Crown Heights to get my car serviced from them. Wouldn’t go anywhere else unless I absolutely have to.

Came a day before New Years. I came late they took me right away for my car inspection. Friendly, quick, fair and reliable car servicing center. 5 stars!

My father-​in-​law does a lot of business in this part of Brooklyn and referred me to Emil’s. I’m glad he did. Ralph, the proprietor, is a salt of the earth, stand-​up guy. He calls it how he sees it, and doesn’t try to fleece his customers.
I went in to get new tires and have a general diagnostic check. They ended up encouraging me to use my spare (I have a Jeep, so it’s the same as the regular tires) as a new one and to only buy three new tires. That way, I could use the one currently on the car in the best condition and convert it to my spare, all to save some money.
I appreciated the honesty and great service I received. I’ll definitely be using them again.

Please, Unilocal,make it possible to give half-​star reviews if you can’t give zero. Or how about negative stars? Because Emil’s doesn’t deserve even one star, since they’re so absolutely awful.
Twice I’ve gone to Emil’s because (1) they’re 6 blocks from my house and (2) they’re open on Sundays. The first time was to replace a tire that couldn’t be saved (I already knew that). So Emil recommended tires and put them on — but of course, not just one tire: I needed two for the rear to keep the treads even. My naivety and stupidity made me believe him. Well, about six months after that, I’m in Sears because there’s something wrong with the tires. Turns out the tires were OLD and of such poor quality that they were about to burst! When even the people at Sears are telling you that you got sh###y tires, you know you did. To replace Emil’s bad service cost me $ 700 in new tires (to replace all 4 because the bad rear tires were putting more pressure on my front tire … ahh, sportscars…)
Anyways, I let years go by before I trusted Emil’s. When I did, it was because I needed an inspection done, it was the Sunday before my tags expired. I knew they’d find trouble with the brakes, so it didn’t surprise me. Their cost was reasonable (I already have two garages that charged the same rate). I got my inspection sticker and brakes fixed. Well, three months later, my car’s burning and I’m squealing anytime I come to a stop. Took my car to a dealer (because my car was really effed up and really had no choice if I wanted the right parts) and they tell me that «whoever did the last repairs to your brakes left the calipers down and so that burned out your brake discs AND pads AND your car’s misaligned.» Which is EXACTLY what I guessed, because it only smelled like my car was about to explode.
And that’ll be $ 2K to fix.
FRIGGING FRACKING FIBBLEY GIBLETS!!! NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN!!! Really? When I’m smart enough to know before going to a shop that the calipers were left down and the mechanic confirms it, that makes me smarter than any of the so-​called «mechanics» at Emil’s. You had to have driven the car to park it in your lot, and you didn’t notice that before I did? Emil’s make me think I don’t need to ever go to auto repair school — I could read a book and do a better job of repairing my own car than these dipwads. The owner’s son might be friendly, but their prices aren’t all that great. And for the price you pay, you get low-​quality products and ever lower-​quality mechanics working on your car.
This will teach me to NEVER doubt my instincts. My regular mechanic is a quiet guy, but his prices are in line with average for my neighborhood, and he’ll tell me what he can and can’t do and then recommend other places that can cover me. Emil’s was never one of his recommendations — and I know why now. They suck!!!

This place is not so honest and over-​priced. This shop is not a specialist to start with. As a matter of fact, repair shop of this kind of lousy to average quality is a dime a dozen throughout NYC!
3 years ago, I went in to repair a broken water pump on a 1991 Camry just because I didn’t want to risk a 4 mile drive to my own mechanic. I was charged close to $ 700 for the job. Are you kidding me? Somehow they even screwed up the timing belt tensioner and the car was never the same afterwards.
Fast forward 3 years, I tried them again for tire mounting/​balancing, was quoted $ 15 for balancing and $ 10 for mounting. Wait a minute, i could have gone to tire shops along 65^th street at Sunset park for same service at $ 16 per tire. 50% over regular rate? What kind of shop is this? You think we are all ignorant folks?
Also bumped into another walked on customer for 4 wheel alignment. He told me the price was $ 95. Say what? As of 9/​13, the going rate for this job was $ 75
Also observed that the technicians are not too careful. They managed to forgot to put 2 of my wheel caps on until I asked them ‘Where are they’?
While I was waiting, I overheard that another customer complained about having his license plate being put on upside down.
The hourly rate they charge is not much less than dealers anyway! When I asked why they charge so much, Ralph just shrugged and said: ‘This is the going rate in this neighborhood’.
What kind of B.S. is this?
Also, apparently if you are a Jewish/​Russian customer, they charge you a discounted price, but if you are not, then be prepared to paid close the dealer rate on auto repairs.
Bottom line:
If you can find another shop that you can trust, run and don’t walk from this place! Even if it is an emergency, tow you car back to the dealer and you are not much worse off.

Been here many times… Usually just for inspection. You are always treated with respect and professionalism.

Ralph recently followed up with me again regarding my service experience.
Unfortunately, he hadn’t received the message I sent him a year ago, but he still chose to follow up with me to resolve the situation. To me, that speaks volumes about the concern he has for his customers.
Apparently, when he offered to clean my car the first time, he had intended to take my car to a detail shop for me, and not attempt to clean it at his own shop. He took the trouble to track me down and reimburse me for the cost of having the interior detailed in Manhattan.
Ralph also owns one of the only tire shops in NYC that is open on Sundays, which is reason enough to come back. Based on the follow up I received from Ralph, If I needed tire service in Brooklyn, I would not hesitate to return to Emil’s All Tire.

Family’s been coming here for over 20 years.
I haven’t owned a car myself that hasn’t been to Emil’s.
The new location definitely seems to have been a good move as it can handle the unbelievable amounts of people that trust their cars to this family business. For the times that I’ll choose to sit and wait while my cars are worked on, the WIFI definitely helps make the wait pleasant.
With that said, if you’re impatient, or rather, not willing to wait for a job done right, then this would probably not be the place for you. As an earlier poster said, this place is incredibly busy for a reason, and honestly, the turn around time for the volume they handle is actually impressive.
Having been to other places, in the past (whether it’s cause I moved out of NY for a while or for an emergency where I couldn’t get my car to them) prices are competitive (to be fair, I pretty much stopped looking for second opinions and all that Jazz because it always ended up being wasted gas, time, and my breath).
The times where the prices are higher – I’ll gladly pay that marginal premium for the competent, cordial service I get there, not to mention all the times they saved me from paying hundreds to thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs.
Ralph is a straight shooter, and he still impresses me sometimes with the way he proves that he knows what he’s doing – it’s uncanny.
(Tip: generally, save for any major repairs, my car usually got out faster when I got it there first thing in the morning)
Pros: Competent, honest, reasonable prices, WIFI, Air conditioned waiting room/​heated waiting room. Quality work, friendly, cordial staff.
