I loved this place! HUGE selection of beer and great food — sad to see that it has closed.
FYI, I talked to the owner and IF they do open another store, it will be another ~1 year before he does so. In the meantime, I’ll have to find another place with an expansive beer selection

Eagle Provisions is sadly closed. I hear they will be re-​opening in a different location further south, so let’s hope that happens! Where else will I find 12 different gluten free beers in one place?

This place has a great soda and beer selection and lots of European foods. That’s about where my love for it ends. I am so sick of having to check everything to ensure that it’s not expired and VERY OFTEN finding that it is. I really want to support this business because it’s locally owned, but it’s gotten ridiculous what they try to pass as sell-​able. Now that the Associated Market has gone in down the street, I will not be visiting Eagle Provisions again except for rootbeer.

This place is a treasure. A real butcher– a craftsman– who produces spectacular cuts like crown roasts and beautiful hams for Easter, will come out with what you’re looking for if you don’t see it in the meat case, and he makes the most spectacular home made sausage in the back– grilled, with some peppers, will send you to Nirvana. As will the many varieties of kielbasa, which they are known for. And amazing babkas from Lithuanian Bakery, Cruschik– those flaky things dusted with powdered sugar– I’ve discovered so many interesting Polish specialties shopping there. Not to mention the tremendous beer selection, the natural fruit juices from Poland, and a diverse selection of often hard to find grocery items.
The downside? They’re closing in early June, the neighborhood won’t be the same without them, I’m going to have to hoard that sausage,

My girlfriend bought mozzarella from here. After she got home she realized it was expired. She went back and said it was expired and wanted another. The owner was extremely rude, making a scene in front of the other customers and made her pay for another one because «you’re stealing it if you take another.» She paid for it because she needed it then but we won’t be going back thanks to this jag off. This isn’t the only instance of expired food that they sell or food of subpar quality due to freezer burn. They have an excellent selection of beer but it is overpriced, $ 13 for an average six pack? No thanks.

Amazing family owned business. The best beer selection in Brooklyn. It’s my go to spot before coming home to California with gifts. Love this place… they also carry in house kielbasa (3.99/lb) and pierogies.

They have a very good beer selection and have been around for a long time. It’s one of the few places I have been able to find Spaten Optimator — which is one of my favorite beers. They literally have isles of beer and they are very well organized. Cheers.

I love you so much, Eagle… but you gotta get the Lebanon SWEET bologna to be legit. otherwise I love that you cater to my Polish heritage in every way. (Lebanon sweet bologna is not my Polish heritage but it’s delish!!)

Just moved in across the street from here and I was dying to get inside to check it out. The meat selection and prices are great. They also have a bunch of cheese and over 10 different types of perogies. The craft beer selection is wonderful also. There isn’t much produce. Watch out if you buy anything that stales or expires, is usually not that fresh. Other than that, meat at reasonable prices and craft beer, it’s my go to.
UPDATE! Talked to the owner, CLOSING JUNE 4^th! Horde the kielbasa!

This is one of the largest beer distributors, you can get lost here trying to decide which beer to buy. I use to go there to buy their polish smoked bacon, or other cold cuts and once I tried their fried cutlets (wiener schnitzels) which were home made and delicious.
They also have many meat cuts and actually you can find almost all you need, from italian to asian stuff. Service is always very kind, especially the guys at the cold cuts bar.

Go for the beer, avoid *everything* else. The shelves are filled with expired food (which they often sell as «clearance»), the cold/​freezer cases are warm and everything that should be cold is room temp (including dairy and, yes, meat) and the produce is questionable.
BUT, the beer selection is unparallelled. Amazing. Everything you could ever want.

SAVE THE EAGLE!
The Eagle Provisions building is up for sale, which may mean the end of this fabulous establishment. They have TONS of different kinds of beers and sodas, a conscious change to serve the growing hipster population. I love going here to seek out new finds or grab that uncommon brew that I had once somewhere, and they have it. The owner employs high school kids to work the register, so he has to supervise them constantly but it’s not something you really see anymore, local kids working in the locally-​owned store. I hope they find a way to stay open!

I have lived in the neighborhood for almost 6 years, and my feelings on Eagle are mixed.
The only things I buy here are bottled water (cheap prices), beer, Gatorade and the occasional onion or roll of toilet paper.
Why? Because almost every item in the store (from dairy products to meat, to canned goods, and even sometimes the beer) is EXPIRED. And not just by a few days — I’m talkin’ months.
The owner is really nice sometimes, and other times is really mean. He yells at customers near closing time and makes multiple announcements that the store is closing «in 15 minutes… 5 minutes… 3 minutes!» and then again on the dot and walks around asking people to go to the register. I understand that you close when you close, but to me that is really rude and pushy. Lock the door at 6:00 and let people finish their shopping.
I appreciate the beer selection and cheap gallons of water, but I go elsewhere for my groceries and other regular items.

Waited for what seems like forever for my husband to buy beer. That’s because they have 2,000 different kinds of beers! I don’t see how any other place can have more beer selection than this place. They also sell tons of plants! A must visit for beer lovers.

By the sheer quantity, their beer selection probably cannot be beat — I also love their categorization and the amazing attention to detail/​organization within; it’s an OCD beer lover’s wet dream. They had everything from some of the rare/​harder to find brews (snagged me a 4pk of Bourbon County here 5 whole months after distribution season) to year-​round/​seasonals. One thing I did notice was that everything was marked up around 125% here (I bought a bottle here for 21 dollars only to find the same bottle at Whole Foods Bowery for 17 dollars) and that a majority of the beers here seem to be shelf-​turds which can be either good news or bad news depending on what type of beer you’re shopping for (for example, they stopped exporting Yebisu to the United States about 2 years ago, so all those bottles are probably skunked, as well as the many four-​packs of Founders Double Trouble laying around; a good majority of the Brooklyn BlackOPS laying here, however, are from 2012, so assuming the temperature of the store remained constant for the past two years, they should taste superbly delicious right about now.)
I did see the super marked-​up bottles of Westvleteren XII and VIII sitting on the impulse shelf by the counter, as well as the hundred-​dollar marked up bottle of Sam Adams Utopias 2012; gave hard thought about paying $ 50 for a bottle of the VIII before reason and common sense kicked back in and I put it back down.
Overall this place is a beer hunter’s paradise — I’ll have to try some of the kielbasa when I come back next time as well.

Best local sauerkraut.
Best local beer collection. However, some of the «imports» aren’t imports. They are flavoured beers made in America. Read the labels.
They’re very helpful and there’s lots of selection. They listen to their customers and try to get in what people want to buy.
Good bread selection too. I don’t buy bread, but I parents love to get one of the sourdoughs they have when they come visit.

A favorite market in the neighborhood. Has a sick selection of items, artisanal to the mundane. Great polish butcher with awesome smoked meats. Way fresher stuff then Met Foods near by and fairly priced. Also a great place to go for housewarming presents, etc. They have a great selection of plants and fancy/​collector worthy beers. Really nice people work here, the only thing lacking is the produce. A great grocery store and it is nice to support a little family/​mom and pop shop.

Great for Eastern European provisions — I imagine Polish people feel similar when shopping here as I do as an Irishman at The Butcher Block in Woodside. I’ve lived in Poland — you can get pretty much anything you would miss from the motherland here and then some (including Warka Strong). Their kielbasa is fantastic (hint: it’s even better a couple blocks down at Jubilat). ‘Pot Cheese’ is an acceptable substitute for serek wiejski it turns out, and they have good cheese, cured meats and pierogi.
Eagle also probably has the best beer selection in New York City, and they don’t rip you off for having esoteric stock (see Bierkraft). I would strongly suggest however, that you check expiration dates on cans and bottles. Unfortunately, same goes for food items. The deli counter and checkout kids are understandably unenthusiastic to a level that borders comical.
