Excellent selection of shoes and boots. The manager Bryan went above and beyond to help me get my girlfriend boots for the holidays. I asked him if he could say they were out of her current size and he went to the stock room multiple times with different styles, bringing up a size bigger each time so I could buy her what she wanted as a surprise. This is how customer service should be. He hooked me up with a 10% discount on top of all that. Great manager, great customer service, great store.

This was the BEST experience I ever had in a shoe store. I walked in just as they were closing on a Saturday night and the entire staff greeted me with a huge hello and smiles all around. I came in looking for winter boots that were warm, stylish, waterproof and not too expensive. It’s late in the season so it’s really hard to find many options and sizes in stock. They just received this terrific boot and were so excited to show it to me. Milana took her time to bring me many options and talk me through my concerns for what would make the best boot for my needs. It’s rare to receive that kind of attention and thoughtfulness anymore — it was so refreshing. I was going back and forth on 2 different sizes and all the sales people offered their opinion, help and patience. I spent more time there than I should have, tried on the same boot many times, and never once did they make me feel like I had to rush or that they wanted to go home. I wanted to know each one of their names so I could be sure to mention them in the review. Milana, Regi, Cassandra, Denise and manager Bryan, who is a terrific manager because his entire staff was friendly, knowledgeable, kind and pure joy to be around. As they say — it stems from the top. I will always pop by DNA Footwear so I could continue to support a company/​store that is well run and cares about customer service in way you rarely see anymore.

I didn’t have a good experience here because I didn’t get the high quality product that I paid a lot of money for and I don’t think correcting their mistake was a priority.
PROS:
1. They have an interesting selection of shoes.
2. The price range varies.
3. The location is good. Fairly easy to reach.
CONS:
1. You cannot get a refund. You can exchange or get store credit within 30 days of the purchase. SO THOROUGHLY CHECK SHOES BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE STORE. MAKE SURE THAT THE FIT AND THE SIZE IS PERFECT. Don’t feel pressured.
2. From my experience at this store, this increases incentive to make a quick sale rather than make sure you are a satisfied customer.
3. They don’t have a reliable stock of sizes. They may be able to call another store and see if they have any. However, more often than not they may not have your size soon after they get a shipment of shoes. I guess its a small store so they just don’t get a lot of shoes and they are located in a high traffic area.
4. They also don’t know when they will get the shoes you want or if they will get the size you need anytime soon. So exchanging is limited to the at times scant stock of sizes that they have in the store.

The staff was so unbelievably friendly! I really like popping in to see what sort of trends are happening in the neighborhood.
But I am giving it 3 stars. Why?! DEM PRICES!
It is best to make a note of what you like and look online for it. You can get it 10 – 20 $ cheaper. I understand they have to pay rent but – GOOD LORD– it’s overpriced.

Not too bad of a shoe store, they occasionally have sales that are pretty great. The staff is helpful and friendly and offers honest supportive opinion
when you are in serious consideration of buying something. The only draw back is some pairs of shoes are way overpriced while others are the same exact price in every store. I also wish they had a bigger men’s selection.

Ehh they could do better. A lot better. The girls who work here are nice and most often attentive to the customer. But they never have any shoes in stock. Never. And I’m an 7.5 — 8. That’s a common size to have in stock. Or, at the at the very least, definitely on consistent reorder. They definitely have a great selection of cute shoes and a ton of brand names, but I feel like its been a terrible trend of theirs to never have various sizes in stock.
If they don’t have your size, check Soula or Something Else. The girls will offer to call the DNA in park slope to see if they have the size you need, but save yourself an extra trip by checking out these two stores first.

The customer service is excellent and super friendly. Joane was extremely helpful and held a pair of shoes for me for over a month! I will be coming back to shop for fall boots next month.

Arright, arright. My review of the Park Slope DNA location this past summer was less than generous… and because of the lame experience I had there, I hadn’t been back and was in fact not-​recommending DNA. Well, as it turns out, I couldn’t find new work shoes anywhere else on Smith Street today, and nearly ended up buying two pairs of shoes at DNA… but ended up with one. Lemme give you the DL.
The people who work here are… not my type of procurers of customer service. They are friendly, but verge on pushy and I never feeling like they’re paying complete attention. I have legit concerns about shoes, as I fractured my heel a couple years ago, and it never healed correctly. I need some major arch support, yo. I told one of the salespeople this, and was disppointed — because I liked him — that he referred me over to another employee, who supposedly knew about these things, but spent three seconds helping me and seemed more interested in her sale than in my shoe-​issues. She ended up recommending a pair of shoes that seemed okay, but ended up looking really ugly on (not her fault). I felt like she recommended them because she wanted to sell them more than any other reason. I ended up trying on and liking a similar (but way cuter) pair of shoes… and reluctantly forking over $ 100+ for them, since I have about three seconds of patience for shopping and even less amount of enjoyment for doing so.
I was actually quite beside myself when another employee came out with a pair of kicks I have been looking for FOREVER (see my review of Park Slope DNA, ahem), and excitedly asked if she had them in my size. She told me yes and then came back with a pair about two sizes too big. I ended up trying on a different color to see which size fit me (exactly the size I thought, booooo), and the employee, who really was very nice, offered to order them from another store (Park Slope hahahahahaha, touché — this is where they did not have them last time I looked). I almost had them ordered, but then felt 1. glutenous (Marxist goes shopping!) and 2. like DNA kinda sucks for never having what I want and always having weird-​ass customer service. So I decided to hold off. If they’d had them in the store, I would have happily dropped $ 55 on the shoes I’ve been lusting over forever.
I dunno, DNA. Sure, I’ll tell people where I got the really adorable work shoes I bought today, at your location. You have great shoes, all of them are really adorable! Your customer service always rubs me the wrong way, though, and those elusive black on black lace up Vans in men’s size 7… seriously? I dunno. :/

Worst shoe experience ever! I really wanted a frye boot in size 9. The sales girl brought out a size 7 and insisted that I try it. I have not worn a size 7 shoe since i was twelve years old. Obviously, they are working on commision here and that’s why it’s such a hard sell. I will not shop here again.
BTW went to Shoe Market in Williamsburg and they special ordered the boots for me.

I’ve been to this place several times, but it was always with my friend who was shopping for a pair of boots. I finally came here for myself when I was on the hunt for a pair of 1460 Doc Martens. They didn’t have my size in men or women’s. I even tried on larger sizes which partially fit. The sales guy was really friendly and we had a nice conversation about boots. We both noticed that the mens 1460 Doc Martens leather upper was of better quality than the women’s, we discussed how I could possibly get the boots to fit better. I asked my friend to take her insoles out of her shoes to try them in these boots. I even carried a pair of thicker socks with me to try these boots. While all this is going on the sales guy didn’t mind that I was trying insoles and changing socks or whatever. Hey, my feet are CLEAN. After all attempts failed, he tried to help me find another pair of leather boots in my size with my style. He picked some nice ones which showed he picked up on my kind of style, most sales people just show you anything. He also tried to match my price range, showed me a pair that I liked but didn’t fit well which was the same pair he was wearing and he rocked the look in those boots. It was a pleasant experience but I still had to leave empty handed. What can I say? I am picky with odd sized feet. But the sales guy did his best. I wish they would carry and keep in stock more sizes.

Last year I bought a well-​researched pair of Frye boots here at a decent price. I came to this store specifically because they carry Frye. I’ve been back to browse since, and always find the salespeople to be very helpful and knowledgeable. They don’t pressure, and they don’t mind at all when you check prices against Zappos on your phone. I’ll rate their prices moderate, although some styles are in the pricey category.

Seriously cute shoes at decent prices. I got a pair of flats here in October for an event that have turned out to be one of my favorite pairs of shoes. Lots of different brands.
