possibly one of the smallest exhibits/museums you’ll ever find… and it’s free! worth a peek. lots of newspaper articles, photos, posters, and other bits of nostalgia from Coney Island’s ancient times. this summer is the centennial of the Dreamland Park Fire, so there is a lot of stuff on display about that. hey, they even had a midget fire department! visitors are also encouraged to record an audio track regarding their memories and stories of Coney Island. these are available online on the website for all to listen. donations are accepted, and they also sell some Coney Island swag.

I love everything about the Coney Island History Project. Coney Island has one of the most interesting histories in NY. This place focuses on different aspects of that history with pictures, artifacts, and explanations of things that played a role in shaping Coney Island. The executive director, Charles Denson, is the author of Coney Island: Lost and Found, one of the definitive histories of Coney Island. He and the rest of the staff are wonderful and knowledgable. This is a great place to visit, and Coney Island just wouldn’t be the same without it.
