Familiarize yourself with the NYC swimming pool rules and this is a great place to go! In the morning they have half the pool roped off for lap swim. They also have a secondary kiddie pool

This pool was clean, well-attended and it did the trick during a recent heat wave. If you bring stuff with you, you MUST bring a lock for the locker room. They may not let you in otherwise. We were two adults swimming during midday amid a sea of children. We lasted 45 minutes, after a few kicks each in the ribs and elsewhere. The sweet spot is at 4 p.m., when it reopens after an hour-long cleaning. You may have 15 minutes max to swim without a bunch of kids. Other than that, I imagine you should go early in the day. But it’s hard to be a grouch during the summer. After all, kids will be kids. :-)

Great, underused pool in Fort Greene. Water is very clear, and it is usually great for lap swimming when it first opens up. On busy days or hot days it can get chaotic later in the day, and they don’t do the best job keeping debris from the pool, but the place is great.
