CityMD – Park Slope

Avoid. I went in for an infection, provided clear information about what has been going on. The doctor was dismissive and said it was probably a virus and thus too late to do anything. I indicated that I wanted some confirmation if possible. He did some tests and found some evidence of a possible bacterial infection. Prescribed antibiotics and said it would be 2 – 3 business days to get further test results… I was told that the results would appear on a patient portal. I expressed concern about taking antibiotics unnecessarily but again was dismissed.
After checking the portal again and again and feeling horrible from the antibiotics, I finally called the doctor now nearly a week after the initial visit. I was told that the results actually came back negative several days ago. No call, no publication as promised on the site, no notification that I was able to stop the antibiotics. So, effectively, I’m taking a toxic chemical that is making me sick for absolutely nothing.
Newsflash to CityMD: prescribing antibiotics unnecessarily is NOT effective medicine. This is why antibiotics are increasingly ineffective in situations where they are actually indicated: because doctors like yours are prescribing them when they aren’t needed. I suffered for a year of gut dysbiosis because of a similarly incapable medical practitioner, and to put me at this risk unnecessarily is unconscionable. BUT, to NOT CALL WITH THE RESULTS is beyond terrible.
I have tried this urgent care location twice and I will never return. I would rather go to the emergency room than risk being «treated» by these terrible doctors again.

I’ve been to CityMD in Park Slope several times. Most of the visits have been pretty good. Wait times were short, waiting room was clean, doctors were professional and treatment was on point.
This week I came in with what I was sure was bronchitis and a sinus infection. Having suffered from these for all of my 40+ years, I am very familiar with the pattern. By the time I came in, I had green snot pouring out my nose and I was doubled over coughing out huge blobs of phlegm right in front of the doctor
I saw Dr. Louis Cooper who told me that I had a viral, not bacterial infection. He tried to give me Advil and Afrin. Oh, and he offered me a note for my work, despite me telling him that I have a flexible job that did not require a note. He also told me that there is «no connection between the sinuses and the lungs», despite me having had both a sinus infection and bronchitis at the same time previously. I found him smug and arrogant and dismissive to my complaints and symptoms.
I get that antibiotics are overprescribed. Truly, I do. It’s my goal not to take antibiotics unless absolutely necessary as I’ve already become resistant to several of them.
By the next day the snot was brown and I was much worse. I had to have my regular doctor prescribe me antibiotics and an inhaler (I don’t have asthma, but had already told Dr. Cooper that I was having trouble breathing, and in those cases Albuterol helps). Why? I have bronchitis. And a sinus infection.
So, I wasted a full day in getting better, plus $ 50 for the visit. However, I did get a doctor’s note. I will be sure to blow my nose on it.

Thank you Dr. Cooper at CityMD for saving me from developing tenanus. What I like about CityMD (aside from having my life saved) is that this facility has their phone answered by an actual human and the staff onsite were incredibly patient and friendly — even at the end of a long Friday. I sought out CityMD after my own regular doctor at Mt. Sinai never called me back after I put in a call to get a tetanus shot on a Weds (I was not really comforted when she finally called me back more than 24 hours later.) Thank goodness for CityMD or I would be writhing in the pain of lockjaw about now… Seriously though, I have been to three different locations in NYC and Brooklyn and all I can say is thank goodness they exist. Again, kudos to Dr. Cooper. He is the kind of attentive on the ball GP you want taking care of you. (PS — The nurses were great too, but I don’t know their names!)

Very happy with my experience there. It was fast (they said 20 minute wait but probably waited 10), clean and serious. Not that I want to, but I would definitely go back there if I need to :)

ok this place puts a complete new spin on the word «urgent»…I waited over a hour to see a Dr’s ass’t who I heard complaining that the rooms were full! Finally someone took my information but later had to argue with the lifeless surly slugs at the desk about the date of return to work. This place is a nightmare and I would never go again, ever!!!

Amazing treatment, the nurse and the doctor was very nice, and as a combat medic, I can say they were very professionals

I have been here twice and I Have found the encounter excellent both times. It can get active midday, but I Have been seen both times in less than 10 minutes of waiting. The facility and equipment is all new, which is fine, and the physicians communicate well and listen well. Since it’s urgent care, I was anticipating a high priced claim on my insurance: perhaps much less high as going to the emergency room, but still higher than standard.

I got a wrong diagnosis and would not recommend CityMD. I (and my wallet) would have been much better off if I had just gone to my regular doctor. If you have a choice, just go see your regular doctor.

Marley, Thank you for going above and beyond… your help was tremendous during a time where I needed to focus on my health and getting better. You saved me tons of time and made the trip to CityMD on a Sunday well worth it. I’m feeling and doing much better, thanks to the health professionals care. Park Slope is my go to spot when my primary care provider is not available. Thanks again to the staff.

Not a bad place for what it is. Doctor did not know much about knee ligaments or how to treat an ACL injury, which was not a surprise. X ray was done and everyone was professional. Was able to get crutches as well, which I was not sure about going in. Would recommend if you need to see a doctor in a pinch.

The best urgent care I’ve been too. Walked in, I was seen in less then 10 minutes. The staff is amazing and very nice. The facility is extremely clean. Medical scribe took my vitals and saw a doctor within 10 mins. I was in and out in less then an hour WHICH IS AMAZING FOR URGENT CARE.

I basically paid to have someone look at and re-​dress a wound on my finger– I had cut off the tip of my finger using a mandolin a few days earlier and didn’t trust the urgent care I went to. The PA was nice, answered my questions, and was patient. The place looked clean and while I did have to wait a bit it wasn’t a big deal because it was just a follow-​up. The PA told me I should get a tetanus shot because I hadn’t had one in at least 9 years, which I didn’t mind doing.
However, I had an allergic/​adverse reaction to the shot including extreme soreness, an egg-​like bump on the spot, bruising, fever, flu-​like symptoms and dizziness. It also radiated heat. This went on for over 2 weeks. When I went back a few days later to see if it was a normal reaction, I was told that I’d have to pay a visit fee to see someone again, even though I tried to argue that it would have simply been less than a minute and that it should be a courtesy if someone is having a negative reaction or allergy to something they did. The woman at the front desk basically waved me off saying «Oh yeah, it hurts. But if you want to see someone about it, you’ll have to pay.» So I left. I thought that was very unprofessional.
I actually had to go to NYU hospital for a routine test a few days later and those nurses (in a simple radiology department) were WAY more concerned about my reaction than the people at City MD were.

I recently changed to a job that would allow me to spend more time with my 4 year old. However this particular morning I was not planning to spend with him. I had to go to an important meeting I had all my documents in order and was ready to take him to Pre-​K when he approached me, «Moooooom.» Uh oh. He confessed he had stuck a bead up his nose. I made a futile attempt with tweezers but it was lodged too far up. I called a taxi.
City MD saw him quickly and I realized immediately Dr. Rosen was very experienced with children. She shared she has three of her own. She put my son at ease and was very kind and respectful to him. She tried about 8 or 9 different tools and techniques and I was really nervous we were going to have to go to the actual Emergency Room when she finally succeeded at getting that damned bead out. My kid was just happy about the lollipops.
Hopefully he learned his lesson but in the event something like this happens again we will def. go back there.

I just came in today, and have to say that I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and treatment I received. The staff at the front desk were very nice and informative.
The doctor was simply amazing! So kind and helpful. No one «wants» to have to see a doctor, but I have to say that if all visits were like this, that would change.

The difference between here and my health provider? None! Same olé 2 hour wait, lots of paper work and over crowded waiting room.
Next time I’ll spare myself the trouble of visiting an «urgent care» facility and stick will regular olé care. Ohhh, the irony. Fancy marketing but all fluff. 5 thumbs down. (I grew 3 extra thumbs while waiting)

Been here twice. Both times the staff has been very friendly, efficient, and helpful.
The process can take a little while. You fill out a brief form, then wait, then get your vitals checked, then wait, then tell your symptoms to an assistant, then wait for the doctor, then wait another few moments for your «discharge» papers.
I’m sure it’s very efficient, and allows for the doctor to see as many patients as possible. But leave yourself at least an hour to go through the process.
Again, friendly, helpful, and convenient. And, was just $ 25 with my insurance.

This place is ultra clean and so convenient!
My son needed stitches on 2 occasions and this was a much better option rather than the long queues and ugly waiting rooms at the hospital!
Plus this is only $ 50 versus what it would cost at hospital to cover my hospital premium of 200!
The staff is friendly and very attentive.

I went to City MD for a problem (axillary abcess) I knew I’d be waiting forever for in an actual ER. I went on a weekday, after work and I was seen within 20 min. The receptionist were prompt and friendly. There was an intern (MD) who initiated my assessment and then a more experienced MD who said he normally works the ER on a regular basis. I had to take a pregnancy test (lol) but
They took care of the abcess, (didn’t gag) and were empathetic. I received prescriptions for antibiotics and pain medication and a follow-​up visit. I was out in two hours. Perfect.

So amazing! I had to go today because my regular Dr. does not have Sunday hours and I was so impressed. I was in and out in way under an hour even though the waiting room was pretty full. The staff was super nice and professional. The cost was absolutely reasonable. My insurance was not accepted at this time (they are working to add my policy to their list), but it was still worth the whole $ 125.00 it cost to be seen and diagnosed. And at the end I got a lollipop!
I would recommend this to anyone who needs a Dr. or an ER (obviously for non-​life threatening issues). My insurance would have covered an ER visit, but I would still be there waiting so again absolutely worth the money and time saved.

Cons — didnt mention the rather large deductible associated with urgent care on my medical plan (said copay was all i needed to pay). not very friendly service. long wait. vague diagnosis usually (maybe it’s back spasms? maybe you are getting old? maybe tendinitis?)
