Specialties

Checklist Home Services focuses on general handyman work.

This includes furniture assembly, painting, installing shelving and closets, caulking, grouting, mounting TVs, installing window air conditioners, carpentry, installing light fixtures, switches, and dimmers, installing plumbing faucets, shower heads, and toilets. We make it easier than any handyman company to get a quote — just submit your list online, and we’ll get back to you within one business day with a quote and available times to schedule. Leave the handiwork to us!

History

Established in 2011.

Founded and operated by a Brooklyn woman who had been let down and belittled one too many times by handymen, Checklist is the alternative to fly-by-night handymen on Craigslist. Checklist’s handymen will tackle those pesky tasks that you’ve attempted to delegate to your honey, absentee landlord, or super; furniture assembly, painting, TV mounting, unclogging drains, caulking, weatherstripping, childproofing, light installation.

Liz P.

Business Owner

Living in a city where busy professionals outsource everything from home cleaning to dog walking, I recognized a critical gap in the marketplace for reliable handyman services. I started my company in 2011 after being cheated, belittled, and let down by handymen who I hired to do minor renovations and repairs in my own home. One skipped the country with my money before finishing a project. Another insisted on speaking only with my husband, not recognizing that I was an experienced DIYer, with a husband who didn’t own a drill before marrying me. And then there were the handymen who showed up late, didn’t return phone calls, and littered my sidewalk with cigarette butts. There had to be a better way. So I wrote a business plan, quit my corporate job, and have never looked back.
