I have service packages offered to make things easy for you, however, if you want something more customized then please use the form below to tell me some more about your wedding — I’m happy to shoot for an intimate wedding, or even one at City Hall!

As a boutique style photographer I’m limited to shooting just a select few weddings and engagement sessions a year, and I’d love to include you if I can. That said, I recognize that I’m not for every client, and every client isn’t necessarily for me. I’d love to start the dialogue and see if we’re a good fit to shoot for you!

My love of portrait photography at its core comes from my fundamental curiosity and interest in the lives of the people around me. As Brooklyn based lifestyle photographers, our experience in servicing a diverse population continues to grow each year, at an ever-​increasing rate.

We love to meet and interact with our clients so if you have any anxiety about taking pictures you’ll find that we can make photography as fun as just hanging out with a couple of friends. Engagement sessions and Weddings are where our natural charms are best put to use in serving our clients and their families. I’ve had the pleasure of Carlos’ services on several occasions to date. A christening, family portraits and customized photography for my home. On each occasion, he was patient, creative, and encouraging. Did I mention patient. I love working with someone as considerate and innovate as this young man.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Carlos on two separate occasions. The first time was to take head shots for my newly created website. Second was to take head shots to be used on a book cover in a book project I was working on with 14 other authors. Each time he was patient, motivating and easy going. Some may say I suffer from RBF (Google it folks) but that was not apparent in the final photos on both go rounds! For the second shoot, which was about a year after the first, Carlos had hand picked over a dozen poses for me to go through from which we would choose the best ones. He and his apprentice, Michele did a wonderful job of keeping me entertained and smiling throughout both shoots. I highly recommend using their services for any occasion. He already knows my fiancé will be tapping him for our engagement photos, as soon as we set a date… we’re at the 16 month mark since our proposal. But that’s neither here or there, all things happen in their due time. All this to say, look no further this is the photographer you want to book!

My son had the good fortune to hire Carlos and his wife to take photos of his marriage proposal. Family members on both sides had flown to NYC to witness the big event. Carlos was amazing and organized us all~ we were nervous and didn’t know what to do and where to stand~ and he orchestrated everything. He was so nice, and he and his wife knew exactly what to do to get the best photos. The resulting photos were wonderful and I am so grateful that my son hired Carlos. I just received the photos I ordered and they arrived in a box with a bow and each photo was individually wrapped, It was a nice touch by a very talented photographer!

Carlos photographed my engagement earlier this April. Throughout the whole process Carlos was so helpful and thoughtful — he helped to think through timing, location, and even was great in organizing family members before the big moment. The proposal took place in Washington Square Park on a busy Saturday afternoon, but Carlos and Michelle (his fiancé and photography partner) were really great in keeping everything organized
After the proposal we did a follow up session around the park. The pictures that came out of that 30 – 45 minute session turned out amazing and my finance and I were so thrilled that we had Carlos and Michelle there to professionally document everything. They were both really easy and fun to work with.
The follow up after the big day was equally thoughtful and well-​done. We received a really cute CD and USB drive with all of the edited pictures for us to keep (I say cute because the CD had a picture of my fiancé and me printed on it, and the USB was hand-​painted in a really cool way). Moreover, Carlos was consistently prompt, easy to work with, and so thoughtful before, during, and after the proposal.
I would strongly recommend Carlos to anyone out there interested in a great photographer!

Carlos helped me do a suprise engagement photo shoot with my now fiancé, and he did an excellent job. I am from out of town but came in to NYC for a weekend trip to propose, and he was great with getting everything set up and planned out without me ever coming to meet him in person before the photoshoot. We talked multiple times on the phone to discuss ideas and plan, and it really went very smoothly.
The shoot took place in the Conservatory Garden, and he went earlier in the week and scoped out the garden to find the best place for me to propose while he and his partner, Michelle, took the surprise pictures. He sent me a detailed email with pictures of the surrounding area and the spot I should stand in for the best angles. This was extremely helpful and really put my mind at ease.
On the actual day, there was a bit of a hiccup in that there was a group of people standing in the spot I was supposed to propose at, so I had to switch it up on the fly and change the spot without spoiling the surprise and communicating it directly to Carlos (who was doing a great job pretending to walk around the garden taking pictures of the flowers). He and Michelle both picked up on the change of plans, shifted their positions and still got amazing photos of the proposal.
After the proposal we did a follow up shoot around the garden. Carlos and Michelle were really easy to work with, and they really helped us be relaxed and natural throughout the shoot. Carlos already had plenty of places in mind to take pictures, so it was easy to just follow his plan and have fun.
In the end, the pictures turned out great and it was a great experience made very easy and professional by Carlos. Both my fiancé and I love the surprise pictures that captured her reaction in the moment to the proposal, and the photoshoot pictures afterward look amazing. This was worth doing 100 times over — I would highly recommend Carlos’ services.

Carlos photographed our wedding in June 2012. From start to finish, Carlos was so friendly, understanding and accommodating. Our wedding was a small ceremony without a formal reception afterwards. It was just immediate family and we weren’t sure a photographer would consider it worthwhile to just photograph our little ceremony and some family pictures afterwards. But Carlos was so accommodating and flexible to our situation. He accepted the job on very short notice. He arrived at the church early to set up. He captured gorgeous candid photos of our wedding ceremony and then suggested a really nice location in Central Park where he took photos of my husband and I, and also lots of beautiful photos of our immediate family. Carlos was really so friendly to everybody in my family and so nice to work with. The photos were absolutely beautiful. Also, Carlos was very flexible in working out a package that was good for our needs and coming up with a package that was tailored for us. The photos were truly stunning and we’re so happy we had a professional there to capture the day. Lastly, Carlos was so easy to get in touch with after the wedding, while he was compiling a web site and dvd of our photos. He was easy to reach and fast to respond to our e-​mails with updates. We were so happy in every way with the job Carlos did and will be thrilled to use Caros in the future for other family events. Thanks Carlos!!!

My fiancé (now husband) and I worked with Carlos over a year ago for an engagement shoot in Brooklyn (specifically DUMBO and the promenade). To be honest, we were nervous because we’re both a little shy, nerdy, and goofy and probably not the most comfortable people in front of a camera. But if you are going to have an engagement shoot, get ready to feel cheesy no matter who the photographer is. Just a heads up, you’re going to have to look like you’re in love!
But Carlos was really great to work with. He had a lot of ideas and everything was very organic. He does spend time to chat with you, get to know you a little so the experience is definitely less awkward then it has to be. And our comfort and his abilities really shine through in the photos. Our favorite photos ended up being the ones when he just captured an odd, quirky moment, when we’re laughing or making stupid faces at each other. Yes, the lovey-​dovey ones were beautiful too. We are a couple of average attractiveness and he made us look good!
We definitely recommend Carlos to anyone looking for an engagement shoot in Brooklyn. He obviously did a lot of prep work because he had a plan for where to take us and when the lighting was its best. Generally speaking you want a photographer that knows the environment because he’ll have ideas on great shots.
He was also very quick with the turnaround time (better than our wedding photographer!) FYI, we would have used Carlos as our wedding photographer but we had a destination wedding.

My fiancé and I recently did an engagement photo shoot with this photographer in Fort Greene, BK. It went well — I thought Carlos gave really great direction during the shoot and he put me and my fiancé at ease. I just got back the photographs and they are lovely! Carlos has a great eye for scenery — there are a couple of shots that I was not sure would come out well (while shooting) but the results are fabulous! And I would also say the photos are great representation of who we are as a couple.
Full disclosure: my fiancé is not as pleased with the photos as I am, but only because he did not like the way he looked with his beard in the photos. (I happen to love my man with his beard, however. Just my preference!) Carlos is good but he will not be giving someone a shave post photo-​shoot production. A tip if you decide to go with Carlos or any other photographer for a shoot like this — you should be totally comfortable with what you’re wearing, your hair, etc BEFORE the photo shoot! Contact the photographer if you have any questions about attire, hair, etc.
So yes, I’m very happy with what I got and recommend Carlos for your photography needs! Check him out!

I did a maternity shoot with Carlos Thomas Photography and it was a great experience. I had never had my photograph taken by a professional photographer and was pretty shy about getting my photo taken. Carlos came to my home to do the shoot & made me feel very comfortable & confident. We had fun with the shoot at the same time! I was very pleased with the end result and would definitely use Carlos Thomas Photography if I needed a professional photographer in the future!
