Bought a cheap sofa from Bob’s and the seat cushions had springs coming up after 2 ½ years. Debra replaced the cushions with much better quality ones at a fair price. Turnover was just a few days. The type of neighborhood business that brings me back to the days when I was a youth.

Bought a new couch from ikea. Dog was so excited he chewed up a cushion before it was covered. My man at Brooklyn Foam cut a new piece and I’m back in the couch game! Ps– I found them via Unilocal

What a gem this little spot is, a truer mom and pop shop you couldn’t find! The owner and interior designer, Debra, handles from the simplest of foam and fabrics to the far more intricate reupholstery, window treatments, custom builds, foam molds, antiques restoration, framing, re-webbing, bedding, quilting, hand-stitching/staining, to a complete renewal of your home; while her husband, a retired art collector, brings in all sorts of antiquities, furniture, paintings, sculptures, pottery, rugs, all kinds of interesting curios. My fiancé and I just bought our first home together in the West Village, and I started with just wanting a particular-shaped window seat cushion for the breakfast nook. Debra, who came highly recommended(by a friend whose home she worked on in Brooklyn Heights) helped me to find the perfect fabric to compliment the colors and wallpaper of the kitchen/dining room. This ballooned into endless gorgeous window dressings, reupholstery of antiques that have been in my family for years but hidden in storage/pieces I’ve found in markets with my fiancé, the building of beds, headboards, tables, benches, the combining of stunning fabrics old, new and eco-green with contemporary and antique furniture and wallpapers/paint colors, outdoor garden/deck furnishings and materials, beautiful pillows with fabrics and trim from all over the world, perfect cushy dogbeds and the beginnings of our nursery. Also when my fiancé was shooting a film and needed his airstream redone and made livable, she worked her deft magic and created such a gorgeous space for him. So delighted to have found this wonderful couple of artisans! Do find their lovely little shop and let them create and reinvent in ways so unique to them!

‘The Foam Center’ – I don’t know how it survives but I’m glad it does. It holds all sorts of kooky items you can’t usually find anywhere else. Antiques, draperies, futons, mattresses, pillows, knick-knacks; and all sorts of custom-made items. For anything involving foam or foam cushions, this must be your destination.
