I am SO GLAD this place has closed down Best news all day, I knew it was bound to happen… I wonder what caused them to close: their unprofessional nature, their unreasonable business practices, their lack of heat/​air conditioning for clients, or the fact that customers were catching on to their unfairness? Hmm perhaps they moved to Mars and can now charge their customers $ 400 for a wash and set and then next week increase the price to $ 500 without any fair warning. Either way, keep it moving, I detest businesses that are unfair in their practice. Irene and Michelle, despite what you think, you can’t fool people. People are intelligent and work very hard for their money. Don’t take advantage of people. Goodbye

Ok so I started going to Bien curls about a year ago. I have given them the benefit of the doubt despite reviews; and they let me down every time. First Michele overloads you with information on your hair. The mother talks about you being cheap in Spanish. Little does she know I speak Spanish. I asked for a color job. She said $ 600 I nearly fell out my chair. This salon that’s in the slums of Bushwick? The same salon that has no heat in the winter and no Ac in the summer? The same salon that isn’t prompt when I have a 12pm appointment? They come strolling in at 1:30 with only one person washing hair? Waiting for management to arrive? They must be out of their mind. Michelle’s mother charged me $ 130 for a toner which she explained will rejuvenate my damaged hair. I kid you not. I didn’t see a difference in my hair. I then tried their anti-​frizz treatment which was basically a keritin like treatment for a price of $ 300. My it honestly didn’t make a difference in my hair. It was as though I had gotten one of their regular wash and sets. Disappointed because I work hard for money, I’m like damn. These mother fuckers keep robbing me with my eyes open. Talking about me so Rude in Spanish while negotiating a price for me while I’m sitting right there in the chair. Let’s not even get into when they charged me $ 40 for a wash and set. Con me into buying the $ 300 wash and set package. And then when my package finished Irene tells me $ 65 cause her products are expensive. The phuck? For the same treatment I’ve been getting before?
Ok so point blank. My advice is DONT GO HERE. They over charge you. They have no respect for people’s time. They show up when they want and they usually have just one person sweeping up sitting around promising you, «oh Michele or Irene will b in, in like 10 min» and then rack up the price of your service. You can get better service in the heart of Manhattan for the ridiculous prices that these people try to charge. Smh DISCLAIMER SAVE YOUR MONEY. Do not go here!!!

This place lord only knows how badly they damage my hair I lost $ 600! They told me that I had to get a Package of 2 sessions since the blond won’t be perfect on the fist try I understood that but my god how badly burn my hair was from the first time if I would of done the second part to get blond I would of been bald. I was depress for months, I understand that going from any color to blond is difficult but if I knew how badly damaged my hair was going to turn out I could of never done it maybe they should also let they customer know that the hair will melt away with the bleach!!! Lost $ 600 no refund, one of the worst experience — the picture I added is a before and after and it’s clearly almost the same color just my ends are so damage on the right photo.

Michelle & Irene are great hair stylists and have always left my hair feeling extremely soft and silky in the past. As for the other people who work there, don’t get your hair done with them. Most of the times I’ve gone there, I’ve been there for 3 – 6 hours. The price does fluctuate considering Michelle told me one of their hair treatments (i think its called the BTR treatment) would be 185 for me & then Irene proceeded to tell my mother it’d be around 300 for me a week later.
I’m giving 2 stars mainly based on the fact that they fucked up my moms hair. She went there a few weeks ago with medium length dark brown hair and she wanted to do some sort of highlights to cover her grey hairs (recommended by Michelle) & she walked out with caramel blonde hair & you could barely notice the highlights considering her whole freaking head was dyed almost the same color. The color was beautiful but not what my mother had asked for AT ALL. Her hair was also cut into extremely short layers after my mom insisted on not cutting anymore. Her hair was also very dry and damaged. The whole process for my mother was $ 400. The price was a bit high but it wouldn’t have been a problem if they had given my mother what she asked for in the first place. My mom went back a week later and complained about how dry and damaged her hair was and then they gave her a complementary wash & set with one of their treatments.

Excellent service! Pricey but your hair will look and feel amazing! Your hair is worth it!

I learned that this salon closed down and I was very happy to hear that just because they were extremely unprofessional and extremely overpriced. The experiences I’ve had at this salon have been terrible. When I made my very first appointment they explained to me that it was important to get there on time which was no problem because I usually arrive early to any appointment. All the stylist walked in about an hour in a half to two hours after I got there and the other two times they walked in just as late also. It’s kind of funny because you can tell they have the assistant making excuses for them so the one excuse she uses is «Michelles coming, she’s looking for parking» So I guess it takes her two hours to do that. I have curly hair so i was excited to have them help me revive my curls and embrace them. I paid for the BTR treatment which i believe was $ 300…don’t let that treatment fool you ladies because it didn’t transform my hair what so ever. It was basically a regular conditioner infused with a ton of peppermint extract which gives you this cool tingling sensation on your scalp so you THINK the treatment is working wonders but Nope. I also wanted to add some extensions for volume/​fullness. Michelle did my install and I hated them. You could tell where my real hair ended and where the extensions began. When I walked out the salon I could see the other clients looking at my hair like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? I made another appointment with Michelle because my birthday was around the corner and she was getting me excited and telling me how she could give me «Great Birthday Hair». The day of my appt they were running late, as usual, they explain to me that Michelle will not be coming and that this other woman was doing my hair. I believe the woman is Michelle’s mom but I’m not sure. I was obviously very upset especially since I wasn’t familiar with the ladies work. I wanted my hair to have that soft bouncy curl look, the woman ended up giving me Sweet 16 curls. They were hard, crunchy and very poofy. She added so much hairspray, it was awful. I explained to her that I didn’t like it and she said «Come back this weekend, We’re doing an event and you can get your hair and makeup done for a discounted price». I was looking at that woman like she was completely insane. My birthday was that day and my bday plans were for that day as well, not the weekend. Why would I come back to get my hair and makeup done once my birthday passed? and why would I pay a discounted price when I just paid to have my hair done by you and it looks like crap? If anything I should’ve been invited for free! I told them I wanted to speak with a manager or someone in charge because I was walking out of the salon very dissatisfied and Michelle’s mom said I am the Manager. In my head I was like, Oh Damn this salon ain’t going to make it. They also explained to me how the salon was owned by someone else and they were just the artists. I’m sure if the owners were more involved they wouldn’t think they hired a team of artists. I got home and some how my curls had dropped and I didn’t even know how because it had so much hairspray so I tried to re-​curl it and it looked even worst. I ended up washing my hair and doing it straight myself when I just paid $ 80 at Bien. I emailed Michelle to let her know in detail about my experience and she offered me a complimentary service. When I contacted her to make an appt for that complimentary service she never ever responded to me. I was very surprised because she seemed the most professional. When I was emailing her to make the appt I didn’t even want my hair done. I just wanted her to remove the extensions so I ended up removing them myself. I would never suggest this Salon if it were to reopen and I would never suggest for anyone to have their hair done by the women of Bien Curls.

I love my hair and it’s because of Bien Curls. I’m an African American woman, referred to Bien Curls by a friend who has «good» hair. So I wasn’t sure what to expect. I did expect the cost, which is a big pricey, what I didn’t expect was the service and my results. It’s set in Bushwick but walking in the salon I could’ve been in Manhattan. I have never waited over 30 min. I received very good care as well as every step done to my hair was explained, I also received hair lessons. I never realized how damaged my hair was. All the different hair products to achieve my «look» was hurting my hair! It was falling out at a rapid pace it was severely dry. (I have pics) I received the deepest conditioner known to man, color toner, which lasts crazy long. They brought back my hair to a healthy place, they had to work really hard to do it! Now I receive compliments on it daily. It’s easily maintainable. They basically taught me HOW to love my hair. So thank you Bien Curls! Love you guys all the way off!

Have been coming here for a few years now, and every experience has been a bad one, but I continue to them the benefit of the doubt. Trying to support my local businesses. I decided to walk in and not make an appointment, which was a BAD idea. They only have the lady that washes your hair, and NO Stylist on the premises. She decided to wash my hair as she reached out to the owner on her cell phone, and NO answer. She then continued to reach out to her and she finally decided to pick up after 20 minutes. My point is why even open for business if you don’t have anyone other than the girl who washes your hair available… I feel for what they charge to cut and style your hair they shouldn’t be so unprofessional, and say give her 45 min to arrive… I honestly had no choice but to wait due to sitting here with my hair wet. I feel if you want to charge City prices give me the full city experience and professionalism. I’m so not a happy camper right now…

I happened upon this place while walking my dogs. Melissa was very friendly and greeted me right away. She then made me an appointment did the same night even though it was busy. The quality of the service was great, my hair is still shiny and soft three days later. I can’t wait to go in and get my hair dyed purple! My only critique is that they don’t have and outside sign so they are hard to find if you’re not paying attention.

I came here on a Friday morning. I had made an appointment for Thursday evening, but called and canceled because I was running late, and wasn’t going to make it in time. the person I spoke to on the phone said that I could come the next day at 11am. So I arrive, and no one is there but one lady sweeping the floors. I told her I had an appointment at 11 and she looked surprised then she made a phone call and told me that someone would be here at 12. So i waited and then somebody came. That was frustrating though cause how I make an appointment and NO ONE is aware of the appointment. The person who did my hair did a good job (no questions about that) but I was blindsided by the price. I had gotten a gloss treatment, wash and style at this salon maybe a year prior, and the cost was $ 92. So I was completely surprised by the fact that I was now being charged $ 185. That’s OD. The owner was not in so I did not make a fuss about it, plus I had a flight to catch and figured I will email them to verify if this is really the cost or if I was accidentally overcharged. So I emailed them, and 3 days later someone replies and says they will look into it an get back to me. I came back from vacation and a month later, I still have no response. That’s unprofessional. So I’m not coming back here. Its way too expensive. I don’t mind paying up to a hundred for a gloss if the place does a good job (which they did), but $ 185??? That’s insane.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! No professionalism, you shouldn’t have a business if you can’t run one!
I called in and made an appointment and drove an hour away to only arrive at an empty salon. There was only one lady who didn’t speak English cleaning the floors telling me no one was there and they were coming. She told me I had to wait 30 minutes. Then 10 more minutes. Then 15 more minutes. I eventually left just sitting there waiting on someone to come to the salon. How do you open at 10 and schedule someone an appointment at 10:30 and not even show up. Literally no one at the salon except someone cleaning the floor. So unprofessional! Will never go here or recommend it to anyone. Waste of time!

DO NOT COME HERE. Total rip of I came here in May of 2014 total rip off 1^st of all I came for a wash and cut I sat in this salon For 2 hours before the even touched my hair then a tall blonde girl really nice came to me and told about their stupidly expensive packages luckily I went there with just enough I just took the cheapest one which was 185 $ cause my hair was pretty dry and damaged
So I just took it for what was that I got there at 3:30 and left that salon at 8:30 at night 1^st of that so called «treatment» was a rip off it was basically deep hair conditioner and a toner I have no clue why they even gave me. Toner cause I never dyed my hair 2^nd when told some lady there I’m tired I’m just going to wash my hair at the salon down the block that’s where they started to pay more attention to me if I didn’t say that I think I would have left at midnight
Next they cut my hair I think that’s the only thing they did right that day cause they don’t know how to blow out hair for shit they just passed the flat iron around my head twice
This was the icing on the cake when I was leaving I believe her name is Irene came out of no where she brought all these shampoo and conditioners and a bunch of other products and try to force me to buy them almost lost it I would think since I paid so much money for a bullshit treat I would get better service I will never come back to ever again !

Oh! i forgot to mention the dandruff treatment that i paid $ 85 dollars for that did nothing but gave even more dandruff! The stylist convinced me that the $ 85 is worth it since it fixes the problem for at least 6 months while making your hair shiner. Again, i went against my better judgement and convinced my self to go for this. BAD IDEA!
About 3 days after my visit i started noticing the flakes on my scalp way worse than it was to begin originally. To the point where i couldn’t wear black shirts or sit anywhere without seeing flakes falling on me.
I returned to the hair salon the following Saturday and told them of my experience and they told me that the treatment doesn’t work right away and it doesn’t really last for 6 months after either. Actually, I would have to continue the $ 85 dandruff treatment several times before seeing results O_​o. I was in complete disbelief! They offered to do the treatment another time «on the house but i would have to pay the next time.» Needless to say i had the exact results again.
I tried my best to get a refund but that was to no avail since they have a «strict no refund policy.» I was better off using home remedies and saving my money. Do not be deceived ladies, these astronomical prices are not always worth it.

My first visit to bien curl was in May 2013. I got a deep conditioner, applied their famous toner by wella brand and trimmed my ends. Although the final price caught me off-​guard, It was totally worth it because I was extremely satisfied with the end results. Immediately my hair felt strong and healthy, no more breakage and the natural sheen from the toner lasted a very long time on my hair. Your hair is your beauty.
I’ve tried many salons and none have come close to bien in terms of high end quality hair care and I’m a very hard client to please with high expectations.

Do not go here!!! Stay away from Irene and especially Michelle!
Irene did my color left this color toner in my hair for an hour then put a gloss treatment in my hair for free after asking me 5 times if I wanted it and charge me a ridiculous price. They used serums thermal sprays and a keratin straightener to hide how truly damaged my hair is now.
I came back later that week still acting positive about the situation after getting most of the damaged pieces cut off not wanting my money back like I should have in hopes they could offer something to fix it. Michelle yelled at me giving me attitude and Irene was nice but gave me karetin shampoo/​condition samples… I have been an assistant to hairdressers for 6 years and a lot of things they did we’re questionable.

Found this gem by accident. Walking down the block and by the outward appearance, you KNOW that your hair is in for a treat. The salon is tastefully decorated with subdued hues to relax you as you enter. Crystal and I discussed what I wanted for my «hair journey» and was very understanding. Since I don’t speak spanish, it is oftentimes difficult to explain to the local salon employees Exactly what i want without having a translator. I dudnt have that at Bien. After our brief discussion, and examination of my hair, Crystal treated my extremely dehydrated hair and my hair has been soft and beautiful without me having to do anything to it and only sleeping on a satin covered pillow. If you want comfort, quality, and convenience in your local salon, make your appointment with Crystal now. (just don’t book on Monday’s, that’s gonna be my day)

Unilocal delete my review because they didnt like the way i expressed myself, but here is a new one, let see how long this one will last. short and sweet… this place sucks! HORROBLE costumer service, they charge super expensive for bein located in BUSHWICk for god sake. and they are gettho, rude, and is only mom and daughter that work in this huge salon. they just open this location because apparently they had to close down their old one wonder why? go check it out at your own risk!
my appointment was at 10 am left there at 6 pm!
