Best Western Plus Prospect Park Hotel

It’s a nice hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. They serve breakfast every morning, but if you’re not really into continental breakfast, they have many other shops around the area. All are in walking distance.
Parking was $ 22 per day. I didn’t mind paying for parking because I was new to the area and didn’t want to risk getting a parking violation. However, when the open lot filled up, it was pretty annoying to see that there were unauthorized cars parked there.
I really liked staying here. I would definitely stay here again. If you’re in the area and need a place to stay, choose this hotel. You won’t regret it.

Nice and close to subway station. Staff is friendly and there is also free breakfast.

Disregard idiot reviews on Google /​Google Maps, this hotel is clean, staffed with friendly people, conveniently located, and reasonably priced. I felt completely safe walking the area day and night. Only a few blocks walk from fun, trendy bars and restaurants in Park Slope area, I would stay here again without hesitation. And it has TWO elevators, neither of which are slow.

Nicest choice in Brooklyn that is affordable. The room was a decent size (we searched other hotels and it looked like you were renting a closet with a bed!). Hotel was very clean and breakfast was good.
Only downfall of our experience was that one of the elevators was out and it was very fustrating. This place is busy and you’d have to wait for the elevator to come by twice before there was room to come down from the higher floors :(.
There is a train stop right in front of hotel so it’s super easy to get to/​from.
Definitely stay here, but call to make sure both elevators are running or it will put a damper on your experience.

During Columbus Day weekend the price was a bit much (around 240 $) but still somewhat cheaper than others close by. The staff was pretty good even when we arrived quite late. That being said, they pretty much man the front desk and this is a pretty self service hotel. The breakfast is passable and typical for a 3 star hotel. There’s pastries, cereal, a waffle maker (not very tasty), scrambled eggs and sausage links and bacon. It’s not awesome but it’s included. The parking was about 24 $ including tax and you can go in and out. There’s not much security there but the area seems relatively safe.
The hotel is on the same block as the R train (going away from Manhattan, the other entrance is across the street). The walls/​door does not screen sounds that well. The room is small but enough room to open luggage on the floor (I’ve had some hotels with about 1 foot around the bed). The bed was comfortable, room was clean and the bathroom was modern and clean. There is also free wifi. I’d stay again if I needed to be in the area. We were in town for an event in Prospect Park, which the hotel is not that near to but does the job.

New looking, nice staff, cute and Economical! I have an extreme fear of bed bugs and I felt pretty safe here.

I had 4 Soldiers coming with my son to visit back in June 2015. The original place they booked for their stay turned out to be plain english“Shit hole” I went to meet them and saw the place and no way was American Soldiers serving our country was going to stay there. I called Best western 4ave Brooklyn and explain to clerk on phone I needed a double full size bed for 4 soldiers that had arrived and right away clerk not only took care of the situation within 25 minutes that we arrived at Best Western the clerk on duty that night took excellent care of the Soldiers and my husband and I were grateful of how the clerk when done booking their rooms and gave them a Military discount he looked at each and every single one of our Soldiers and «THANK THEM EACH FOR THEIR SERVICE AND PROVIDING FREEDOM». He made them feel very welcome and was excited to be able to show his gratitude to our soldiers. They stood at Best Western in Brooklyn 4ave hotel for 4 days. They were shown gratitude every single day by hotel workers for serving our country. Their rooms were very clean and they enjoyed their free breakfast. I was very grateful that at the last minute The clerk I spoke to on the phone was able to book them a room at the last minute and still give them a military discount. This was the last room they had available to me this room was meant for our soldiers! Thank

Greeted by a super friendly staff, checked in by Alex (I think this was his name) who is very friendly and accommodating. Every other staff member was also very helpful. Five stars for them alone.
Room was small (which is to be expected for the area. We spent most of our time in the city anyway) but very clean and had a great Manhattan-​facing view from the 8^th floor with expandable windows. Quite comfortable and housekeeping service was great.
Subway (R and N) is literally right on the corner which is amazing. Nothing worse than getting off the train after a long day and having to walk for blocks to your place, so this was a huge relief.
Supermarket next door is small but has good stuff.
Usually don’t opt for a hotel when I’m in New York as I’ll usually stay with family, but if I ever need to again, this place is definitely on my list.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Prospect Park. This place was highly disappointing. I stayed here 2 nights, in March 2015, on a business trip with friends. I have travelled throughout the world and have stayed at 5-​star hotels as well as hostels – So I have seen my share of good and bad hotels.0 I was late for my meeting in Manhattan because the water was NOT running. There was urine and hair all over the toilet when I checked in. I was not offered a formal hotel credit for a future stay when this occurred. I would have accepted this hotel experience, but my friend whom I travelled with is handicap and these inconveniences made for a huge burden on us all.
The room I was initially checked into, the air and heating control was broken, which caused the air conditioning to remain on a high temperature all night. My room was an icebox through the night. I was then moved to a much smaller room, where, again the toilet was NOT clean. Then the hot water was not running. Then the water pressure went! I called the front desk and they were not helpful under such circumstances.
I am a professional that paid several hundreds of dollars for a highly disappointing hotel experience, that really felt like a motel. I will NEVER again hand my hard earned money over to such a pathetic excuse of an establishment.
I travel to New York often and will let my friends, colleagues and family members know to NEVER give their business to Best Western chain.

I was pleasantly content with my experience here at the Best Western Plus Hotel. This was my second time at a Best Western (first being the Gregory Hotel) and my judgement has been satisfactory. More often than not they tend to be the affordable option among the myriad of hotel choices, with special promotions and rates always available.
Stayed here (in room 805) from 12÷26÷14 — 01÷02÷15 @ an average rate of about $ 129 per night. Total billing after tax & nonsense was $ 1215.54 for 8 nights.
The front desk staff was always kind. I regret not seeking out this individuals name but one man always emphatically greeted me with «Hello Mr. Gonzalez» at every encounter which occured at least once a day.
The small lobby is nice/​appealing, however I never sat down for any reason.
Breakfast room is small, so seats fill up quickly and you’ll most likely end up bringing food to your room. The food itself is low quality, what you would expect for free. It doesn’t incite great emotions, but gets the job done. Availible options were small danishes/​croissants and toast, cream cheese jelly and I believe peanut butter; all in small packs, scrambled eggs, bacon/​sausage, a small station to create your own pancakes and waffles using batter, and coffee, water, apple juice and orange juice.
There’s a «gym» (wouldn’t even be right to call it that) downstairs. It’s small, containing about 5 or 6 basic machines and a tv, along with some floor space. There are also showers outside of the room.
My room was located at an end of the hallway, away from other rooms so it was isolated. I’m unsure if it was because of my request for a room away from the street, but the room location was definitely my preference.
Machines for your floor vary and alternate. My floor had a snack machine. In general your floor either has a snack machine, beverage/​ice cream machine I believe (could have been two separate) or the handy ice machine.
Once inside the room it was cleaner and nicer than I expected. Yes, the room is small and theres only space for one person to walk around the bed and to the bathroom. There was an expandable window with a nice city view in the room as well. Two sets of drapes to control sunlight. Below the window is the air unit, but ignore the control panel on the unit itself, the temperature is controlled by the thermostat directly on the wall directly across from it. This one worked effectively most of the time, either warmer or colder, but there were times where it didn’t seem the temperature decreased or increased at all.
Two nightstands with drawers and lamps resting above were on either side of the bed. The bed contained 3 sets of blankets; a quilt, and then two thinner ones. 4 pillows were provided along with two red throw pillows. To the left of the window in the corner there was a small rectangular desk with a lamp & two outlets, and a nice chair, also one small garbage pail underneath the desk. The 32 inch TV is loud so you wont have an issue struggling to hear. The channels are however screwed up, I reccomend writing down whatever channels you’d like to see once you come across them (ESPN, Cooking, Food, MTV, ect). The cabinet the tv rests on provides three large drawers and small complimentary fridge, which was turned off at first. I turned on to the coldest setting and placed a drink inside, the next morning it contained shards of ice so it’s decently cool. I was suprised with the prescence of a fridge.
To the immediate left of the TV/​cabinet was a nice little closet with hangers, laundry bags, an ironing board & iron, and spare blanket & pillow secured in a sack.
The bathroom provided a shower or bath option. There was ceiling lighting and a light above the mirror, with a hairdryer to the left and outlets and a box of tissues near the sink. There were also two or three hooks behind the door. Your standard complimentary shampoo/​conditioner/​soap were included. It’s definitely reccommended you bring your own as they most likely won’t last long. An additional and final garbage pail was uner the sink here. Outside of the bathroom door was a large mirror directly accross and then the door to exit to your immeidate left.
One complaint during the stay simply involved a request for some extra bathroom tissue when the ones provided ran out. It took nearly an hour and two phone calls, so skies forbid you’re sitting on the toilet while you ran out. :-x
All in all it was a nice stay and served it’s purpose. The room was unexpectedly welcoming and inclusive. Everything functioned properly aside from the minor issue with the thermostat. I had no issues with my room and any concern over potential bugs/​insects were dissolved after comfortably sleeping the first few nights.
Best Western is a provider I’ll most likely stick with if I’m ever in need of a room for an extended period of time. They haven’t dissapointed.

An affordable option for those willing to stay outside of Manhattan. Very close to 25^th street station and the R line but it does take 30 – 40 minutes to get uptown (Times Square/​Macys). Attentive friendly staff. Rooms are small but functional. Free breakfast was very nice. Also a grocery store next door and a good deli across the street plus a Dunkin Donuts. Liquor store one block away. Convenient to Barclay’s. Nice views of Manhatten.

My wife & I stayed at the Best Western Inn @ Prospect Park in Brooklyn from Oct 8 to Oct 1 2013. The hotel would have been rated 4 star if it wasn’t for either the bedbugs or scabies that we unfortunately brought back with us.

Best Western is fond of naming hotels for something cool nearby. Prospect Park isn’t that close at all, and the R Train is the only noteworthy attraction for ten blocks. Pros: free wifi, right next to the R Train, parking lot, clean (although its new, give it a few years and it’ll look and smell like every other Best Western in the city), breakfast is free. Cons: breakfast sucks. Stale, black, fermented bananas and mini bagels are not breakfast. Also, the dining area is tiny, and people stalk for tables like soccer moms stalk for parking spaces at the mall. Also, they don’t let you take your mini bagel to the large table and couch setup in the lobby, because it is only for people who are «waiting.» Clearly, not people who are waiting for an actual breakfast. The rooms are small, as you’d expect, and outrageously overpriced for such a lousy part of town, but this is the Big Apple, where everything costs ten times what it should. Hooray, America.
The television situation in the guest room is bad news bears. The channels are confusing (channel 45 comes after channel 12), and most of them aren’t in English. If you want to watch Sportscenter or Telemundo you’ll love it.
The staff were mostly very nice, except for the «guess you just have to eat that tiny bagel standing in the hallway» incident.
It’s understood that traveling to New York is a big pain, and this hotel won’t do anything to curb that. You could stay somewhere far closer to… anything…for the price.

This hotel is barely a Best Western Plus in my book. The rooms are smaller than Hanbee hotel which is in Manhattan and is not a Plus. However, this hotel has a few things going for it. It has a Sauna (I believe) although I did not investigate and try it out. It also is 1 very short block away from the Subway. But you will have to transfer to another train to get to Manhattan due to Hurricane Sandy destroying the R line tunnel to the city. The only real drawback with this hotel is the Breakfast. The Waffle mix is a bit watery which makes the Waffle Maker stick the Waffles to it. Also the lack of seating even with the extra room can be a problem. Also keep in mind this hotel is not right by Prospect Park but a quick Subway ride away.

This was the by far the cheapest option I could find.
There’s nothing fancy about this place. There’s a small lobby area and breakfast area and not much else. I had my room automatically upgraded to the king sized room which was pretty small, so I can only imagine what the other rooms looked like.
The free breakfast was very cheap. Eggs are fake eggs and totally watered down, sausage tasted microwaved and the bacon was very artificial scraps of ‘meat.‘
All in all, an inexpensive option. Nothing special.

I was a little nervous about staying in this neighborhood and a best western, as I typically stay exclusively in doubletree hotels. However, New York is expensive, and I didn’t want to share a bathroom with 20 other people, so best western it was!
I was pleasantly surprised by the state of the room. Everything was neat and orderly; the sheets looked fresh, surfaces were dusted, carpet was vacuumed. The bathroom was in excellent condition.
Breakfast in the morning was more than I expected. Make-​you-​own waffles, toast and bagels, cereal, pastries, coffee, juices, eggs and bacon. If that’s not enough, there’s a dunkin donuts across the street.
Only con was a rude front desk employee. Our heat wasn’t working when we got to our room (it was –10 outside), so I called the front desk. After asking three times to confirm I was checking the temperature control on the wall, not on the heating unit, I was told «it’s impossible the heat isn’t working,» and that obviously I just didn’t know how to use the heat. I do, in fact, know how to use heat, and after a hotel employee fiddled around for a bit, found a plug under the heater had fallen out. Didn’t quite appreciate the implication that I am a fool, but all the other staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this location!

They accused my boyfriend and I of smoking in the room and called the police. Are you kidding? It wasn’t us. We even let the police in the room to check and the guy at the front desk didn’t even get our signature and they still kicked us out. At 5:30am!!! This cannot be legal. I’ll never stay at best Western ever again in my life for as long as I live.

Had a great stay. Rooms are very cute but a bit small though like any other hotel in New York. The view is nice if you are high enough. It’s right by the subway and a grocery store to get snacks and other thingS. Customer service is exceptional.

Great option for a hotel in Brooklyn! I have stayed at a couple of hotels in the NYC area so I wasn’t expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very clean room, a nice sized bathroom, and a pretty comfortable bed. The front desk staff could not have been nicer.
The location of this hotel isn’t in the busiest area, but it is right next to a grocery store and literally a few steps from the R line. It was easy to get anywhere in Brooklyn or into Manhattan.
Parking is also available for just $ 18/​day, which is a steal.
My only complaint was the noise. The rooms are close together and the walls are thin. We heard people in the hallway several times, including maintenance (or someone similar) on walkie talkies.
Bonus: If you are there during the NYCM, you are right on the route near Mile 5. Just walk downstairs to cheer folks on!

A very solid option for a hotel outside of Manhattan. This hotel does not disappoint. We already knew from previous reviews that this was going to be a very good option to stay for those of you that like to experience true New York culture by staying in one of the five boroughs. This hotel was about 25 minutes from LaGuardia Airport our cabdriver found it very easily because it’s in the heart of Brooklyn about 10 minutes from the Barclays Center but as an educated consumer I made sure to negotiate price and even turn on my GPS to make sure he was not going off route to make more money for himself. One of the super-​duper pluses about this particular hotel before I even get started on the inside is that there is the R train station right outside the hotel. This has been mentioned in previous reviews but one thing I’d like to put out there is if you have small children there is no elevator access to the train from here. That became a bit of a headache because we have a six month old and I had to lug the stroller up and down two flights of stairs each time.
Once you get into the subway system however there are elevators throughout but that was a big pain, Super convenient but a big pain still. The R train will take you directly from your hotel to places such as the Barclays center the Statue of Liberty and even all the way to Manhattan. Those were some of the key places that we wanted to visit and it was wonderful that one train allowed us to get to all of those destinations. Now onto the hotel… Our check-​in was pretty painless we met with a young man that was actually a recent transplant from Texas that worked the front counter named Colin, he was super professional and helpful. He offered to give us a little more insight on navigating the city being that he was a Texas transplant as well. We were given our room keys fairly quickly and the lobby area was tight spaced as is pretty much everything in New York.
Once we arrived in our room we were extremely elated at how clean the room was. I’m not going to complain about the space because that is a moot point in New York because everything is small and you pay for Space but if I’m going to live in a place the size of my closet at least let it be clean which it was. The bed was super comfortable and we like the fact that they offered free breakfast. If you are a bit health-​conscious however their breakfast options are very limited for those of you that want to watch the calories they had your typical staples such as waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal, etc. One of the disappointing things however which is the reason why I gave it four stars instead of five is that their gym was Doodoo and they didn’t have a crib available even though we called to reserve it. First of all the gym was at the very basement of the hotel which from a security standpoint was very dangerous because it was unmonitored and you could literally be down there and no one would know if something happened to you unless someone came down there to work out or clean. None the cardio machines work properly.
The weight machine that they had was out of order which was sad so I was forced to do bodyweight type exercises that still allowed me to get a good workout in but was unfortunate when I was surrounded by all of this fitness equipment.
One of the other bad things I didn’t like about this hotel was that they contract with several cab companies and the particular Company they set up for us when we were leaving heade bawas a company called La Mexicana Cab company or something like that. And there was a gentleman by the name of Victor Guzman (or Cruz) that gouged us on the price headed back to the airport. The normal charge to get from LaGuardia to our hotel was about $ 40-​$ 45 but I guess he decided because it was 5 AM and he knew that we needed to get toward airport ASAP that he was going to go and charges $ 55. Which I didn’t appreciate because he pretty much said take it or leave it and we didn’t want to miss our flight so thank God I have exactly $ 55 in me. He even went as far as to suggest that we go across the street to an ATM if I didn’t have any change. I’m thinking «i’m in the middle of the city that I’m not familiar with and my wife and child is standing here and your asking me to go to a dark alley with an ATM are you kidding me??» I hold the hotel responsible for that aspect of the bad experience because they need to really check the cab companies that they are contracting with to make sure that they are not taking advantage of tors like myself. That was definitely a sour point in our stay at this hotel. But other than that you will definitely have a great time here you can take comfort in knowing that your belongings are safe. That the staff is super friendly and more than helpful in making sure you get around New York safely and quickly. We will be back
